We enjoyed our 3 Nights at Hotel Maritim

Posted Aug 23, 2017
Pros: Friendly staff, lovely breakfast.
Cons: Warm the plates in the restaurant at breakfast time, PLEASE! I hate putting hot food onto a very cold plate. You need token each if going to the 'pool
Asked for a top floor, Canal facing room and that is what we got, lovely views. Lovely comfortable beds. Friendly staff esp in the restaurant. Breakfast is 17 Euros and worth it. Opposite the hotel is the Seebar and there you can enjoy a good evening meal and a beer or three. Nice indoor pool. The hotel is on a hill and could be difficult for anyone with a walking problem. You need a car to get about.

Was an average hotel yet i enjoyed it

Posted Aug 16, 2016 on Hotels
Overall my stay was good, the hotel guest services were responsive and supportive, i had few observation on housekeeping as they regularly miss amenities, and they keep used dishes or cups as is without cleaning or replacing after we used it. the area is extremely noisy and full of different types of insects so you cant keep the windows open for ventilation and cooling (no AC). no sun blinds so you'll have to wake up once the sun rises. hotel in a good condition, rooms some are in good condition and newly renovated and some are very old with scratches all over the furniture (like mine, suite 623). the indoor swimming pool was great and well maintained, lobby was in good condition. no staff after 10 pm (only one receptionist). "Keep in mind you'll have to carry your own luggage in arrival or departure regardless staff are available or not"

Classic Hotel

Best views in Kiel. It's retro 70s decor - but not old and worn down - you will love it.

Not for someone looking for savvy hotel

The hotel and its facilities are old, and out dated. Not the type for me when I'm on business travel.

Dear guest, the hotel was first opened in 1846 and after the second world war, the hotel was rebuilt in 1956 and 1972. But we always have to improve our services. Last year, we renovated all our bathrooms. This year, the public toilets were done. And on July 1st, 2016, we install new flatscreens in all our rooms. Just come back and check, how we did improve since your last stay! Kind regards, Joachim Ostertag – General Manager

A hotel with history

Posted Sep 1, 2015 on Hotels
It's a hotel with history so the room was a bit worn out. The bathroom or at least the bathtub was renovated I suppose. I upgraded to a ocean view room and found the view was very breathtaking. Well, the location, it's located in a residential area therefore not much going on in the neighborhood. Perfect for those who'd enjoy the view of ocean, not so much for those who want to explore the city I'd say.

Beautiful view

Posted Aug 14, 2015 on Hotels
It was quite lovely! We wished we had longer. The view was beautiful. Our room was large and clean. We travel with an infant and a toddler and they already had the crib and extra cot set up before we arrived as well as baby wash for a bath. The staff was friendly and helpful. We would absolutely stay here again and again. If you can get room 505 its a corner room with a view of the harbor that is so beautiful I could stay on the terrace the whole time. My only (very minor) complaint would be that there was just two chairs on the terrace and no table of any kind (no where to set coffee cups or wine glasses as you sit and enjoy the view). Also, if you didn't have a vehicle it would be a bit of a walk to the more center part of town though since we did have a car I found it just secluded and quiet enough to be lovely.

Exceptionally bad service.

Posted Jun 18, 2015 on Hotels
I had booked a room through Hotels.com. When I arrived at the hotel, the receptionist said that they hadn't received my booking. I rang Hotels.com and they tried to find out what had happened. While I was on the phone, the receptionist - a very grumpy old man with no interest in the guests - shouted to me, that now he had just rented out the last room so the hotel was full. Okay great! I was on the phone with Hotels.com for 1 1/2 hour (can't wait to receive my phone bill.) They tried to find me another hotel, but everything was full. We hung up and I drove off. 10 minutes later Hotels.com called and told me that the receptionist had found my reservation. I drove back to the grumpy old receptionist. When he saw me he didn't say anything, I had to make the approach:-) He told me in a very annoying way, that the reservation wasn't from Hotels.com but from Expedia (he sounded like it was my fault.) I got so upset, and asked him if he thought that it was my job to be aware of HIS business partners. What a f.cking .ssh.le The room was disappointing, with a tiny television you couldn't see from the bed and dirty old carpets. The view from the balcony was spectacular!
