There are more bald eagles living in Alaska than anywhere else on the planet. Ketchikan, Alaska certainly has their fair share.
Did you know bald eagles are native to only North America? It was news to me.
Captured this fierce fellow braving the elements on a rainy day during a 3-hour tour with Captain Rob courtesy of his Lighthouse, Totems & EAGLES excursion off the coast of Ketchikan while sailing Alaska's Inside Passage.
If you're a wildlife enthusiast, you'll love this opportunity to explore the dozens of little islands inhabited with bald eagles. You can learn more about eagles and the 'Rain Capital of Alaska' via my blog at http://www.aplacecalledroam.com/home/bald-beautiful-in-alaska. Colorful homes perch on the hills of Ketchikan. Wander Creek Street, famous for its naughty history. #goldenhour Some 33 houses of ill-repute were in operation here in 1927. They say that both men & salmon came upstream to spawn! Now it is a rather lovely street to wander through. Dolly's house here on the end is now a museum but was the place of business of Dolly Arthur from 1919 through the 1940's. And she lived here till 1973. Rumor has it, this is the grave site of a vampire. Sunset over the marina in Ketchikan, Alaska, know as the A view of the former brothels in Ketchikan Alaska. It begins with the hunt. Exquisite detail. Mr. Lee spent 4 years carving it. It is earmarked for the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, DC. #art This was a twilight shot just as the sun was setting for a cruise thru the inside passage of Alaska. Many of the cruise lines ships follow each other thru the passage and it’s not uncommon to have them pass each other. I thought the scale of the ship against the mountain, as well as the low lying clouds gave a great perspective to just how magnificent this country is. The twilight dusk with the ships lights twinkling was just an extra bonus. Totem bight state historical park. Flying over these gigantic mountains is an experience unexplainable. You would think the massive group is intimidating, rather it is humbling to see them sit so peacefully. I recommend the A Seaplane Tour when in Ketchikan. Head to Tongass Highway and book yourself one 😊

I saw plenty of eagles in the air, which is challenging to get a good shot. But, there he was...just chillin and watching us! The summer sunset in Alaska, a little past midnight! Beautiful! Great little town to visit. The cutest little seaside town in Alaska's Inside Passage (and with some of the best good) goes to Ketchikan!
