Gym and pool closed!

Pros: The breakfast here is excellent
Cons: Some foem of notice would have been good as we would have booked elsewhere with a gym and pool
Upon arrival we were informed the Gym, pool and more relaxed resturant were closed. These were the facilities we ctually wanted to use so we were disappointed. We were told an email should have been sent but like all the other guests we spoke to this was not the case, we weren't offered any solution to these issues and the welcome letter hadn't even been changed to apologise or acknowlegde the issue.

Moet & Chandon evening on Friday 11 November 2016

Pros: The hotel was beautiful as ever and our cottage mews was large and overlooked the grounds towards the pool. The Moet & Chandon evening was wonderful with marvellous food and drink and interesting commentary re produce and champagne/wine.
Cons: Breakfast was served between 8 am and 10.30 and we arrived at just after 9.30 and had to join a queue of around 12 people standing outside in the hallway for about 10 minutes. The head waiter offered no reason as to what the hold up was but eventually we were shown to a table at around 9.50. There was not continental breakfast, no fresh fruit only cereals and the juice had been watered down. We ordered our cooked breakfast and this had still not arrived by 10.55 and as we had to vacate our room by 11am we had to leave without eating anything. The staff were all running around like headless chicken's but not actually achieving very much. We went to reception to check out and they apologised and explained that various people had been complaining but offered no reason as to what had gone wrong. The head waiter came through and asked them to adjust our bill, which we did not want, we wanted a reason plus a breakfast. Our total bill for the evening was £350 of which they gave us a refund of £11. This just seemed to add insult to the affair and definitely left a bad taste in our mouths. If this is a sign of Champney's taking over, I feel somewhat concerned about the future of the hotel left in their hands. We have stayed at Eastwell Manor several times over the past years from spa breaks to their special events and have always have had nothing but praise for them.
Location: Lovely location, no need to go anywhere else once you have arrived.

A short visit

Lovely building, beautiful spot. Our mews cottage was huge but perhaps slightly tired looking. Fantastic for dog walking with massive grounds and rabbits! Decent breakfast. We had dinner by room service - all fine except a rather tough piece of chicken. Like the possibilities for self- catering in the mews cottages.

Relaxing stay

Pros: Comfortable, friendly staff
Cons: The pool area could be refurbished.
Location: Location good for the Kent coast and close to Canterbury and the Channel crossings. We parked the car and stayed on the grounds!
Booking was straightforward, as was checking in. This time we were in one of the mews cottages, Quince Cottage. Our bedroom was comfortable, with tea making facilities, a fan (necessary because it was hot!) and a decent sized t.v. The bed was comfy. The bathroom was large with both a bath and a separate shower cubicle. We had bathrobes and slippers provided, a bottle of still and sparkling water replenished every day, and plenty of bath products of superior quality. Downstairs, we had a separate lounge area, plenty of reading books, a further, larger TV and a small kitchen area, with more tea making facilities and a fridge. UHT milk was provided, but we requested fresh milk which was delivered to our cottage promptly. We used both the indoor and outdoor pools, including the sauna, steam room and jaccuzi. The indoor pool is looking a little jaded now, and the ice machine wasn't working. The whole area, including the changing rooms and showers could do with a little TLC. They were fine, just a bit tired, tiles missing etc. The outdoor pool was good, with plenty of parasols, which were definitely needed whilst we were there. We spent most of our time sitting around the pool area and swimming in the pool which was a decent size. We had one meal in the bar, as we only wanted a sandwich, and the other two nights in the bistro restaurant, where the menu was more than adequate and the food was enjoyable. We WILL return.

MUCH MORE THAN A HOTEL!

Pros: Feeling a part of life in a real Manor House!
Cons: Some of the staff lacked any warmth or rapport. More training needed on staff relations with guests.
Location: A great privately owned Battle of Britain museum, the Battle of Britain Memorial on the White Cliffs, and numerous NT properties in striking distance.
Brilliant accommodation in a spectacular Manor House surrounded by beautiful countryside.

Thoroughly enjoyable stay

Beautiful place and would be delighted to stay again. Spa access and breakfast were the highlights as we didn't have a long stay. But the room was very spacious / accomadating. We were well looked after with all of our needs / requests courteously answered and in all cases satisfied. Garden connect 4 was an amusing bonus, but they are missing some green playing discs which made it hard to play.

Beautiful grounds

Beautiful grounds and very peacful, the house unfortunately needs some TLC to bring it back to its former glory as it could be spectalular. Our room in the main house was lovely and very clean. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful but the manor restaurant staff were not very engaging and were standing around talking to each other which wasn't acceptable. Lunch at the pavilion was ok but my omelette had lots of egg shell in it which was a shame. The spa and pool area was wonderful and very relaxing. I would like to say to the owner please please bring this establishment back to its former glory as it could be amazing with a few little tweaks. We would definitely return as all in all it was a lovely stay.

Carriage houses

The carriage houses were great as we had 7 people to stay in a 3 room/3 bath cottage. It had a great common area space. The room furnishings were a bit dated. The bathrooms were updated.....except for the shower heads! Haha. the grounds, main house, pool, spa, both resturants were fabulous. Great English Manor retreat!

Big disappointment all around

Pros: Breakfast was excellent and morning staff lovely
Cons: See above
Location: Good walking in grounds for dogs
I had booked a ground floor room in the hotel as I have a blind dog. On arrival was told in no uncertain tone dogs not allowed and that we had been put in the annex (a long way from main hotel, car required) when we got to annex our room was up loads on concrete steps in pouring rain with no light. Back to reception where again no joy until I asked for duty manager we were then allocated another room in the annex assured it was ground floor but when we got there found it was upstairs again but at least under cover. So 18 kilos of dog had to be carried up and down stairs. The room was tiny. Dinner at £35 plus service was appalling. Tiny portions, main course over cooked and had to be sent back and pudding not edible. I complained again next morning and was given £45.00 off the bill no where near enough for what was supposed to be a special occasion !
