Very nice hotel in older part of Seward
Posted Jul 20, 2016
We stayed in the older, un-renovated section of the hotel. We were lured by the cost benefit over the renovated part of the hotel and other hotels in Seward. The older section has only 2 community baths on each floor. Each bath was nice enough, but I admit to being concerned that there would be back-ups at the bathrooms that provided both the toilet and shower facilities. The hotel is not air conditioned. On top of that, our room was directly above the kitchen hood exhaust fans. So, it took some open-mindedness and patience to see that none of these potential issues ended up being real concerns.
We loved the hotel and were very pleased we chose the older section to stay. We almost never saw both bathrooms occupied simultaneously and when it happened, there were other rooms in the hotel for emergencies. The exhaust vent never sent odors outside the hotel. The restaurant with the hood vent was from Mrs. Gene's (great breakfast). Even though we stayed during a "warmer" time in Seward, the temperatures were suitable for comfortable sleep without air conditioning. The location of the hotel was perfect. It was away from the newer town crowd that was less interesting to us.
Seward was one of our favorite find towns in the USA (think Ouray, CO with an ocean). The Hotel Seward added to the charm of the town. We really enjoyed our stay. We were pleased with the accommodations and would definitely stay there again. We prefer the older wing.

Dear Greg, Thank you for your comments. The historic side does add charm and has a special warmth for me. The weather has caused some challenges this year. But over all we have been blessed that most guest have enjoy there stay with us. As a small family hotel we always want our guests to have a happy visit with us. Thank you again, Mary
