2 days and 3 nights in Alcoa

Posted Aug 15, 2015
Pros: Just outside the Airport, it was surprisingly quiet.
Cons: coffee maker?
Location: Plenty of restaurants, service, fast food, near by, and only minutes away from Knoxville.
Very nice room with plenty of space and features, parking was excellent, and the staff were all very pleasant.

Good hotel close to airport

Posted Jun 13, 2015
Pros: coffee maker in room! let;s make some hot water to drink
Cons: may need a Dont Disturb tag then the maid would not knock the door for several times in the morning...
Location: the only problem is the noise of aircraft. inevitable for all the hotels near airport. fortunately, no flight at mid night.
This hotel was unbelievable nice comparing with the hotel near newark airport, as i flew from nyc to knoxville for a visit :) It was renovated and clean, and the AC worked well to keep a comfort temperature. I lived there for two nights, really satisfied.

Old, dirty, broken

Posted Jun 13, 2015
Pros: Price, but not worth it.
Cons: Reconstruction and new manager.
Location: Good places to eat but very heavy traffic and hard to get out of parking lot and have to u-turn on very busy highway to get anywhere.
The place was very old. The carpet was dirty enough to make my socks black. The full length mirror on the wall was cracked. The seat cushion on the couch was busted open. The armrest on the couch were dirty and oily. The dresser was broken on the bottom exposing a nail. The furniture looked like flea market or thrift store rejects. The tub had mildew around grout. No iron or ironing board in room. Checked out iron and table top ironing board from front desk and had to return when done using. The ironing board cover was soiled and stained. Beginning of landing strip from airport directly across the street and airplanes flew over and landed about every 30 minutes and the reverse thrush from jet engine was so loud it shook the room door. Worse night stay at a hotel I have ever experienced. When I told manager I was going to check out early, he said "OK with me, you paid in advanced, so I already have my money from Expedia for the entire week".

It was "OK"

Posted Jun 11, 2015
Pros: Although I did n to use the pool, it did look clean and refreshing.
Cons: Airport shuttle system. Small black mold spot in shower ceiling.
Location: Not much. Shoney's restaurant is within walking distance, but no sidewalk on a dangerous very busy highway.
Airport "shuttle" has a weird arrangement. The hotel will take you to the airport, but will not come pick you up at the airport, forcing you to take a taxi to the hotel for a flat rate of $10. NOTE: The hotel is only about 2 miles from the airport on the same street just down the road - just out of walking distance with luggage. I suspect some sort of scheme, since the "metered" taxis will not use a meter for this service and charge the flat rate of $10.

Stayed here last year, and decided to go back as it was great price and comfortable. Could use some updating especially pool, but has the most comfortable bed we slept in out of 3 hotels on our week and half trip.

Smell, bad TV

Posted May 21, 2015
No sound on Fox News Channel, even in the lobby. Smelled so bad! We couldn't get used to it. Clothes still stunk when we got home. No way this was a non-smoke room, even though there was a sign by the door. Window Curtain hanging off the rod. Otherwise ok.

For the money, it works. Staff is friendly, room smelled a lil musty and the airport was near by so it could be loud for some light sleepers. Bathroom was a lil small, and air conditioner was a lil louder than I would have wanted. But for the low price, it's worth it's value.

Days Inn Alcoa

Posted May 17, 2015 on Hotels
Thankfully, I only needed this hotel for night before flying out of TYS. If I had time to use the pool, it would have been too dirty to enjoy it. Breakfast, if you can call it that, is included in the room. Cream cheese, no bagels; apple juice was sour. Best part was the Belgian Waffle maker.

Lovely staff, OK hotel

Posted May 17, 2015
Pros: That they changed my room for me when I requested it
Cons: Tea bags and creamer in the rooms and at breakfast.
Location: Good location for supermarkets and restaurants but only the kind you stop up when you're passing through.
Rooms were fine, the second was cleaner than the first (just a little dust in the corners etc). Housekeeping attended everyday and staff were very friendly and accommodating. Little in the way of breakfast beyond a very basic continental but at $35/night you can't expect more. I would go back due to convenience and price. Bit noisy as right underneath flightpath but what can you do
