Cruise Ship Catch-up

Pros: Clean and modern with a great restraurant. We took advantage of the special having an excellent banquet.
Cons: Crown Plaza ANA should review its refund policy to recognise genuine booking errors in internet bookings.
Location: The hotel is in a good location being across the road from Fisherman's Wharf MOO, which is the terminus for the Airport Bus and provides places to eat
Due to airline and weather disruptions in Australia 8 couples missed the cruise ship in Yokohama. Therefore, we needed to book extra accommodation in Yokohama and Kushiro and flights into Kushiro. Although the larger cruise ships like the Diamond Princess berth at Kushiro Wharf No 4, a 15 minute and 1,970 yen taxi ride from Crown Plaza, some smaller cruise ships might berth in front of Crown. The Assistant Manager on the front counter was very helpful in ascertaining information about the ship and arranging taxis for all to the ship.

Switch to Smoking Room during Reservation process

Efforts by staff to clear up the smoke from a smoking room wrongly provided were ultimately successful but the damage was already done.

Comfortable rooms; great service

Hotel staff: extremely helpful! Although a staff who served me at 10:30pm spoke and understood little English, he tried to take care of my needs and tried to serve me to the best of his ability. Despite spending a lot of time to try to get my message across (patiently communicated for 45mins), I felt that he was very sincere in trying to help. Also, staff will happily assist in making bookings (I wanted to book a chartered taxi and they managed to get me a reasonable price). Hotel condition: a little old, but good value for money. Rooms: comfortably large for the most basic room type (Japan-specific). Request a room with a sea view. Convenience: not far from train station, but a car/taxi is still required Breakfast: had quite a variety. I especially loved the soba noodles and scrambled eggs/omelette! Tip to English-speakers: try to raise a query between 10am and 9pm for a smoother result

Expected more

We've stayed in a couple of Hokkaido hotels and found that the international chains here have left a lesser impression on us than the local chains. Not that it's bad but I think from a value perspective, we expected more. Crowne Plaza Kushiro was conveniently located for some of the nearby eats like Washo market and the Fisherman's Wharf MOO place. Our twin corner room provided sufficient space for our family of 4 (2 young kids) but housekeeping was mediocre and breakfast so-so. On-site parking was unavailable both nights due to events so we had to park at the next building. Front desk was pleasant. Might rate it better if it had an onsen.

Great hotel, poor service

Great hotel, good location, free parking Terrible service though, staff barely spoke or understood English, had to communicate in Japanese, they did not want to help in booking//confirming my flight ticket.. And only gave me my breakfast free coupons not at check in but after I insisted on the day of breakfast

A good hotel.

it was a relaxing stay as I used it for a break from all the trekking that was done. A bit of a walk from the train station but I think facilities wise it is good enough.

After bike breakdown, good spot to get mojo back

Great spot after a hectic previous when my harley had broken day and spent day fetting back on the road. Service was superb, room was truly no smoking. Had water view and with open windows, temp was just right. We ate at the fish BBQ write outside hotel on river. A hoot, you buy tickets, pick your seafood, veggies, spirits if desired snd sit at charcoal BBQ and cook it. Don't worry, staff will help. Met another harley rider here too.
