Wonderful hotel. Newly renovated, has a lift. Hotel and room is cleaned, staff are great ,friendly and helpful, great compliment to the chef for the traditional English breakfast spot on, after a hearty breakfast and if you decided for a walk, The Leas a just a footstep in front of the hotel. Town centre is only 10mins strolling form the hotel. Our rooms has a garden view and sea view which was really nice. Its a peaceful area and every night we had good rest. The restuarant at the hotel serve great food and good value too. I will certainly recommend this hotel if anyone who wants to stay at Folkestone. We will definitely stay at The view again when we go the Folkestone the next time. Our stay is definitely most satisfactory and great value for money

My favourit on the shore.

This Hotel will become one of my favourites. I love the cost line but rarely a hotel in the first line. Often just basic service, standart quality, a bit shabby and old fashioned (well fashioned maybe a 50 years ago) but this Hotel is one of the rare once which offers an amazing service. As it is family based you feel welcome from the first minute until the last. The rooms and special the bath was huge sized, comfortable bed, everything you need plus some extras inside. We checked in quit late but where still welcomed with a truly gentle smile and the chef made a dinner for us while the Restaurant was already closed (and as we know our beautiful iland ... we know that normally closed is closed .... family run businesses are simple the best) .... and what a dinner it was seriously amazing and the wine card, small but had a great German Riesling on it. I staid 1 night before crossing the chanel but it was a holliday day and made me relaxed to start working the next day. By the way the Hotel is in one of that great old sea view buildings .... beautiful and refurbished on a very great standart with a modern touch. .... Stay there and you will be happy.

Teething problems made for a disappointing stay

Posted Oct 3, 2016 on Hotels
This hotel has so much potential, situated in a beautifully renovated Victorian block. All rooms have sea view, the staff are friendly and the Cliffe restaurant on the ground floor is superb. Its only just opened so perhaps I'm being unkind, but you really need to iron out these issues before you open to paying guests. Our room was a good size with a comfortable bed, but in the bathroom we found just a little tube of shampoo and another of shower gel and also it seemed impossible to get the shower to run consistently hot. There's a desk in the room but no table lamp and only one chair so not really suitable for business people. Finally we found that when we turned off the central lights the bedside lamps went off too. After a great meal in the restaurant the night before we expected an equally good breakfast, however although the croissants and pain au chocolat were a nice touch, there was nothing else representing a continental breakfast, no cheese, meats or bread. On top of that I really don't expect to have to make my coffee from instant powder and a jug of hot water. There's no menu for the cooked breakfast so the waiting staff have to reel off a list of options, however my scrambled eggs were very good. I like this place, I like the staff, but compared with a nearby private hotel, they really need to get their act together. Sent more in sorrow than in anger!

Bel établissement bien situé

Posted Nov 16, 2016
