Always spotless, well-maintained, and right on the water! Why would we stay anywhere else?

It’s ok

There is not a phone out an alarm clock in the room. This is ridiculous no wake up call

Thank you for staying with us. I am sorry you were not totally satisfied during your stay. We do have many rooms that do not have phones. In today's world most people seem to have cell phones and do not utilize our wake up service. I would hope that if you requested a call my front desk would have placed a wake up call to your cell phone. Now, for the alarm clock this is a different story, If I knew who you were, I would have had an alarm clock right to your door immediately. I am so sorry we did not service you to the best of our abilities.

Every thing was neatly organized and working

Pros: It is immediately beside the beach...which I love. The rates are reasonable, and it is pet friendly.
Cons: No problems were experienced during our stay.
Location: It is right beside the beach and within walking distance of many restaurants.
I liked the dining area that was available. Last time we had stay this was not available, so it was really nice. There was a good selection of items available during the breakfast.

Great stay at the beach with my dogs

John Youncey Hotel was very accommodating and I have no complaints at all. I stayed in room 522, just a few doors down from stepping out o to the beach. The hotel is a dated, but it was very clean. They were very welcoming of my two small dogs, which was great because other hotels were not, and they wanted to charge more. I went in October. The weather was perfect and rates were low. Can't beat the price for staying right on the beach.

The carpet in the room needed cleaned. Bottom of your feet were black. The bed wasn't made on the second day. No breakfast on Saturday. Breakfast was lousy the first day. Dirty washcloths were left in the bathtub. Would not stay there again

I would recommend this place. The staff is great, and they helped me a lot when my car wasn't working. They found us a room immediately and gave a discount. The Inn is right on the beach with a very nice restaurant across the street. You are very close to Jockey's Ridge and The Wright Brothers Memorial. Be very careful of the water. There are no lifeguards at this time, and my 5 year old son was swept away by a big wave. I barely managed to save him. I recommend staying away from the water, especially children!!!

Decent Dog-friendly hotel

Pros: Great location, friendly staff, allows dogs.
Cons: Musty smell in the room.
One of the few hotels in OBX that allows dogs. Great location at about MP 9.5 and It's right on the beach which is nice. Staff is friendly and helpful. Beds were nice and firm but room smelled musty and drove my sinuses crazy. Wonder when it was last vacuumed. Free breakfast is worthless.

I've been going to the Outer Banks since 1964 when I was just 8 years old. The John Yancey has always been there.,As a kid, my family always stayed in cottages known as "Gregory's Cottages". These were just next door to The Cats Meow cottages, which are now Miller's Cottages. The site where Gregory's cottages were is now Seawalk. This trip I finally got to experience the John Yancey Hotel and show my husband up close where some of the happiest moments of my childhood were spent.
