Spacious quiet room with fabulous breakfast

Posted Feb 7, 2017
Pros: Quiet environment. The evening Mix from Monday to Wednesday was a plus. At least I get to say hellos to the staff and some guests.
Cons: Good if there is more info (display on board or brochures) on the places of interests, car rentals, etc as well as the map of Kingston
Ample space making our family extremely comfortable. No need cramp within small hotel rooms. Breakfast was really welcoming and satisfying and it starts our day great and happy

Mixed experience

Posted Feb 6, 2017
Pros: Views, size of the room and proximity to the downtown core.
Cons: Better breakfast hours, more reasonable parking cost and staff demeanor (for some staff) in dealing with guests.
Location: The hotel is close to downtown Kingston and many of the tourist sights in the city.
I have stayed at this hotel on several occasions on visits to Kingston and have enjoyed my prior visits, but was disappointed on this visit. We were pleasantly surprised at check-in when told that we were being upgraded to a bigger room with 2 bedrooms. Though the 2nd bedroom was not needed, the enhanced view of the lake and extra space was appreciated - it appears that the original room was not available, hence the upgrade. From there, the experience was less than satisfactory for the following reasons. 1. Parking (at $18/day) for an outdoor spot (in the cold), as there is limited indoor parking, was a bit excessive. 2. Inconvenient breakfast time (7-10am), especially for the weekend. Because it's the weekend, it appears many people sleep in and have breakfast between 9:30-10am, just before it closes, resulting in long lineups. Extending breakfast to 11am on the weekend would make sense. 3. Room service failed to empty the trash can in the kitchen after the first night. 4. On the last day, a request was made for an hour extension of the check-out time and this was met with a very rude response from the checkout desk with no explanation as to why the request was not possible - this left a very sour taste with us. As mentioned, I have stayed at this hotel most times on my visits to Kingston and have generally enjoyed my stay, but the experience on this visit will cause me to look at other options on my next visit.

Dear TO visitor, Thank you for sharing your experience from your recent stay at the Residence Inn by Marriott Kingston. We are sorry to hear that we were not able to exceed your expectations this visit. I would like to apologize for the service inconsistencies that you experienced during your stay. While we do our best to provide late checkouts whenever possible, there are some instances where we are sold out the following evening and therefore late check-outs are not available. We do understand that some guests enjoy sleeping in on the weekends and that is why we have adjusted the breakfast time. Thank you for your suggesting on adjusting it further, it is something that will be discussed with the management team. We hope that you will provide us with the opportunity to exceed your expectations on your next visit to Kingston. Sincerely, Veronica

Great location, modern, customer focused staff

Posted Feb 1, 2017
Pros: Everything. Modern, great size rooms and everything you need was there. It made my whole experience that mire relaxing.
Cons: I'm not sure if they advise which rooms have contained pets. Where I come from this is not a norm, and something I only became recently aware.
Location: Dental and working distance to the tourism area. Great location, great view on the waters edge.
From the moment of check-in to check-out , the service and quality of the room and amenities will live up to the highest expectation. All staff, whether front desk, services room or working with the food service area, all display great interpersonal sills, make you feel well come at every touch point and your stay relaxing. I've stayed in other hotel location on the waterfront now over a period of three years and I have reyrned to this hotel (except when booked out) forcing m yo other locations, so I consider my views unbaised and fair. Value from for money, amenities and location make this hotel my number choice if staying in Kingston. Thank you to all staff for making me feel part of your family whist enjoying my stay in your beautiful hotel. Ps. Thankyou for the snow this year, it added to my experiences. Regards. Dave

Truly a residence worth trying.

Posted Jan 29, 2017
Pros: Everything was perfect.
Cons: Parking. Having to pay such a steep price for parking was a disappointment, I'd much rather see this included with the price up front.
Location: Kingston had SO many things to do, we must go back!
We usually chose 2 star hotels, to economize, but decided to step it up for a special occasion. The suite was wonderful and well worth the price we paid. We only wish we could have stayed longer. The complete kitchen was awesome, and if there hadn't been such a great breakfast buffet provided with the cost, we could have eaten in.

very convenient location

Posted Jan 28, 2017
Pros: spacious rooms; convenient location; breakfast choices
Cons: sofa bed was very uncomfortable to sit on
very convenient location, were able to walk to where we needed to go. Breakfast choices were extensive. Room was spacious but closet space was not. Having 2 bathrooms was a bonus. A shame we didn't need to use the well equipped kitchen.

Anniversary getaway....from the kids

Posted Jan 25, 2017
It was an amazing hotel and the staff was just as great! I love the area and was beyond happy when I found out that Fort Henry was within walking distance! We stayed in one of the rooms that was a mini apartment and we loved the fact that it had a full kitchen, full size fridge and KING SIZE BED! My fiance and I have decided that we will be this hotel in Kingston our yearly anniversary getaway ☺
