HOTEL WITH GREAT VIEW OF AURORA

Posted Apr 7, 2017
Pros: AURORA PLACE.
Location: A BIT OUT OF CITY CENTER BUT IN WALKING DISTANCE.
WE CHOSE THE HOTEL BY ACCIDENT BUT THE STAY WAS GREAT VALUE. THEY HAVE ASSIGNED SPOT TO VIEW THE NORTHERN LIGHT WHICH WAS VERY STRONG THE NIGHT WE SPENT. LUCKY US. WE WERE LATE AND SO HUNGRY BECAUSE OF THE AVALANCHE EFFECT, THE RECEPTION EVEN HOLD THE CHEF TO COOK US THE MEAL AT LAST MINUTE. THANK YOU VERY MUCH

Winter activity is expensive

Posted Feb 23, 2017 on Hotels
It was amazing. Everything is so beautiful there except the winter activity is very expensive. I stay there for 3 days and 2 nights and only afford to book 1 winter activity. The rest of the days I spend time on playing snow with my wife and daughter, If not we will just be in the cabin watching TV show. Overall we miss Kiruna because of the white snow. We have no problem with the staff down there.

Warm hideaway for winter, with lots of activities

Posted Feb 15, 2017
Pros: The staff are very welcoming, helpful and spoke good English. Warm, comfy cabin and beds, useful fridge and microwave. Good breakfast
Cons: Lunch menu was a little restricted, particularly for guests with allergies.
Location: Wonderful mountain views, lots of tours and activities
A warm, welcoming cabin, with useful kitchenette and comfy beds. Good, varied breakfast in the restaurant. Lots of winter activities to occupy both daylight and evening hours and if you want to do your own thing, the walking and skiing start just outside. All the staff are very kind and helpful and also all speak good English.

Great home base for Kirun Adventures

Posted Jan 21, 2017 on Hotels
The rooms are similar to a drive up motel cabins but without all the downsides of such a room. Very nice modern, clean, spacious rooms. Breakfast was good. Very comfortable stay.

Great place to stay to see the lights!

Posted Jan 12, 2017 on Hotels
It was good as they had a good range of breakfast buffet. A little disappointed when the 2bed was actually the living room and another bunk room. No privacy for the open spaces "second room" but otherwise it was a great stay! Saw the best lights over there!

Camp Ripan is a unique accommodation and the scenery around it is simply breathtaking! Reception service is excellent. The only setback is the cabin accommodation is a bit too small for a family of five

Amazing hotel with terrible spa experience

Posted Dec 16, 2016
Pros: Location, room cleanliness, food, free luggage storage, hotel and lunch staff.
Cons: Spa staff and experience.
Location: Dog sledding, snowmobiling, reindeer sledding, outdoor snow activities, northern lights.
Great location for chasing the northern lights - clean and includes kitchenette. The lunch was superb and affordable. You might be confused if you are waiting for a table at dinner time - the staff would walk by us and stare and not say anything like "we will be with you shortly," but someone will eventually seat you. We booked the spa for 2 nights but cancelled the 2nd night due to the way we were treated by one of the staff. She ignored our Swedish but we were happy to speak English with her. She didn't explain the spa ritual very well so we didn't know we were supposed to go through these back doors in the locker rooms. When we got changed and came out of the locker rooms we were both talked to as if we were misbehaving children and she raised her voice and pronounced every syllable as if we were hearing impaired. The spa was overcrowded and full of loud people who stole our robes while we were in the sauna and outdoor hot tub. When we got extra robes we were also yelled at, but what were we supposed to do? We just came out from a hot tub into the freezing cold and needed a robe and we weren't about to try to steal our robes back especially after someone else was wearing it. It wasn't a very relaxing first time spa experience and I would not recommend it to anyone unless you have a large group you are going with that could fill the max capacity for that time slot. I was called and given an apology which I appreciate, but it didn't make me want to go back there.

We are very sorry to hear about your spa visit. It should not be like this. We are happy that our staff has called you and asked for an apology. But again, we are truly sorry for this disappointing experience. Our spa is something that we are very proud to be able to offer our guest. And we want a nice and calmful experience for everyone. We should be delighted to have you as guests again and get the opportunity to show you our hospitality as it should be experienced. Kind regards Evelina Mikko Front desk Camp Ripan
