Vieille auberge de charme, personnel attentionné

Posted Nov 5, 2016

Old Tavern and Inn

Posted Sep 12, 2016
Cons: Hard to open our door due to the the thickness of the hallway carpet. Maybe level the bed a little more.
Location: About 20 minutes outside Canterbury proper. There are two pubs across the street - I recommend The King's Arms.
The Abbots Fireside dates from the 1600's. There are narrow spiral stairs to second floor. The room floors slope to the window wall. The doors are short and open with a skeleton key. That being said, it has nice hot water for a pleasant shower, the street noise is minimal after a certain hour. I wish that the bed did not slope toward the wall - made you feel like you would fall out of bed. However, it was clean, quiet and quaint. The owners are extremely nice, and very helpful. The town of Elham is quaint and quiet during the night, which is a plus. I would recommend this hotel for someone who has light luggage and likes a bit of history.

Bel hôtel ancien, mais très isolé

Posted Aug 26, 2016 on Hotels

Great overnight stay... Wish we had longer

Posted Jul 28, 2016
The staff were very warm and accomodating. Ready for a chat more then happy to help however they could. Really old place but considering this and the squeaky floors.... It was very nice. Would highly recommend if u want to stay somewhere with character and charm. It is above a pub/bar but was very quiet.

Very friendly !! highly recommended

Pros: Cute Labrador :) Sehr lieber labrador
Cons: No, Absolute gar nichts
Location: Canterbury is nearby, there are plenty of things you can do.
Unfortunately there is no mobile phone recepeption in the village however you can get a signal a few yards down the road in case you need to make a call. The Owners are very friendly and helpful. The channel tunnel is only a few minutes drive which makes it the perfect place if you plan on heading to Europe.
