Smaller hotel near public transport, bars etc

Posted Aug 10, 2017
Pros: The location, the quiet and very clean rooms, its close to shops, bars, restaurants, and public transport. Everything is within easy walking distance.
Cons: I was visiting during an unusually warm week and a fan in the room would've been useful to keep the air moving
Location: Local bars, restaurants and coffee shops; 10 min Metro ride to Old Town, Museums, and the Castle. Short walk to train station for cross country trips.
I was visiting Prague for a conference and a couple of days for sightseeing, and I chose the Karlin because it was outside the now uber-touristy Old Town area and in a more residential neighborhood with bars and restaurants. If you are looking for an alternative to the Doubletree, Clarion, Hilton, or Ramada, this is probably not the place for you. If you are looking for a quiet, very clean and comfortable room (with balcony) that you can use as a base for day trips, this would suit you. The hotel is great as a base from which to get around Prague and beyond- avoid the taxis/ tours and use public transport (Metro, tram), which is cheap, fast and efficient, and right near the hotel. The breakfast buffet will set you up for a day of sightseeing and walking (eggs, cold meat/cheese, fruit, bread, yoghurt etc). Wifi service is excellent, and the staff very nice. Want a quieter night? The local bars and restaurants offer food, wine and beer at very reasonable prices. Forgot toothpaste. shampoo or some other product? There is a toiletries shop next to the hotel. Want to pick up food for a picnic? There is a supermarket (Billa) down the street, and they have wonderful bread! Unless you are having serious Frapuccino withdrawal syndrome, I'd recommend bypassing the local Starbucks and going straight to one of the many nearby lovely coffee shops, and sample the cakes and pastries with a little coffee. Just remember to bring comfortable walking shoes (lots of cobblestone streets)!.

Good and clean hotel.

Helpful staff. In odd hours, they provided me general pain killer medicine. Also close to Florence and the city centre, just 3-4 tram stations away. Only issue was that There is no proper hotel sign board so it was difficult for me to locate it the first time.

Everything perfect

I have stayed in Karlin hotel a couple of times. It is a small, clean hotel a few steps from tram and metro station and about 15 minutes walk from the center. For me it is a great deal in terms of value for money. Some rooms may be better and bigger than others, but overall they are comfortable and pleasant. There is a restaurant garden next to the hotel, so some of the rooms can be a bit noisy, but that is not really a problem as the restaurant closes at a reasonable time. Breakfast is served in the restaurant. If you are looking for a reasonable priced hotel, clean and pleasant, in a nice neighbourhood with friendly staff Karlin os for you.

A very nice hotel in a great accessible location with friendly staff. The restaurant below is slightly noisy, but overall I recommend this hotel.

A 30 Minute walk away from the city center. Room was huge and sufficient. Was priced at a good rate as well with many decent restaurants situated around the area.

If you are looking for value for your money, this hotel is a great option. Great location near Metro station Krizikova, and walking distance to city center. Plenty of restaurants and cafes nearby.
