Great place to stay in Kep. About a 4 minute walk to the Crab Market and restaurants. The owners are extremely helpful and friendly. Very clean and the grounds are beautiful. We loved siting on our private deck.

I loved my stay at Bird of Paradise. It was just so peaceful and relaxing. Steve is a wonderful host with so much information if you need it. The porch among the leaves is a perfect place to have a cold beer. There is a store five minutes away with everything you need. A ten minute walk will get you to the crab market, where you can either buy from a vendor, squid, fish, crab, chicken, with the pepper they rave about, and it is worth raving about. Or you can choose from a heap of restaurants on the water. If it's breakfast you're after try the Arts Cafe, where you can enjoy your coffee while staring at the sea. Kep Beach is about a fifteen minute walk, where you can find some white sand. The national park is a five minute tuk tuk ride from Steve's an up the hill. If it's peace and quiet and few cold beers you're after, having done the rest of the country, then Bird of Paradise is perfect.

From a very experienced senior (81 yrs) traveller
Steven and his lovely wife are excellent hosts. They answered all our questions with good advise. The location is very good if you want to walk to the crab market and the row of restaurants on the sea. His recommendations where accurate without bias. He also facilitated our return tickets to Phu Quoc, much easier than our trip to Kep. The bus company drove us to immigration, we did not have to carry any luggage across the border. Only on the Vietnamese side, we had to walk a very short distance to the bus stop, which then dropped us off at the pier. Thank you to Bird of Paradise for a lovely stay.

A little piece of paradise.
The Bird of Paradise is conveniently located just off the main road, just a short walk from the Crab Market, the National Park and the beach. The bungalows are in a lovely garden location, they are clean, comfortable and spacious. The breakfast was a very nice start to the day. Steve and his staff were very friendly and helpful, arranging scooter hire, boat trips and onward travel. I stayed an additional 3 nights and would definitely stay again and I’m happy to recommend this property.

A really nice place
A cozy room, very close to the crab market. Great concierge service that can get you a lot of things taken care of, including tickets for your further journey. Home-made food good both for breakfast and (especially) lunch/dinner. And very friendly owners - do sit down with them, order a beer/cocktail (or two, maybe three) and enjoy a chat about Kep, Cambodia, economical situation in the country, etc :) Watch out for the rooms without the air-conditioning if you really can't handle the heat.

There are many like myself having special diet. IF I had know of NO FOOD of any kind is allowed into the premises, I would NOT hv book this Bird of Paradise. Their reason is it wl attract ants. In almost any hotel in Cambodia, IndoChina, there ants common everywhere. I grew up in homes build on stilt,raised platform & homes build on ground level. There are many ways to prevent ants, insects, crawlers including snakes from getting into the premises. If they are not aware, probably they get some ideas from the locals. NO fridge, kettle but thanks goodness they oblidge the hot water. European,American guest may rate this Bird of Paradise as 4/5. But by Asian stardard, Asian culture& traditions, the hospitability, friendliness are norms and usual & expected. Any unaccomodating is considered as hostile, unfavourable.

Beautiful, friendly, family-run establishment.
Beautiful, friendly place where we couldn't have been better looked after by Steve and his lovely wife. Clean, well tended bungalows, lovely quiet location, superb value for money and most important, run by a couple who genuinely care for their guests and go out of their way to provide information, care and help on every level.

The bungalows are only a 5 minute walk from the crab market, so we had the time of our lives eating seafood. The bungalow we had was very spacious and cool enough with the fan blowing all night. The bathroom was big and clean. My partner loved the hammock on our deck and spent a fair bit of time on it reading. Very relaxing atmosphere and situated down a quiet alley. The bungalows have a lot of greenery with big plants everywhere which felt nice and looked great. It's also a very short walk to the Sailing Club which is great for checking out the sunset. The beach is a fair bit further away but only a 10 minute tuk tuk ride.

