The room definitely needed some upgrading. The headboard was broken and the wallpaper coming off. The toilet seat was stained, and the shower didn’t work properly.

I last stayed here in December 2018 and decided to book again on 25/03/2023 for 1 night as a stopover visiting family whilst travelling down South. There were three of us and we checked in at 930pm. The hotel looked as good as last time when we pulled up. There were a few folk in the lounge as we walked to reception. We were attended to straight away and we received complementary room upgrades (Rooms 214 and 215). Our rooms were clean, tidy and modern. We didn't have dinner or breakfast so I can't comment on that although I did use the gym. There are less machines than I remembered but they were in good working order. The pool was closed for maintenance so I couldn't use it. The hotel seemed very quiet but I was very pleased with the facilities and would definitely come back again.

The staff are brilliant and very professional..unfortunately the standard of the food served has dropped dramatically ..lots of the items on the menu were cold , some looked like they were reheats and in general a huge turn off ...it's a pity because it was very good on previous visits ..any furure visit will not include meals.

The staff were immensely helpful and courteous. The facility was very safe, lovely and in a serene environment. The restaurant facilities were very neat, presentable, and brilliant as well. We even had a free upgrade. Thanks guys!

We stayed here as we got a great rate through Expedia and it had a swimming pool. . Bed wasn't the most comfortable and we didn't eat there but chose to get pizza from the Italian at the roundabout in Aviemore which we know is good. Can't complain for the money we paid but wouldn't go in it's busy period.

Never been to a hotel with so many rules. Booked the Half board but wasn't allowed to use all the restaurants and the main buffet was limited and of average quality. Adults MUST be in the pool with the kids, even though mine are competent swimmers I wasn't allowed to sit at the side of the pool whilst they swam. The Funhouse is good, but the Bowling Alley was damaged and closed as were a few of the games. But there is no entry after 5pm. I stayed at the hotel as my kids are bored at night in hotels and thought this entertainment of Pool, Table Tennis, Bowling, Arcades would be ideal but I couldn't use it any evening. Breakfast was really good. Overall I would not recommend this for familes, unless you are going to remain in the hotel all day. Really could be a special place that I would return to often with my kids, but they ruined it all with the lack of access.

Staff were lovely and the accommodation was clean and well presented. Pool was fantastic and the wee arcade was so handy as was the fun house across the road. Only issue we had was noise. The walls are quite thin and kids in surrounding rooms spent way to much time being allowed to scream and shout and run up the hallway

I loved this place, so glad I came & glad I wasn't put off by some reviews, It has such a vintage Charm 😍 I stayed longer than I booked for, For a woman travelling alone with a dog, its the perfect safe haven, pool, beautiful lounge, dated room..but like I said , love that vintage charm, clean & comfy, beautiful view of the woods, I've had the best holiday & I'm sad to leave, met some great people , Location is wonderful & its great for children here too, Go have a great time here 👍👍👍😊

Check in staff and waiters all really friendly. Room was spacious but dated. Restaurant offers a 3 course buffet for £25 which was way too high, especially when the food was cold and the choices were bleak. It was OK!

I’ll admit, based on previous reviews, our expectations were low. However after a long day in the hills check in was friendly and efficient. The room was a little dated, but clean and comfortable, with basic amenities. We had a dinner package included with our deal. It was a buffet, which whilst not winning any gourmet food awards, was hot and filling. There was soup and a variety of salads to start, assorted meats, fish, vegetarian, chips, veg etc for mains, then assorted cakes and ice cream for pudding. Breakfast was a similar set up with a variety of cereals, breads, yoghurts and fruits and cooked options. The staff were always friendly and helpful. We did stay in a quieter time, so I wonder if this helped our experience. All in all I’d definitely stay again.

Great family hotel
Great trip. Hotel has plenty of social space whilst rooms are a decent size. Staff are super friendly. Hotel seems to be working hard to improve most things. Went over Christmas with another family and had a great time. Very relaxed hotel that's very kind friendly.

Nice hotel. Would stay again. Pool was quite cold so didn’t stay in it long. Has all the facility’s though. Play centre next door which is great if you have kids. Would stay again.

The property really needs some investment within the guest areas. Also the swimming pool opening is limited to 2 hours in the morning and two late afternoon.

The property is dated and the room was badly in need of a new bed and overall upgrade. We were there in November, which should be high season for winter sport guests, but our room was so cold we had to request a space heater. No dinner service on a week day and breakfast buffet was the worst of our Scotland stay.

No laundry service, long wait at the front desk for check-in
We waited 55 minutes in line to check into the hotel. The hotels.com website says there are laundry services and there are NONE. This was the sole reason for us to stay at this hotel. The hotel room was hot even with the heat off and the window open. The doors are very quick to slam. We were assigned an ADA room and the shower flooded the entire bathroom. I was able to get two free breakfast vouchers due to all of our inconveniences at this hotel.

Check in was very very slow and archaic process. Had to book the pool and Waited 15 mins for that. No heating in the room that can be controlled. Spa wasn’t very good. All in all a very poor experience for what claims to be 4*. I think they get away with it as the area is so lovely.

Better than expected... if you like kids and dogs
I didn't expect a luxury hotel and I wasn't disappointed. Everything was okay, almost good, but nothing was very good or great. Rooms were clean, basic, but certainly adequate. Buffet at breakfast and dinner was quite acceptable and a decent selection, but more a tracksuit bottoms and T-shirt/vest affair than dressing for dinner, but restaurant booking arrangements were a pain and ineffective - we had to wait until after 6:30 pm and yet, on visiting the restaurant at 5:30 pm, it was less than 30% of capacity. That said, I'm sure would be a clamer place outside of school holidays. Pool was okay, but again, booking arrangements didn't work too well. All-in-all, we might go back but only because kids enjoyed it, but too many screaming kids running around and parents unable or unwilling to control them means we wouldn't consider it for adults only stay.There were times when some of the kids and adults (let's say, quite a few 'rough and ready' types) made it feel more like a Butlins than a four star hotel. However, we always felt safe and secure and we were happy to let kids (10 and 12) explore and entertain themselves. Location was excellent for our purposes - Landmark and Avimore activities.
