Affordable Stay

Posted Dec 3, 2017
We stayed at this hotel for one night and the experience was fine. The rooms are dated but ours was clean and everything we used was in working order (A/C, mini fridge, TV, shower, toilet). This was one of the most affordable place we found for two people and one night stay in early December. The pool was really nice. Went in close to 9am and the water felt nice and warm. They also have a good amount of beach chairs by the ocean to soak in the sun and view. They also offered snorkeling packages which had comparable prices to other business around.

Great dive operation. Hotel needs to be shut down.

Pros: Checking out.
Cons: Everything
Location: tons
I don't even recognize the keys anymore. Between storms and places closing it's changed a lot in last 10 years. Amy Slates has been down in key largo for ages. The dive boat operation is awesome. The staff is just okay and need to work on customer service skills. While I support small business on top of corporations, the staff at big name hotels are much more professional. The room we were in was literally a slum. Broken shower, holes in wall, horrible smells, no water pressure, cracked and dirty floors, and a bed that was so nasty and uncomfortable someone shoulda burned it. If staying in Key Largo go somewhere else. I have stayed in a lot of mom and pop places that were bad, I'm not some spoiled rich snob, I'm a working class bum, and this place was BAD.

Worse than any 3rd world hotel that I have stayed

Posted Nov 18, 2017
The facility and our hotel room were unkept. Our room had threadbare sheets and old towels, peeling paint, a hole in the bathroom wall that hasn’t been repaired, a broken toaster and completely unreliable WiFi internet. We had to go through and clean the door handles, light switches and fan cord to be able to touch them. I had to supervise the cleaning staff and request that they sweep and mope the floors.

We enjoyed the premises. Very nice location with dive boat on the property. Did not dive with them but it sure seemed like the folks who did enjoyed it. They also had a pool and plenty of places to sit and enjoy an incredible sunset. Room was adequate but for the bed. Unfortunately didn't sleep well the entire trip and would consider another place for this reason alone. If you can overlook that, you will probably enjoy this place.

Cute resort

Stayed two times in 2 different rooms. Rooms were clean and each had refrigerator, toaster and microwave. One nearest the water had been remodeled with new tile and bathroom fixtures. Both rooms had awful beds. Very uncomfortable. Battery alarm in smoke detector starting beeping in the middle of night in first room so not much sleep. I hope they improve the mattresses because I love this place for its quant style. Picnic tables by water with tiki roof shade. Lounge chairs in dock. Small beach area. Nice pool.

Affordable+Diving+Convenience+price=Great!

Posted Oct 30, 2017
Pros: Friendly staff, price and convenience.
Amy Slate’s dive resort is great; it is directly in Key Largo near restaurants and grocery stores. In addition, if you love convenience (like me) the dive boat leaves directly from the property (no driving required). The suite was spacious (I had a one bedroom suite with a pullout couch in the open living space –living/kitchen) with a kitchenette. The suite definitely could have slept three-four people (two in a queen bed, two on the pullout sofa). The furniture/room is a bit out-of-date but was clean and all appliances were functional (coffee machine, stove, oven etc.). The property is nice, it has seating on the water (chairs & tables), small sand strip to sunbath, and has a ladder that goes directly into the ocean for a quick dip. Overall, I think it was a good price for the location and provided exactly what you need for affordable & simple stay.

Relaxing

Posted Oct 7, 2017
We arrived after Hurricane Irma and the cleanup for everybody was in full swing. The staff made sure our snorkeling/boat trip went well,(captain Tim) is superbub. This was our second stay at Amoray and we would stay again, we are residents of North Florida and travel South to the keys for R&R

I loved the laid-back nature of Key Largo, but I tend to avoid touristy areas. There were some fun bar/restaurants in walking distance, and paddleboarding/snorkeling at Pennekamp was really fantastic. The hotel is budget but cozy and has a bit of a summer-camp atmosphere, which is great if you happen to be travelling solo. Beware, though, this is not the place to go if you are looking for a true beach. There are lots of really cool other things to see, though.

Snorkeling grandparents with grandkids this time a

We've stay before as scuba divers and this time brought our 8 year old twin granddaughters. We and they loved the "old Florida ambience" and the safety of the pool and grounds as all the guests were friendly....some with kids as well! However, it was never over run with children so couples would enjoy Amoray as well. Each morning we sat out overlooking the ocean with breakfast and ended each day with a glass of wine in the same place - as the kids explored. Myself and the girls ended up with a better snorkeling experience right off this resort vs. the John Pennekamp snorkel experience. Only negative was WiFi access was poor in upstairs room but do you really need to be doing the Internet when you're in paradise?!
