Perfect for a city break with young adult sons.

Posted Aug 18, 2017
Pros: Clean, well maintained and a great breakfast.
Cons: Gym equipment could do with repairing/updating.
Location: Well located, near public transport links with the sites about 1/2 hour walk/metro. Cafes and supermarket within walking distance. US Embassy close.
Visited Athens for the first time in nearly thirty years, this time with my wife and sons (16 and 20). The hotel price was competitive compared to others in less salubrious parts of Athens, and was within a 5-10 minute walk to the Metro which took us to the city centre within minutes. The rooms were large, clean, and well-maintained. Bathrooms were spotless and modern and the beds incredibly comfortable. It's wise to include breakfast in your visit, as eating out was the biggest cost of our trip. The breakfast at the hotel was an absolute marvel and catered for every preference, although vegans might struggle. Our party included a vegetarian, a type 1 diabetic, and a relatively conservative British diner, as well as myself who will eat almost anything; however, even with these vagaries, the selection offered varied each day and never failed to both please, and fortify us for a long day of walking around the the city. The gym was slightly disappointing, with no cross trainer and a broken multi-machine, but I was able to run and complete a daily weights session in relative privacy. A steam room and sauna were also available. The staff were outstanding. In particular, the daily maid's call left the room immaculate, and the breakfast staff cheerful welcome and attentive service helped start each day perfectly. If I ever return to Athens, which I hope to, I would certainly return to the Vassilikos, and encourage you to do the same. FIVE STARS TOTALLY EARNED.

HORRBLE, DO NOT STAY HERE! BEDBUGS!!!!!

Posted Aug 14, 2017
We booked this hotel with expedia and stayed from 8/3-8/10 in room 218. After a few days, we noticed lots of bites appearing on our body. We thought maybe it was mosquito bites and went to a pharmacy to get some anti itch cream. However, more bites kept appearing and it was extremely extremely red and itchy in clusters and looked unlike bug bites. When we told the hotel staff it might be bed bugs, they said they would change our sheets, which did not help. After returning home, we saw a doctor who confirmed it was bed bugs. We had to boil and wash all our clothes which basically ruined them. Worse, when I reached out to the hotel to let them know of this issue through their room review survey, I received no feedback or apologizes or even a response. I am extremely dissatisfied with this service.

Dear Erick, I would like to sincerely apologise for not responding earlier to our survey and to your review, but due to a technical issue that has not yet been resolved we do not have access to our survey answers. Concerning the issue you mention, after talking to the staff and to our front office manager, they have informed me that during your stay you were given the option to change room but prefered not to so they instead changed your sheets, looking for bedbugs, which they did not find. After your departure your room was checked by our partner who specialises in such matters and his report was negative about the room being infected. I am sorry that you experienced such a stay in our establishment and I am at your disposal for any further help I may provide. Please feel free to contact me directly at any time convenient for you, Sincerely, Evgenios Vassilikos General Manager

Area - not so pleasant - next to petrol station

Posted Jul 25, 2017
Pros: Some staff members were pleasant and accommodating; cleanliness of rooms
Cons: Breakfast, and delivery of what was booked and paid for.
Location: You have to walk to the centre... otherwise not much
We were disappointed as we booked Junior Suite with twin beds and a sofa but instead we got king size bed. If I knew that this was going to be the case, I would have not booked this hotel but instead opted for another hotel closer to the centre. The answer was... sorry but they are booked. In my confirmation, I had them booked as well. Option offered for 2nd night was an upgraded room but added 2 rollaway beds - not comfortable. so we declined. Buffet breakfast hot food... not in chaffing dishes and was not hot... I had high expectations for a 5star hotel and was let down.

Dear guest, At first we would like to thank you for choosing the Airotel Stratos Vassilikos for your stay in Athens. We also thank you for taking the time to share your comments with us which we truly value. We appreciate your positive remarks about the staff, I will personally pass my congratulations to them for your kind words. It pleases us that you found the cleanliness at your expectations. On the other hand it disappoints us that our junior suite did not meet your expectations. I understand the upgrading to a master suite did not suit your preference which I have marked. Our daily effort to provide the best available services to our guest would not be reached without your help. Thus we have taken all your comments into consideration and will do our best to correct what is needed. We are looking forward in a future visit and are certain you will have only positive experience with our hospitality with your proportionate preferences. Kind regards, Thodoris Evaggelopoulos Front Office Manager

Nice hotel, recently refurbished and nicely decor.

Posted Jul 16, 2017
Pros: Clean. We like the deco: peaceful off-white colours, some flowers, contemporary decoration. The staff was polite.
Cons: N/A
Location: The Metro is 5 min away. A ticket is around £1.20. You can go to Acropolis, Plaka, flee market, wander in the streets.
It was easy to get to places by bus or Metro which are 5 min away. Athens's Metro is simple to use. The Metro or buses can take you to the airport. (around 45 min) 10 euros for Metro, 6.50 for buses. People were friendly and helpful and many speak at least basic English. We had breakfast at the hotel and there was lots of different English and continental. food, pastries, bread and juices.

Nice, more than adequate hotel in a good location.

Posted Jun 19, 2017
Pros: See (write about your experience).
Cons: See (write about your experience).
Location: The hotel is near US Embassy. There are local restaurants away from the city centre that are nice and not so touristy, to include a bakery near metro.
Summary: a) The staff upon arrival (evening timeframe, particularly George) was friendly, helpful, and knowledgable about the hotel and surrounding area, more so than the daytime staff (daytime staff did not seem as knowledgeable); b) The restaurant food was very tasty and staff helpful during dinner timeframe; restaurant staff makes an effort to satisfy its guest; c) Elevators are very small and tight, but that is normal for many small hotels in Europe; d) The hotel is located near the US Embassy and the area appears to be safe; e) there are many local restaurants close by; f) The city center is about 30-35 minutes away [it's about a 15 min (+/-) walk to the transit train/metro and then 15 min (+/-) ride/wait (transit/metro) to city center]; g) the hotel says it's a 4 star hotel, but in my opinion, it's more like a 3 star hotel (room was comfortable, more than adequate, clean, bathroom is good, beds are ok; good for a short stay); h) The interior decor of the hotel looks a bit dated/old and could stand to be updated/renovated, but again it is more than adequate for a nice vacation in Greece (nice, quaint and clean, and decent location
