Expedia screwed up and did not book hotel.

Pros: Large well-equipped room. Clean. Easy access to both north and south.
Even though Expedia sent me a confirmation # they did not send it to the hotel and the hotel could not book me in. It was a huge issue as we were completely exhausted and between discussions with the desk staff and circular conversations with Expedia staff (getting nowhere) we became completely exhausted. Wouldn't recommend it!!! When we did get into the room it was a very pleasant surprise, as the lobby was shabby, but the unit was large and well-equipped.

BEAUTIFUL VIEW

Location: JUST ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ROAD WERE MANY REASTURANTS, LITTLE SHOPS AND A SUPERMARKET. THE HOTEL AREA WAS VERY QUIET, EVEN CLOSE TO THIS ROAD.
WE STAYED IN AN OCEAN VIEW ROOM AND IT WAS AMAZING. THE BREEZE NEVER STOPPED! WE EVEN GOT TO SEE A FEW WHALE'S! THE ROOMS WERE A GREAT SIZE AND PLEASEING TO THE EYE'S. WOULD STAY THERE AGAIN.

Pros: I liked it location to shopping and food stores. It was new and clean.
Cons: MUST MOVE BARBECUES
On the first night we had a late check in , which went fine until we tried to use the code provided. It didn't work, so had to go back to find security at the other hotel. Found him went back only to have it still not work. He then gave us access to another room for the night. The next day all went well to change for our original room. We were on the ground floor and not really happy as our view of the ocean was not that good. We were told that nothing could be done. The location of our room was very noisy with people walking by and there was a parking lot right next to us for the Resort next door. Lots of car noises and laughter in the night. Also the barbecue area was only about 20 ft away and one night our smoke alarm was set off by the barbecuers. I also heard another rooms smoke alarm going off another night for the same reason. The barbecues MUST be put in another location. We found the pool was cold , but knew about that ahead of time.

Good Location

Pros: Location and Beds
Cons: Add Air Conditioning and additional lounge chairs out front facing the ocean .
Location: Lots of bike rentals nearby , walking path and activity vendors nearby. Snorkeling can be dangerous in the winter months here, cud be okay in summer.
We loved this location so close to the Walk/Biking path and across the street from Safeway , McDs , Subway and good bar.

Newly renovated. Close to beach.

Convenient location. Next to beach. Newly renovated. Kitchen with stove. Comfortable beds. Management was quick to help a couple that we were there with. Cons. No a/c. the weather cooperated with us so it was comfortable without A/C. There are no assigned parking spaces and not enough spaces. We usually had to park on the road. All in all it was a nice place to stay. Nice and quiet perfect for getting a restful sleep.

Our Stay at the Castle on Kauai.

I was disappointed that they classify themselves a hotel. My definition and theirs are different. My definition includes on-site check in services, housekeeping services (without extra cost) and adequate parking. This place did not have adequate parking for all of the units that they had. When we were not able to find parking, which was most of the time, we were forced to park down the road in the bushes. The parking area had insufficient lighting so parking off the lot was risky. No on-site check in or front desk. We checked in 1/2 mile down the road and since we had arrived after their office closed at 9:00 pm we had to go back the next day and check in again. Inconvenient. No housekeeping on-site unless you wanted to pay too much to have this service. No air conditioning. No elevator. We are elderly and walking up a couple flights of stairs hauling luggage was not ideal. I have no problems with these items if we had been told up front about them. Because if we had been totally informed we would have looked for some place different to stay.
