Disappointing - this stay
The room was too warm. We tried to use the A/C to cool it down, only to find it did not work. When we asked the hotel to fix it, we were told it could not be fixed. They provided a loud portable fan for us to use. No offer to change rooms. Disappointing from such a large international hotel chain.

The desk staff were very helpful and were capable of communicating in limited English. The facilities are nice and clean. It is definitely a nice place to stay.

Excellent hotel with high-quality staff & services
The location of the hotel is excellent due to its close vicinity to the bus stations, metro stations, a modern plaza, and board walk. The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. They made extra effort to resolve the WiFi log-in problem I encountered with my iPad. And the room-keeping services were remarkable. The only areas for improvement, although none too serious, are: (1) the non-smoking room we reserved tends to reek of smoke from the vent in the bathroom (this problem could be mitigated by turning on the air-conditioning system); (2) the noise from the street traffic is audible even at the 16th floor although the level is tolerable.

The hotel is well located in the city center and 5 mins walk to the main sub-way hub. It's also very clean. However, I cannot believe that I've been told that the centralised AC system can only be turned on (cooling) after 5 or 6 pm. I cant even have some rest in the afternoon after my check-in because the room was warm and stuffy - 27 c degrees.

The staff were very accomodating and friendly. Anything we needed staff went above and beyond to assist us. The on-site restaurants were also very nice, particularly the Thai Restaurant, the food was exceptional.

My stay was fine. It was hard to find some things I was looking for, but then, I guess I could have asked more questions. I did a lot of walking which was good, but all the construction in the area made it a challenge at times.

Satisfactory hotel service
Service is satisfactory. The cons are the lack of coffee / tea / drinking water in the breakfast buffet bar (that needs to be served & ordered) & local people normally refer the hotel name as ‘‘Sakura Hotel’. ‘Holiday Inn’ is not popular to taxi drivers.

IHG took over this hotel in 2014, and the name changed as Holiday Inn Kunming City Centre. The local drivers are used to call the old name. Thank you for your support!

Wonderful stay at Holiday Inn
The staff was helpful and patient in giving me clear directions to places around the hotel - subway and shopping area was 500m away and places of interest - fei chui lake, dian reservior and western hills. The thai food at the hotel restuarant is authentic thai and taste yummy. I was pleasantly surprised to see a box of birthday cake for me. Thank you !

Friendly and efficient staff. Check in was brief and simple. When I ordered a noodle dish for room service, the staff asked me about my dietary preference to ensure that I would be okay with all ingredients in the dish, which was delivered to my room within the expected time frame. The room was clean and comfortable. It had everything I needed. The only minor thing to improve would be sound proofing around the window. I was able to hear the traffic outside and needed to use ear plugs to sleep well.

Friendly and helpful staff. I got there in the early morning, and they checked me in quickly. Then they promptly helped 3 other travelers I had met on the plane who needed assistance to find a place to stay, as many hotels were already sold out for the night. They made phone calls to nearby hotels and found suitable rooms for these travelers. I got a free upgrade of my room and ended up in a very spacious suite, with a large living area and a large bathroom that featured a beautiful, round bath. The room was beautiful, modern, clean, and quiet. The bed was very comfortable. Check out was swift and simple. Will stay there again whenever I am in Kuming.
