Relaxing long weekend

Pros: Welcoming and endlessly attentive staff, comfortable rooms, good public areas. Excellent health club with free daily classes for Tai Chi, yoga, etc.
Cons: On arrival, offered room upgrade, at extra cost. Didn't like that thrust on me without warning. Would have preferred by email a couple of days before
Location: Hotel is on Klong Muang beach, with saling and golf on site. Not much nearby but plenty in Ao Nang, a taxi ride away.
My wife and I had a 3 day break, with the objective of relaxing and recharging batteries. In that respect our trip was a great success. Our first trip to Krabi, so we did not know that the hotel was on Klong Muang Beach, some considerable distance (25 mins taxi) to the main tourist drag at Ao Nang. However, if you want peace and quiet, you can take that as a plus factor. As we were staying in August, which is off-season, all but one of the hotel's restaurants were closed for refurbishment, necessitating evening trips to Ao Nang. I would probably having given the facilities a higher rating if the place was fully operational.The hotel has the longest pool I have ever seen and lots of space around it at this time of year. We played the golf course a couple of times. All the 9 holes are par 3, bar one, but it is a proper small golf course, not a pitch-and-putt.

Very nice property

We stayed for 5 nights. Nice property with an excellent pool. Location is far from Aonang beach but hotel shuttle is provided. Would recommend it

Overall a fantastic holiday with friendly helpful staff who were always helpful. Everything was to a high standard even though it was at low season.

Decevant - pas un "vrai" Sofitel

Bonjour, Cet hôtel est mediocre pour les raisons suivantes: - Etat general : parc mal entretenu, pelouse du golf sale et brulée, murs de l'hôtel sales et décrépits - Localisation : ne donne pas directement sur la plage mais sur une route rapide... - Personnel : le mot d'ordre est "desolé ce n'est pas possible" par exemple les excursion en bateau proposé sur le site ne sont possinle qu'à partir de 6 participants, aucune offre de replis. En insistant vigoureusement ils ont trouvé quelque chose. Des insuffisances a chaque étapes : acceuil mediocre et long, menage rapide et peu soigneux, conciergerie ubuesque, management inexistant, etc. - Divers : ambiance village vacances pour familles chinoises, europeens fuyez surtout si le mot luxe vous parle Par ailleurs, les tailles de chambre annoncées ne correspondent pas du tout à la réalité, environ 30% plus petites terrasse comprise. Le point positif est le SPA qui offre des massages avec des produits de qualité.

Cher(e) Madame, Monsieur, Bonjour, Nous vous remercions tout d`abord d’avoir récemment séjourné au Sofitel Krabi Phokeethra et pour le temps que vous avez consacré à nous faire connaître vos impressions. Après lecture attentive de votre commentaire et au regard de la faible note attribuée, nous aimerions bien entendu premièrement vous présenter nos plus sincères excuses pour ne pas avoir eu l’occasion de vous proposer et vous servir les services tels que vous les attendiez en venant chez Sofitel. De là à le caractériser comme un établissement médiocre, au regard des excellentes et très bonnes revues majoritairement reçues sur presque plus de 2,000, permettez-nous d`en douter fortement et ce malgré vos commentaires constructifs. Il n`enleve en effet en rien l`attention toute particuliere que nous portons pour vos commentaires. En ces périodes de chaleur extrême, comme la Thailande ne la jamais connue depuis plus d`une quarantaine d`années, la vegatation comme la pelouse du golf (malgré l`arrosage quotidien et intermittent grâce à des camions remplis d`eau) est en effet un defi majeur. Quant à la plage, elle est en effet publique et nous organisons tous les mois des néttoyages réguliers pour la maintenir en bonne condition. La route sépare en effet l`hotel de la plage et un gardien se charge de vous faire traverser en toute sécurité. Concernant les excursions privées avec les bateaux Sofitel, un minimum de 6 personnes est en effet nécessaire. Néanmoins, nous sommes également flexible en fonction de vos envies. Outre les bateaux Sofitel, il y a toujours une alternative extérieure envisageable. Nous sommes surpris également de lire vos commentaires sur la taille des chambres. Nous avons des chambres individuelles, qui sont, puis que vous avez l`habitude de voyager dans nos hotels Sofitel et notamment au Sofitel Le Louise, largement plus grandes que d`autres hotels. C`est d`ailleurs la force de notre établissement et une qualité largement portée par nos clients. Quant au service d`accueil et en chambre, une fois de plus nous regrettons fortement votre déception. Aussi, nous apprécierons énormément si vous pouviez nous contacter et nous fournir des details supplémentaires. J`ai par ailleurs pris la liberté de partager vos commentaires encouragant aux equipes du Spa. Nous n`avions malheureusement pas eu connaissance de votre impression durant votre séjour et nous restons persuadé que nous aurions pu s`arranger autrement. spacious room and excellent pool. However...

1) disappointed by the airport pick-up service. Our flight to Krabi was flight for one hour, but instead of being greeted by the Sofitel Van, we were greeted by an old and dirty van. 2) Upon arrival, I was questioned about the breakfast arrangement, I had to show the booking receipt in order to proof that breakfast should be included in my booking. 3) Didn't know Maya, the coffee shop, was closed for lunch and dinner because of private function through my entire stay (was told by the staff later that Maya would be closed for the entire May); the other restaurant White lotus was closed too. Only one Italian restaurant and the pool bar were available. Also, very limited choice for vegetarian dishes. I had no choice but to explore the restaurants outside the hotel on my last day. 4) was annoyed to receive a 'note' asking me to settle the bill in the middle of my stay (the bill amount at that time did not even exceed 10,000 That Bhat! ). 5) I was surprised that the flowers at the reception was 70% dying upon check-out! Good things: pool and its service is excellent. spacious room indeed.

We obviously sincerely regret your disappointment and we have attentively noted your comments. Nonetheless, having wrote that, we wish to provide you additional information. We are running with 4 Sofitel luxury vans and when they are all eventually taken, we are sending our outsourced referenced company. While it is not advertised Sofitel on the van, they are providing exactly the same services which are amenities, cold towels and welcome at the airport with the Sofitel signage. Regarding the restaurants closed, we have indeed temporary and exceptionally hosted during your stay a large group. With the ambition to avoid any disturbs for the other guests, we have decided to centralize the group for every meal at Maya restaurant. The White Lotus was indeed closed too, nevertheless, Venezia restaurant serves both Indian, Thai and Italian dishes. Finally as per our internal procedure, beyond a certain amount defined according to your booking and length of stay, we kindly recommend to our guests to settle their bill or leave more deposit. In both case, we are only following our procedure without being disrespectful. Thank you very much again for having shared your feedback with us and rest assured that we also highly appreciate your comments on the pool and its service.
