Perfect for families travelling on a budgetPosted Jul 4, 2014 on Orbitz
We were immediately and happily surprised by the size of the unit and it's location. Much bigger than it appears in the photos, particularly the lanai, where we spent most of our time when in the room. Nice view of the shore from our room (520), although partially obstructed by the railing and a few houses. The kitchen is very spacious, and I definitely recommend using it if you want to make Kaua'i affordable--there is a very convenient and well-stocked grocery store nearby in Koloa, with reasonable prices for Hawaii. The Nihi Kai is actually much closer to the beach than it would appear at booking--very easy walking distance. Plus, their pool is on the way back from the beach, so you can shower and lounge there if you need just a little more sun and water. The grounds were beautiful and well maintained, reception very friendly. We particularly appreciated the location, which we realized was perfect for both enjoying the beach (great for bougie boarding) and taking excursions around the island (although it will take over 1.5 hours to get up past Hanalei Bay, the trip is worth it). We are a "budget traveler" family, and the Nihi Kai was by far the nicest place we've stayed over the years of travelling with our two children around the world. It is not the luxury and opulence of the nearby Hyatt, and if you want to be pampered you'll have to do it yourself, but the Nihi Kai stands out for it's convenience, spaciousness, and well maintained grounds and units. The only inconveniences we noted, and they were really inconsequential, were a kitchen rangetop that was difficult to master, and the three flights of stairs up to our unit were difficult for mobility impaired travelers. Some units are closer to the beach than others, so you might want to look at the complex map and balance distance to walk versus peace and quiet of being set back from the beach/pool if walking is difficult.

Great 2 bedroom for family of four. Ocean view. Quiet. Short walk to beach. Convenient to Poipu attractions. Not luxury but a bargain. Would go back anytime.

Great location, but no ACPosted Jul 10, 2013
Pros: Very roomy, well equipped and great location.
Cons: The kitchen and baths are updated, but the rest of the rooms are not. Needs new carpeting and furnitures.
Location: Walking distance to Poipu beach and several other beaches. Close to two shopping villages and several nice restaurants.
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. The location is great, the condo is well equipped, except it does not have an Air-conditioner.

Misrepresented CondoPosted Apr 16, 2012
Pros: Kaui was a nice place to visit and we had fun
Cons: Paid for Extra Deluxe and got a got an old tired condo needing repairs, dirty, old bedspread, see picture of deck lounge stained & pealing paint etc.
Location: Location was good
Suite-Paradise represented we were renting what was discribed as "Extra Deluxe" This unit was not "Deluxe", and especially not "Extra Deluxe". , this was mis-represented by Suite Paradise, and although they did send repair people there a number of times, we had to spend time dealing with plumbing and electrical issues. The condo was old and dirty. We had been recommended to use Suite-Paradise, which was a disappointing experience. Our objection is that we paid for something that we did not receive. In the end Suite Paradise was not prepared to address this.

Charming, old Hawaii-style villasPosted Sep 30, 2009
Built into a hillside, garden setting, with good ocean views. Easy, pleasant walk to Brenneke's, and Poipu Beaches. Good food, and shopping all close by. Most units are no a/c, but the tradwinds blow right through you condo. Some floorplans are two-story; some are single, but could be on the third floor, w/ no elevators - so specify, if this is a problem for you. Pool and changing rooms were nice, but under used (Everybody @ the beach!). Staff were great, and reponsive, though you probably won't need them much. The grounds were very well maintained, and the staff was friendly and knowledgeable of the native plants. The after hours check-in proceedure works well, and check-out was easy, and fast. Very quiet, and peaceful...But that's why you chose Kaua'i, right??