Beautiful garden hotel
Very short distance from where Phnom Penh bus dropped us off. 5 minute walk from Kep Crab Market. Beautiful garden environment; both flowers and fruit. Stayed in natural style bungalow. Employees provided very good breakfast, and were very helpful in supplying maps and local tourist information; even supplying bus information and calling local tuk-tuk for trip to Kampot. The only downside was that I picked a fan-cooled hut; and even though the temperature was lower than Phnom Penh, it was still too hot at night to be comfortable in May. The bed came with great mosquito netting, but using the net eliminated the advantage of a fan. Great place for a night or two.

The service of this hotel/bungalow is not suited for families at all. Grumpy, unwelcoming, difficult to ask for help. We had so many animals residing in our bungalow that I was afraid we would be infected with some awful illness. Toads, gekkoes, birds, bugs, ants, mice, mosquitoes... you name it. Also, on internet is stated they have free breakfast buffet. No such thing. Neither buffet or free breakfast. You can buy pancake for USD 2,50 though. Most of the time out of whatever you ask for. Juice, bread etc. The internet does not work in bungalows, only in the common area. The small pool on the picture is not good for a bath. Water has not been changed for ages. Also, Kep has nothing to offer for families. The beach is extreme, dirty and filthy. Jelly fish stining you all the time. Absolutelty nothing else to do. It is only a place to stay for a night on your way elsewhere. Anywhere else.

Value for money
A recent change in management has resulted in a few booking teething problems but Rith and his team could not have been more accommodating in rectifying matters. Great location as quiet yet near enough to everywhere. Clean and tidy with the staff's friendliness making our 7 night stay fantastic. Excellent value set in a rural background.

An excellent place to relax
A good place to relax, however a bit of a distance to the beach. On the positive side the Crab market is a 2 minute walk and National park entrance 3-4 minutes away. Very friendly and helpful owner (new management).

Bungalows are beautiful in gorgeous gardens. Would expect refrigerator though as no access to cold water even when bought at reception. Also breakfast poor and expensive for what you get. The owners are delightful though and go out of their way to help.

We had some really relaxed days at Bird of Paradise bungalows. Very nice staff and the owner is always happy to help and to share some good advice. Very good location and motorbike rental is available on short notice. We really appreciated the proper size or our morning coffee mug which was more than generous :)

An Englishman in Kep
Peter ist ein großartiger Gastgeber, nach eigenen Angaben der einzige Engländer in Kep. Er macht morgens liebevoll frühstück, natürlich mit der obligatorischen HP Sauce zu Eiern mit Speck, organisiert Ausflüge und Bustickets sofort. Ein kleines Paradies.

Nous devions rester une nuit et nous en sommes restés au final tellement nous avons aimé les bungalows de Bird of Paradise et la ville. Super bungalow. Rapport qualité-prix très bon. Très bien situé pour aller à la plage et faire le parc national ainsi que pour manger au crab market. Petit déjeuner très bons (mention spéciale pour le pancake banane miel !!). Et surtout il y a plein de petits animaux de compagnies. Génial je recommande

Nouveau propriétaire, excellent accueil
Le nouveau propriétaire de l'hôtel (depuis 21 jours lors de notre séjour) est très accueillant et tout son personnel. Beaucoup de bons restaurants au marché au crabe qui se trouve à 5 minutes de marche. Les vélos disponibles gratuitement permettent de rejoindre la plage de Kel en moins de 10 minutes.

Nice bungalows with friendly staff
Our 3 nights there were perfect. The staff is very friendly and attentive to needs of his hosts. The bungalows are nicely built in wood with the bathroom in concrete. The bungalows don't touch each other, which avoid hearing your neighbors, and the environment is very green with some fruits trees. Staff asks you not to store or eat food inside the bungalow but at the eating area near the reception (they have storage/fridge for your food). It can be seen as a problem but thanks to this measure, no insect were observed in the bungalows. We booked there a motorbike, a day at rabbit island and the transfer to Phnom Penh. Staff was very helpful and gave us lots of advises. The bungalows are located near crab market (max 10min by foot) where you have a large selection of restaurants and some shops.

Svært hyggelig eier som hjalp oss med informasjon og billetter videre. Australsk, dvs lett å kommunisere med, noe som oppleves som deilig etter et par uker i området. Relativt enkle fasiliteter, men god og hyggelig stemning.

