Stayed there to catch cruise ship. Our room was not at all what was pictured. Very small, no fridge, could hear everything in room next door and we woke up to a big leak in the ceiling that looked like it was about to drop. They did comp us for one night and our cruise ship docked right across the street that made it easy to get to. But taking that into consideration would have booked somewhere else.

Charming landmark hotel
The Gilmore Hotel is a landmark hotel which means it is old. If you are not prepared to accept this includes the use of stairs as no elevator is in the building, there is no central air and parking is on the street then looks elsewhere. Otherwise enjoy the nostalgic atmosphere of this small, clean and cosey hotel. Call ahead and the front desk will advise you on parking or arrange for pick up at the airport.

Due to a change in our vacation we booked our stay last minute through the Expedia app which I rarely ever do but due to poor cell service in the area and the fact that Expedia said they had 6 rooms available I figured it would be safe and convenient to book through the app. . Long story short we showed up to check into our room and they had no rooms for us. My advice is don’t rely on the hotels communication with Expedia.The Gilmore did in fact have 6 rooms available but they were down for cleaning. Lesson learned Always call the hotel directly especially when booking last minute. We were fortunate there was another hotel that had a room available as we wouldn’t have had a place to stay for the night.

No air conditioning in the room. Usually that shouldn't matter in Alaska but we stayed during a warm day and night and opening the windows did not change the boiling temperature in the room. At least a fan would have helped but no airflow.

Alaska the Beautiful
Ketchikan is beautiful. This was my 1st visit to Ketchikan. The Gilmore is very nice! It is a historic vibe. My view of the water & cruise ships was great! The hotel is convenient to all of the local restaurants & shops.

The room was clean and cute. The water pressure in the shower was fantastic, especially for an old building. Beautiful view of the water from our room. Helpful staff. Would definitely stay their again.

I didn't want to do this. I have been going to Alaska for 20 years and always wanted to stay at this property. After seeing the photos on line, we booked this. After traveling all day, we checked in, got out room and had to walk up six flights of stairs with our luggage. The carpets were very dirty. When we went into the room, it was so small. the bathroom had this tiny stall shower, like one you would have in basement. The room was so tiny. about two feet around the queen size bed. When I went to open the curtain for the view, it was a view of another build, just two feet away. We picked up our bags and headed back down the stairs and went elsewhere. It took some fighting however we did receive our refund.

Great service, no elevator but staff helps with bags. Bar and restaurant are very friendly with great staff. Located very well downtown. Would stay there again if in Ketchikan.

The room was extremely tiny and smelled bad. You can hear everything through the walls. I’ve stayed in many historic properties before so I knew it would have quirks but I would not stay at this hotel again. The only positive is the location.

OLDER hotel, so small/cramped room/bath. NOT MOBILITY CHALLENGED OR HANDICAPPED ACCESSIBLE! (Found out only has rooms on 2nd & 3rd floor a week before trip that was planned MONTHS in advance. No elevator: stairs only. Great service! Fantastic location! Great food nearby: Annabelle’s & Sweet Mermaid 50’ away! They call/pay for Sourdough Cab. PERFECT for average traveler! NOT for HC.

The entire stay, from shuttle pickup, check in, dinner at Annabelle's, the awesome room, check out and shuttle back to the airport were terrific. I loved the location and the room was charming and comfortable with a beautiful view and great location to area restaurants, shopping and attractions. I had dinner at Annabelle's which is connected to the hotel and the dinner and service were excellent! The hotel staff were very friendly, professional and accommodating. I will definitely stay again!

Room was ok, bed was comfortable. Window in our room was a foot away from the building next door and did not stay open . We asked twice for a fan for the room and staff wasn’t able to find one although rooms facing the water with unobstructed windows had fans in them. We also had a reservation for Thursday and due to a flight change we arrived early Friday morning. We weren’t allowed to check in until 3 PM on Friday because they “had to turn the entire hotel”. Was told to check back in a few hours and see if there was a room ready, which we did at 1PM. When we came back the gentleman at the front desk told us right away nothing was available until 3, yet he didn’t check to see if there was anything ready. If you are planning on staying here, get an ocean view room. The others are cramped and stuffy and fans aren’t provided.
