Hotel very near airport. Very convenient.Posted Aug 11, 2015
Location: near a beautiful beach, close to airport, main town nearby
The hotel is near the airport. After a 20 or so hour trip, it was very good to have a room nearby so that we did not have to drive a long distance to our accommodations for our three week stay on the island. Hotel is old and little tired but convenient and inexpensive with helpful staff. Unfortunately for us, we learned that probably on our next trip to Hawaii, it will be a remodeled hotel, and we won't have our inexpensive room. We may stay anyway because of the location and convenience!

Close to the beach.Posted Aug 10, 2015
Pros: Location to the beach
Cons: The resort
Location: Centrally located on the east side. Wailua River is right across the street with lots of excursions.
Resort is old & dated...rooms need to be refreshed. Beds are soft...sink to the middle. Windows don't open, safe in room does not work. Have to use safes at front desk. You get what you pay for.

Dilapidated and neglected, but OK in a pinchPosted Aug 2, 2015
it felt like a ghost town. Two of the 3 wings are shut down for a badly needed renovation, and there was a huge amount of raw material stacked up ready to go. It easily needs several million dollars of remodeling. The wing we stayed in looked like it had not been updated since the 1970s. It was dingy, the carpet had stains, the decor was extremely dated, I could have sworn there was a dead animal in the refrigerator, the shower floor was horribly stained, the paint job looked like it was done by a high school kid, bathroom fixtures were rusted, the doors to the rooms in the hallway did not even match (many of the nice original doors were replaced with cheap generic doors), interior doors had wood chips missing, it still has the old style CRT televisions, the air conditioner vent and return panel was rusted, the grounds were not well maintained, the lobby was lacking any character, the outdoor carpet on the stairs was shredded, etc On the positive side it was cheap and was one of two hotels with available rooms on short notice during busy season. If they do a good job remodeling then it will have potential.

This is a hotel going downhill fast.Posted Jul 28, 2015
Cons: I don't know where to start - frayed carpets, peeling paint throughout, etc..
Location: For Hawaii, this is rather an isolated location. Other than the beach and the adjacent park, that's it.
Deferred maintenance is out of hand. No bar or evening dining facilities. No airport transportation facilities. The employees were all nice and accomodating, but they are getting no corporate support. While I feel sorry for the employees, there is no way I could recommend this hotel to a friend.

Never trust the Internet !Posted Jul 28, 2015
Cons: Take it off your listing
Location: Nice beach access behind property
Under renovations ( this was never disclosed) Property should have been leveled and rebuilt

Avoid this Hotel Until After RenovationsPosted Jul 27, 2015
Pros: Nice staff.
Cons: It really shouldn't be open during renovations and, given the condition of the property, the resort fee is an insult.
Location: It is a 5 minute walk from Lydgate Beach Park, and is in a good central location for exploring the North and South ends of the island.
I am a budget traveller who rarely stays at "better" hotels and don't expect an excessively fancy room or obsequious staff. I also understand that you get what you pay for. However I have never stayed in a hotel in worse shape than this one. The rooms and main hotel buildings are quite literally falling apart. So many things that would have been simple to fix have been ignored. We found, frayed, torn and dirty carpets, peeling paint and wall coverings, torn screens, a murky koi pond, bathroom fixtures hanging off walls, abandoned partially furnished rooms with stripped beds and broken lamps clearly that were visible from the hotel grounds due to torn or missing draperies. The place is undergoing renovations (as we discovered when we awoke to find our cottage completely surrounded by work crews and orange construction fencing) which is great, but it is NOT a pleasant place to stay in the mean-time. They really shouldn't be accepting guests until the property is updated and repaired. It's that far gone. The hotel staff is nice but they are clearly a skeleton crew who are doing their best under trying circumstances. There are other properties nearby that are near the water, or a quick drive from the beach park, that are in much better shape. I would avoid this one until renovations are complete.

Excellent locationPosted Jul 19, 2015
Excellent location right in front to a very nice beach park great swimming for young children Sheltered bay Great snorkelling Play ground Hotel facilities ok ( heard that Hilton chain bought it therefore no renovations done Hilton will take over Likely prices to go way up when that happens Room was comfortable quiet Very nice staff
