Only peeve was aggressive timeshare sales pitch. Had to strongly state did not want to spend a couple of hours in a small group to listen to pitch and receive gifts.

Nice rooms on the water

Posted Dec 27, 2016
The rooms were nice. The second room beds were a bit narrow, good for kids not perfect for adults. Appreciated the kitchen and washer/dryer in room. Although when we asked for cleaning, no one showed up. And we weren't asking for it every day. It was nice to walk out the patio to the beach. The pool was closed and it was a bit inconvenient to walk to the hotel next door to use the pool. I wish they had mentioned it prior. We may not have stayed. The restaurant had good food, although pricey. We ate a much bigger prime rib at haleiwa joes on oahu for the same price.

Beautiful resort on the beach

Posted Dec 17, 2016
Very pretty room. All clean except the carpet was dirty. Disappointed that the pool was not available due to repair. Staff very nice & room was ready for us but, before you even settle into your room, and to get your parking pass they try to pin you down to schedule a 90 minute timeshare pitch. The restaurant is very popular. We had great drinks there. The grounds are beautiful & within walking distance to shopping, farmers market, deli, coffee shop, etc. All in all, would recommend if the pool is functional.

ABSOLUTE PARADISE

Posted Dec 14, 2016
Pros: Everything was a delight
Cons: NOTHING
Location: Close to everything a vacation traveler would want. Step outside your room and enjoy Kauai !
This place is a no brainer. Beautiful grounds, great staff, clean spacious rooms. If you need a larger room they have them, if you need a kitchen they have them. Close to everything. Central location makes for easy access to north and south shores. The manager Carey was a delight and very accommodating. The restaurant there on property was excellent, a bit pricey but was a treat for our last night there. Should be 6 stars. What a Trip!

The room was much nicer than the pictures show! Would have stayed here the entire trip! Unfortunately Pool was down for maintenanc, but the fantastic room made up for that! Very close to a Safeway and old Kapaa. So the location is great! Not the best beach for swimming but renting bikes to go down the bike path is lovely!

Friendly staff

Posted Dec 7, 2016
This hotel was clean, close to the beach, and well appointed. Finding it at night is a little tricky as street signs are hard to see. From airport, turn right at far end of Coconut Market and hotel lobby is to your left.

Timeshare, timeshare, timeshare

Posted Dec 6, 2016
Nice hotel, convenient location, and the staff was very pleasant. However, the overeager timeshare nonsense will keep us from ever going back. Upon check-in, they will send you to the "concierge"/timeshare sales rep before you can even get a WiFi code or parking pass for the usual "for just a quick 90 min of your time, we can get you a free helicopter ride / gift certificate to the restaurant." DO NOT BE POLITE!!!! If you do not give them a firm no, they will harass you throughout the entire stay with incessant phone messages, notes on your door, and even lovely "prescreened" loan offers in the mail two days after you arrive home, asking for your SSN if you want to opt-out. Shell Vacations Club ought to be ashamed. My recommendation, after a decade of visiting Kauai (Kapaa specifically): stay at the Islander on the Beach or Courtyard Marriott next door...both wonderful hotels sans the timeshare-sales nonsense, but make sure to book a reservation at Hukilau Lanai (the restaurant at the Beachboy). It's truly a fantastic restaurant.

Ocean view units

Posted Dec 2, 2016
Stayed in units on 4th and 2nd floors. Both were very clean and well equipped. The views were spectacular, especially on the 4th floor. Short drive to conveniences. Definitely would return.

The OG Coconut Beachboy Hotel

Posted Nov 30, 2016
Pros: The central location of the island go go to the west or to the north from this location which is exactly in the middle..
The bartenders at the Beachboy pool bar are very personable and actually comedic and make your stay just very refreshing...
