The staff are nice. I booked a king size bed, but was given a full size or close to queen. My friend is 205 cm, the comforter and bed were too short. They didn't offer free Sauna with the hotel stay. You have to pay extra for sauna, which I find a little bit unreasonable considering paying for the hotel stay. Many other hotels have pool and sauna included in price. Walking to city was ok. Breakfast was good with nice view.

Beautiful place and location. Staff friendly and helpful, but some spa services limited staff and availability, best to plan ahead and reserve times, but staff very friendly and helpful. Food was good, housekeeping good laundry very good service. Small playground a little overgrown, but hotel overall a very nice experience.

A 5 STAR Experience !
Truly a GRAND DAME of the gilded age - a STUNNING Hotel - we were kindly upgraded to a Junior Suite and the experience was EXCEPTIONAL - A 5 star experience - and although ONLY 2 room of 89 were occupied you would never have known as we were treated with all the amenities one would expect ! My sincere THANK YOU to such a wonderfully trained staff !

It feels like you are on a castle. Location is excellent and unique. Strongly recommend. Just be careful of your personal belongings during Spa Treatments.

Prepaid room downgrade
I prepaid a suite 50sqm. Firstly they offered me to stay in a 25 sqm room no shower or balcony. I was unhappy :( Apologies... mistake ...then offered a better room but still not what I prepaid! Because there was an event...the hotel decided to downgrade my prepaid room!!!! Terrible sorry.... but beside their regrets nothing.

I just would like to mention that when we arrive and during the check in ( or any other matter at the reception) there’s this lady playing beautifully the piano, but, it’s extremely loud and we can barely understand one each other.

This was really a 5 star experience without a 5 star price. Everything here exceeded our expectations. Staff in all areas were super attentive. Front Desk staff was always available and super efficient and friendly. This atmosphere was definitely carried throughout the whole property. Staff everywhere was friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was excellent, as were restaurant meals. The selection of food was wide at each venue. The eating facilities had large capacity, but, were broken into smaller areas. This gave each section it's own intimate feel. The Spa facilities and staff were professional and friendly. The Spa choices and variety were extensive. The Thai Massages were great. I had two and my daughter had one. She also had a facial and other appointments. I had a bad sore throat when we arrived. They even had a Nurse that helped me and was able to supply tablets that have resolved the issue. Our room was large and very comfortable. Everything was old world decor, but, was very fresh. My daughter and I stayed for three nights after a conference. We cannot wait to return with my wife. We had no need to leave the facility during our stay. We were also fortunate to arrive at peak fall colors. This made all of our views breathtaking. Although English was hard for some, this did not slow the staff down in helping us. If they had any doubts, they got on the phone with the front desk for translation assistance. This Czech experience was great.

A nice place
Big groups’ luggage carried by bell boys with client’s elevator instead of service elevator. Eventually the tired engine overheats and fourth floor looks a bit too far.

Great resort for a relaxing weekend.
This is one fabulous resort hotel. The service is excellent, the building is beautiful, and the setting is great. I was looking for a place to relax for a weekend and this was perfect. The hotel staff gladly arranged golf for me (with a slight discount). Breakfast is outstanding, especially when you consider the great view from the dining room. Rooms are very large by European standards and (I believe) each room has its own jacuzzi. I was alone. I would suggest that the resort would be even better for couples.

Nice location.Within walking distance from center.
Excellent, authentic and well maintained hotel. Friendly staff. Very large rooms with excellent hygiene. I was fortunate to have very large balcony overlooking the city. Within 10 to 15 minutes walk to the center. Bit difficult for elderly people to walk back up to the hotel due to elevation. I would recommend the hotel. Thank you

Girls weekend
We stayed at the Esplanade for a girls weekend away and were very happy with everything! The hotel was very nice and the staff was friendly, helpful and always around if you had a question. We were very happy with our choice of hotels and will be back again!

Fantastic spa!
Excellent spa and hotel. They have a shuttle too that takes you to and from the train station or around town. Ask for the card at the desk. No taxi necessary! Wonderful friendly staff and excellent buffet breakfast.

