Spacious rooms with a view

Pros: Central, great veiws,beds were enormous and comfy !
Cons: After hours service, assistance and information to assist when booking + a/h. No or little reception on site, maybe this was because of the Xmas break
Location: Central, near beaches, jetty, fishing, shopping
Huge bed, spacious room which was very clean. Although in the centre of town was very quiet, walking distance to shops, places of interest, beach, fishing of the jetty. Quite expensive.

Tranquil environment in Kingscote

We love this location. It is tranquil, peaceful, relaxing in this area of Kingscote. Just 1 min walk to sea. We love the spacious room. I would like to give 5* for cleanliness Will definitely recommend this hotel.

Nice hotel on the ocean

Very nice hotel situated on the oceanfront. The room was very comfortable with a great view and the restaurant had some great food selections.

Modernised hotel right on the water

Pros: Location right on the waterfront, the staff, nice comfortable room, easy walking distance to shops and restaurants (when open!), parking out front.
Cons: In house movies. Breakfast was very ordinary. Received reply today re Facebook Messenger queries on the 7th Dec before we left - we got home yesterday
Location: Overlooking Nepean Bay, right around the corner from shops and eateries, very peaceful and relaxed setting.
Although we had envisaged the Executive Room with sea views we had booked would be in the new section across the road, we were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the renovated room and bathroom we had in the original section of the hotel. Walking up from reception over creaky floorboards and stairs, our first impressions were vastly improved by the corridor to the room - we could have been in a Hilton somewhere. The room itself wasn't overly spacious (there was just the 2 of us), but the king size bed was super comfortable and the bathroom small but nicely fitted out. The shower head was massive, none of those piddly water saving ones here! Access to the balcony was hindered somewhat by one side of the double doors jammed shut, but this was easily fixed by me. No divisions on the balcony meant anybody could stroll past at any time, but that was ok. My wife had called beforehand to confirm there was at least a DVD player in the room (no in house movies) and was assured there was, but on arrival there wasn't. We were told that was only in the new section, however the lady on reception did her best and provided us with one, though it looked like it had come from Noah's Ark. It was a VHS/DVD combo, so none of our blue ray movies worked anyway. In summary though, we'd be back in a heartbeat :)

Great view from room

Room was older but was clean and the shower was good. Had a lovely view out to the ocean. Wait and bar staff were average to poor, they needed alot more training. Coffee was some of the worst we've ever had. Even after bringing it to their attention it wasn't improved. Parking on the street isnt ideal either.

Do not stay in roomm 38

They have two buildings. Unfortunately we were the last to check in And left in The last room, No.38. It is located between two levels and every guests on level two will pass our door, which made me feel uncomfortable. The only view we can see was the rooftop of level one. The room was ok. A bit old though.. not as good as showed on display pics. The staff were friendly. Won’t recommend to friends.

False advertising

We were given a room in the old area of the hotel across the road from the photo advertised. Not what we were expecting at all. When I asked the girl in reception why we were not in the area advertised she replied that this was also part of the establishment. The entry was dark and smelly just very gross. Would definitely not recommend this area to anyone .

The good, the bad and the ugly.

The hotel staff was friendly, hard working and very helpful. However the quality of the dinner food was inconsistent. I had the lamb shank one night and it was cooked to perfection but the very next night it was tough and dry. One night the service was spot on but the next night our dessert arrived a half hour after it was ordered. I believe the dinner crew are understaffed and they have a difficult time when the large tour groups arrive in town. Our room was clean and it had a nice view of the water but the wifi reception was terrible. Given a choice, I would avoid room 251. The bed is hard and this room is near the elevator and adjacent to the maid's storage room. The noise at 7:30 AM from the elevator and the maids will awaken those who are light sleepers. This could be a top quality hotel if management could develop more consistency all around.

Visiting Kangaroo Island Kingscote is the place

Well located larger hotel on first class view of the beach/sea. Rooms were comfortable in size but you would not want to be any smaller, clean, tidy and comfortable. En-suite was on the small size but functional. Staff always seemed to be friendly and helpful. Perhaps a characteristic of the whole island. The room was upstairs with access via the staircase and nowadays we try and avoid taking everything upstairs and back downstairs, if we can. Parking was close at hand.
