Lovely staff, off the beaten track inn.

Posted Mar 24, 2017
Pros: The hotel had great staff & amenities.
Cons: It would be nice to see a shuttle service/bus from the inn - at least to anchor cove.
Location: Great transport around when the cruise ship docs. Anchor cove shopping strip nearby.
The Inn staff were all very friendly. The inn offers a small breakfast each morning including toasts, coffee, local fruits & juices. The location is a little out of the way, about 5/10 minutes walking down a residential street past the docs & some factory area. The inn itself has lovely facilities and there is a small shopping strip 'anchor cove' nearby. To get to other shops by transport you have to walk down past the docs to get to anchor cove for the bus stops. At day time it's fine but there isn't much lighting on the road on the way back so not ideal for lone females/travellers. Found my bathroom had quite a few mosquitos as there was no fly wire preventing them from getting in.

Stayed 13 days and enjoyed ourselves. Continental breakfast was nice. Chickens always got us up so no need for alarm clock

Cons: To help stop the spread of bedbugs the Inn should have 2 luggage racks in each room so suitcases/carry ons/etc are not put on beds.
This hotel suited our needs for a place to stay after an evening flight arrival so we didn't have to drive an unfamiliar rental car on an unfamiliar road to find an unfamiliar house in the dark. Instructions for late arrival were clear and accurate. Breakfast was simple but adequate. The staff was very helpful and friendly.

Pros: Nice layout. Comfortable rooms. Nice area behind rooms for relaxing
Cons: Breakfast was ok but I was expecting some type of protein-eggs, bacon or sausage
Location: Only stayed one night. Close to airport for our late arrival
Easy late arrival. Friendly, helpful staff. Nice area for breakfast.

Cons: There was only one chair in the room. There was a small table, but only one person can sit there.
Location: The location is near the boat harbor. It is centrally located on the island if you are planning on going to several different areas.
The hotel staff is friendly and helpful. The room is basic, but I was not looking for a resort. The price was reasonable.

Not a resort, but OK for short stay on budget.

Pros: The territorial views and the pool area were very pretty, parking and wi-fi were free, and complimentary beverages were available all day.
Cons: Cover pool with a blanket at night! (Cheap way to keep the heat in.) Add protein to breakfast (yogurt?) Needs jacuzzi and keycards.
Location: Close to harbor, Kanapaki Beach, Marriott, LIhue town. Good if you want central location (about same length drive to north shore and Waimea).
We needed a reasonably priced overnight place and this did the job (though in Kauai, even "reasonably priced" places are too expensive). It's not on the beach and you have to drive through the shipping zone to get there, but once you're there the setting is nice--beautiful territorial view from our room and from the pool. The pool was too cold in February and there's no jacuzzi or poolside restroom. "Breakfast" is minimal (sliced fruit and toast or English muffins, beverages) and breakfast seating space is inadequate if the hotel is full. If you can't handle stairs, request a room on ground floor as there is no elevator. Microwave and fridge were pluses; good hot water and water pressure in tub/shower, pleasant-smelling soaps/shampoos, very old-school telephones in room, and they still use old-fashioned keys instead of key cards. Rooms were clean and reasonably tasteful. I'd stay there again for an overnighter or if I was planning to be "on the go" most of the time, but if you want a resort experience, this place isn't that. It's fine for what it is, though. Staff is friendly enough but if you get to the front desk when they're on the phone, they might ignore you for a while. Cancellation policy is a bit draconian. No on-site restaurant and you pretty much have to drive out for dinner.