Summer abroad program
I came to Marianske Lazne with a group of American students on a summer abroad program. We needed a big hotel that could accomodate all,preferably with triple occupancy option. The purpose was to introduce the students to the spa culture of the gilded age. The hotel (built in 1911) indeed was everything one would expect from a grand old hotel overlooking the town. Everybody had a great time, the rooms were very large with beautiful balconies and we took some of the treatments in the hotel like masages and facials, which were expensive in Czech terms but not so much in American terms. Breakfast was gorgious and there is a lovely swimmng pool. The mattresses were a bit on the hard side though.

VERY DISAPPOINTING
We did not even stay the night. After checking in we had lunch in the hotel which was horrible. The walls in the rooms were so thin that you could hear every conversation from the rooms next door. The decor/food was very old fashioned. Biggest disappointment was the ridiculous charges for the use of the spa facilities(including the use of the swimming pool). Every other hotel in the area we have stayed in include the use of spa/pool in the price. Would not return or recommend this hotel.

Disappointing
Originally booked 2 nights for our anniversary weekend and changed to 1 nite. Received cold greeting from receptionist who was unhelpful and unfriendly. Impossible to book couple's massage and pool is tiny in comparison to very misleading website pics. Room was ok, definitely not 5☆! Restaurant served very good dinner and breakfast buffet. Not worth the price overall.

Glorious
Magnificent hotel. Outstanding views but that means its on the edge if town and up the hill. Rooms, service and food were first class. The main reason we picked this hotel over others was for the air conditioning, but it was not working when we visited. Still a wonderful place.

Fabulous experience!
We first saw this hotel when it was abandoned many years ago when we were stationed in Heidelburg. Was thrilled to be able to stay here when it was renovated. Fabulous hotel, incredible food, friendly staff. This is a experience to remember the rest of your life. The town is charming, like stepping back in time a hundred years.

Not impressed - extra charges for everything
Hotel Esplanade is beautiful a has got a lot to offer. However extra fee to use swimmingpool or extra charge for parking next to the hotel (not inside garage), spa - wellness (European massage, manicure, facial, etc.) open only Tue-Sat is not reflecting 5*hotel services. Breakfast buffet was ok but after 9.30am the replenishing of food was missing (even though breakfast was served until 10am). Dining experience in hotel did not reflect 5*. Some hotel staff was on the other hand very helpful.

Great Hotel Service but too much nickle & diming
We stayed two nights between Christmas and New Years. The hotel provides pickup from the train station. We were impressed with the service, we were served hot wine upon arrival. The rooms are spacious and the jacuzzi tub is fabulous! The breakfast was exceptional. In addition to the buffet, you can also place a special order (we ordered pancakes). We ate two meal at the lobby bar, the service was good, but a bit slow, however, they allowed us to make a special vegetarian order, which is often difficult at best in C.R. Our only complaint was that the spa. Expect to pay 44 Euro to use the sauna for 2 hours (by reservation) the pool will cost you 10Eur. The masages were more reasonably priced, and I was satified with mine. Be aware that the staff in the wellness center speaks German and Czech, but quite limited English, and my friend found that they lacked the profesionalisim that we expected from a five star hotel. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would reccomend it if you plan to spend the majority of your time your time sightseeing, eating, skiing(in winter), golfing, playing tennis (in summer) and walking in town, but I could only cautiously reccomdend it if your sole purpose is to use the spa facilities.

Sehr nettes, aufmerksames Personal. Das Hotel ist top, nur Sauna sollte inklusive sein. Frühstück war gut und auch da toller Service. Eine Flasche Sekt, mit Erdbeeren dazu, gab es als Geburtstagsüberraschung auf's Zimmer. Wir kommen wieder.

Das Hotel ist ruhig am Ortsrand gelegen. Zum Skilift ist es nicht weit, recht gut fußläufig erreichbar. Das Zimmer war sauber und hell, sehr geräumig. Die Zimmertemperatur konnte man nicht erhöhen (20,5 Grad), das Badezimmer war etwas zu kühl für uns. Auch der Pool war uns etws zu kalt. Das Frühstück war gut. Aber das Obst war zu grob geschnitten, auch die Abdeckungen der Speisen wirkte optisch nicht so gut und war nicht so praktisch. Insgesamt unserer Meinung u d Erfahrung nach eher 4 Sterne, da wir bei 5 Sternen mehr erwarten dürfen.
