Teething problems made for a disappointing stay

This hotel has so much potential, situated in a beautifully renovated Victorian block. All rooms have sea view, the staff are friendly and the Cliffe restaurant on the ground floor is superb. Its only just opened so perhaps I'm being unkind, but you really need to iron out these issues before you open to paying guests. Our room was a good size with a comfortable bed, but in the bathroom we found just a little tube of shampoo and another of shower gel and also it seemed impossible to get the shower to run consistently hot. There's a desk in the room but no table lamp and only one chair so not really suitable for business people. Finally we found that when we turned off the central lights the bedside lamps went off too. After a great meal in the restaurant the night before we expected an equally good breakfast, however although the croissants and pain au chocolat were a nice touch, there was nothing else representing a continental breakfast, no cheese, meats or bread. On top of that I really don't expect to have to make my coffee from instant powder and a jug of hot water. There's no menu for the cooked breakfast so the waiting staff have to reel off a list of options, however my scrambled eggs were very good. I like this place, I like the staff, but compared with a nearby private hotel, they really need to get their act together. Sent more in sorrow than in anger!