Blev välkommen av engelsktalande personal. Ägaren, en kille från Australien som bara ägt stället i några månader, hade restaurerat allt. Min bungalow som var den billigaste var stor och rymlig med bra badrum. Ett stort plus var sänglampor, vilket man inte ser så ofta. Uteplatsen till varje bungalow hade stol, bord, soffa och en hängmatta. TV med bra kanaler. Mycket gästvänliga och hjälpsamma. En liten pärla.

Nous avons voyagé avec notre fils et notre belle fille ainsi que nos 2 petits enfants du 07 au 09 juillet 2015 avec les petits dejeuners compris. Positifs : + pas loin du marché des crabes + assez proche de la plage + petit déjeuner pour 3 $ Négatifs : -en arrivant, le gérant français ou peut-etre le propriétaire, un jeune, il avait partiellement handicapé de son oeil gauche, il avait dit qu'il n'avait pas reçu le paiement de hôtels.com -le gérant nous a réclamé le prix des petits déjeuners pour les enfants, nous lui avons payé pour éviter d'avoir des conflits. -et la veille de notre départ, il est revenu pour réclamer le paiement pour les petits déjeuners des adultes mais nous avons refusé de payer.Et nous sommes partis le lendemain sans prendre le petit déjeuner du dernier jour pour éviter d'avoir d'autres surprises. Heureusement pour nous de rester juste que 2 nuits, nous avons déjà voyagé partout comme à Singapour, Bangkok, los angeles, Osaka, tokyo, Hiroshima, Siem reap et phnom penh ...etc. mais nous n'avons jamais rencontré ce problème d'ANARQUE comme au bungalow, "Le coco de mer à Kep au cambodge. Nous vous conseillons de ne pas réserver via internet pour éviter des anarques comme nous Attention : il parlait très bien le français comme un commerçant tapis d'arabe, il avait dit plein de bobards.

Vacances en famille : 2 adultes et 2 enfants de 11 et 14 ans Points positifs: -chambre assez propre -toilette+douche Convenable dans la même pièce -pas loin de marché -assez proche de la plage Points négatifs: -surpris en arrivant, un francais qui gere ce lieu, nous dit ne pas recevoir le paiement de hôtels.com, alors que nous avons réservé et payé pour 2 adultes et 2 enfants avec le petit déjeuner +wifi compris ( preuve à l'appui) Nous etions obligés de payer les petits déjeuners pour les enfants. La veille de départ,le français est encore venu nous réclamer le paiement des petits déjeuners pour les adultes cette fois ci Nous commençons à nous énerver car nous avons déjà tout payé avec la facture reçue. Pour nous, c'est une question de principe. -télévision ne marche pas -connection Wifi restreint -cafard dans les toilettes Conclusion: attention à L'ARNAQUE. Nous avons toujours reserve sur hotel.com partout où nous allons ( US, JAPON, FRANCE, Croatie, chine, thailande, singapore , hong kong , cambodge et c'C'est la première fois que nous avons rencontré une personne aussi malhonnete.

For backpackers only.
We did not have a good time here. Some of the staff did not seem to enjoy having guests, and they would clean our room every third day. Which also meant that the "free" water was not delivered. You could buy it from the reception only. The so-called "free" breakfast buffet did not exist though one could buy one. The internet did not work half the time and only in the common area. The bungalow was inhabitet with a number of small animals, such as toads, gekkos, mice, ants, birds. Ant it would rain through our roof until we got another bungalow. This time with toads using our beds as toilets. The "pool" in the garden had not been cleaned for a very long time. This is a place for backpackers to stay one night, but not for families with kids. You get less than what you pay for. Also, Kep has very little to offer. Filthy beach, dirty water. Nothing to do.

Friendly and accommodating proprietors!
The family that ran this resort was very friendly and accommodating, that´ll say; they gave Great service. A relaxing place after hectic Phnom Penh for me. Not beeing used sleeping next to the jungle though made it hard to sleep with all the noise of the crickets, birds, dogs and whatever kind of nocturnal animals. If you have no problems with that then this is a great choice at a very affordable price. Close to Kep national park and the Crab Market and only a short and cheap tuk-tuk or motoride to the beach. A plus for the hammock on the bungalow veranda. Recommends it..
