Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Kimanjo?
For a true safari experience in Kimanjo, the best area to stay is within the private conservancies bordering the main reserve, such as those near the Ewaso Ng'iro River.

These conservancies offer exclusive access to wildlife viewing and a more secluded experience. They are characterized by vast, unspoiled landscapes, often with views of Mount Kenya in the distance, and are less crowded than public park areas. Accommodations here typically consist of luxury tented camps or lodges, providing comfort while maintaining a close connection to nature. This setting is ideal for couples seeking a romantic and intimate safari adventure.

Families traveling with children will find these conservancies particularly appealing due to the tailored activities often available. Many lodges offer guided bush walks, cultural visits to local communities, and educational programs designed to engage younger guests with the natural environment.
When is the best time to go to Kimanjo?
The best time to go to Kimanjo is during the dry seasons, specifically from July to October and again from January to March.

These periods offer the most pleasant weather conditions for wildlife viewing and outdoor activities. The dry landscape means animals congregate around fewer water sources, making them easier to spot. The roads are also in better condition, ensuring smoother travel within the conservancies and to various attractions. This is particularly beneficial for travelers seeking a comfortable and predictable safari experience.

For those interested in seeing newborn animals and lush green scenery, the short rainy season in November and December can be a good option, though it comes with the possibility of intermittent showers. This time can be appealing to couples seeking a more intimate and less crowded experience, as it's outside the peak tourist season.
