Generally it’s a nice property, great pool and hot tub areas but there is construction and it is noisy. The construction gets in the way of one of the restaurants. The beach is okay but the Mountain View is great.

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights at the start of April 2024. We had a King Room, Pool View and we’re on the 3rd floor in the easternmost building. Cleanliness is huge for me, and this property and room was immaculate. The hotel room had flooring throughout (yay for no carpet when you’re packing sand around), and the bathroom was one of the largest I’ve seen in any standard hotel room with an awesome walk in shower. Staff with pleasant and very helpful. The view: phenomenal of the large pool area, with glimpses of the beach, waves and cruise ships parked out in front. The resort was gorgeous. Beautiful gardens, beautiful pool area. The food choices: a hotel restaurant that is poolside and open-air. We ate breakfast, dinner and had a nightcap here. Did not disappoint. There was also a patio dining option for coffee-shop style fair in the AM and sushi in the evening. A couple minutes walk along the beach path gets you to a beach bar, and beach side dining in the form of Italian and a surf and turf restaurant. Many food truck options just outside the property too. And only a couple minutes to the airport, so super convenient, and the sounds of waves crashing was louder than any planes. The planes did not disturb us in any way. Overall, one of the best properties I’ve stayed at.

This property was clean and the staff was attentive and polite. The beach near the property was perfect and the pool was nice. Our only complaint was the room we booked. We booked a pool view room but were stuck on the end and could only see the smallest sliver of the pool at best. Our balcony overlooked the staff driveway behind the scenes hauling trash etc. Not the end of the world, but when you save up for an expensive trip like this it is kind of irritating. We would stay here again if we could confirm the room prior to arrival.

Excellent facilities , clean, staff is helpful and understanding. We took our 6 years old to this place because we had great memories here. The pool is clean and warm, The room was at first level by the pool, and it was perfect for us and our son. Today we left with one only negative comment for this place- awful food. There are no efforts made for the present restaurants to offer anything different than fast food options. So I do not recommend stay more than 3-4 days. It is hard to feed a child all day with fast food options.

The resort is a great place for a family or couples vacation. Great location and wonderful service by the staff. Fabulous pool and great restaurants. What was bad. My wife and i have serious handicaps and have severe difficulty walking. There was no effort on the part of the management at all to help with a wheelchair. We were told it was " first come first serve" but they only had 1 or 2 wheelchairs. during our stay. To get to both restaurants was literally a 0.5-mile round trip walk. Unbearable. Though management said they were ADA compliant and architectural they are with ramps, etc. but for the guests they don't care at all. IF YOU HAVE A HANDICAP AVOID THIS RESORT UNTIL MANAGEMENT SHOWS SOME COMPASSION AND CONCERN FOR YOUR NEEDS.

The pool is beautiful and the grounds are well maintained and clean. The surrounding area is quiet. There is a small homeless encampment at the end of the beach. Fun to watch the beach volleyball and surfers. Convenient to the airport.

We had an absolute great time. Room was super clean when we arrived and the service was excellent. Only issue we had is how hard the staff tried to get us to upgrade our room to an ocean front room when we checked in. I felt pressured and was uncomfortable with their persistance.

This is a great property with a wonderful pool and beautiful quiet beach. The staff easily handled our early check-in - they held our bags and delivered to the room when ready - and gave us property privileges to use facilities and change food and beverages. Property was lovely. Parking is a bit of a walk and parking fees are expensive. The resort fees were expensive for what you got. These two added expenses added $500 to the cost of our week. IMO too much for resort fees!

Check in was so smoothly; great service felt very welcoming and all around a wonderful room. This is a great hotel just minutes from airport, with checkin all night, beautiful large grounds with massive pool next to beach, just minutes from shopping via footpath, multiple restaurants within walking distance, large free self park lot near building, clean/large rooms with comfy beds and balconies...and very pleasant/friendly staff!

The Royal Sonesta was a great property. It is very clean with helpful staff and friendly employees. The only complaint was the parking, it was very far from the rooms and you had to share the resort parking with people going to the beach.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities, property conditions & facilities
I loved my stay here. Beautiful property, there was food options within walking distance of the resort as well as close by with driving in Lihue. The parking options were good. All the staff was very polite and helpful. I got room service a few times and it was great. I loved my virw. It had a safe and mini fridge. Only thing i didnt like was there was no microwave so i couldnt reheat any leftovers.
