Convenient location,, reasonable,hotel.
Although the hotel is somewhat old, they do a reasonable job keeping everything clean. Extremely conveninent to everything in Opatija. The breakfast bufffet is excellent. The rooms are nothing special but given I was only staying for business it did the trick. The only real problem is that internet is only wired in the rooms. No WiFi.

what you see isn't what you get- it doesn't exist
we made our reservation to ' hotel opatija' according to the pictures shown at the expedia site. The pictures show a beautiful hotel. Yet, all the pictures have gone through a photoshop process!!!! In reality, attached to the beautiful hotel, there is an old hotel, with old facilities in the room and bad maintenance! The existence of the old hotel was removed from the pictures on the site!!!! As if it just doesn't exist! Pure fraud!

2 star hotel
This is a 2 star hotel, cheaper than others but overpriced for what you get. Parking is 15E a day. Service staff in restaurant is great but poor service at reception. We paid 50% for a 9 year old child but only got single beds for adults and we were told kid has to share a single bad with one of us without any willingness to negotiate a fold up bed or something. This hotel was amasing 50 years ago, great old building, but all it is now is overpriced 2 star hotel

They allow dogs in rooms so stains of (dont want to know) dogs on carpets and pet urine and wet hair smell - dogs belong in sheds or back of Utes, not in hotels. Also bark at night meaning broken sleep.

We got what we paid for. Hotel was in a great location. Easy 5 mins walk to the water and not much further to shops and restaurants. Breakfast in the morning was great - good food and the staff were very pleasant. A great way to start the day. Ate dinner one night in the hotel and it was ok, breakfast was much better. The front desk staff were very nice and helpful. Rooms are very basic and rather small. They also seemed a bit dingy and I wonder when they cleaned the carpets last?! Also no wifi in the rooms, only in the hotel lobby. Would definitely benefit from a fresh coat of paint, a good carpet cleaning and wifi. Indoor salt-water pool was a nice amenity but again, the pool area could use a good sprucing up. Overall, the hotel served our needs. Comfortable bed and good breakfast for a very reasonable price.

I really liked the hotel's architecture - the true reminescence of Croatia's communitst times :) The really bad experience were the insects in the room - COCKROACHES in the bathroom!!!!! I saw three and then I just had the lights on all the night long, but it made my stay very unpleasant. Otherwise everything was ok...

I found sanctuary here after a very arduous on foot crossing from Trieste. Brilliant. It was chosen for the best price on Expedia, but to be frank - it would be hard to find anywhere friendlier. Love it Si Homfray

You get what you pay for. The location is great and the stuff was helpful. I was little disappointed because I had to pay for parking. The furniture and the atmosphere of the hotel at least 20-30 years old. If you need to stop somewhere to sleep for 1-2 nights it is ok but for longer stay I would go somewhere else.

Disappointingly dated
A very dated hotel which you can see in the past would have been quite the place to stay. We had an attic room which we knew in advance but it was still not worth the money, particularly in August! The breakfast and terrace were the strong points, service was fine. Location is central to town and there is parking. A shame this hotel doesn't look as good on the inside as it does on the outside.

The hotel accommodations were very nice. It was a little run-down, but it gave it an old-world charm. The staff was moderately surly, but the guy who ran the breakfast buffet is a character. We would stay there again for the food alone!

You Get What you Pay For
Hotel Opatija immediately brings to mind a picture about Croatia's past. From the outside the building is an imposing and beautiful reminder of the Hapsburg Empire, a grand edifice in the middle of Opatija where the rich and noble of the empire came to play. Hotel Opatija could be truly spectacular with an infusion of cash. Unfortunately, the current interior is more a history lesson on Communist Yugoslavia than the Austrian-Hungarian Empire. Not that Hotel Opatija was a horrible choice. Not at all. The location in the center of town is hard to beat. So was the price, particularly in comparison with the other more modern hotels in town. The hotel was perfectly reasonable - the rooms were clean and reasonably comfortable, the included breakfast reasonably decent, and the service reasonably good. If you're looking for a hotel in which you will want to spend hours every day you should probably look elsewhere. On the other hand, if you're looking for a reasonably priced hotel to serve as your base of operations for exploring the town and region, Hotel Opatija is worth a look.

Only if you need cheap parking
We booked this hotel because we needed parking and the hotel has it for a very reasonable price. The hotel is in an excellent location, good service at the desk and in a breakfast room, room was adequate size, very good breakfast. But the hotel is in serious need of total renovation. The carpet is old and dirty, the furniture in the room was old and cracked, and the bathroom appliances are totally outdated.

Hotel Opatija - In the middle of it
For those who want to visit the tourist trap that is Opatija, this hotel offers the perfect location. It is set back from the beach far enough to drown out most of the commotion but close enough to walk anywhere. The rooms are nothing special but are fine unless you are seeking high-end amenities.

Le pire hôtel de ma vie !!!
Hôtel catastrophique, parking payant la nuit, première chambre avec des mouches mortes dans la baignoire, draps sales, moquette degeulasse, toiles d’araignées partout et pleins d’autres problèmes..... bref changement de chambre !!! Et la la même catastrophe sauf sans les mouches, petite consolation le balcon avec vue sur la mer !!! En gros ne surtout pas séjourner dans cet hôtel !!!

L'aspetto esteriore dell'albergo è accattivante, ma a guardar bene tutto quanto avrebbe bisogno di un po' di rinnovamento e restauro. L'interno della camera non corrisponde affatto a ciò che ci si aspetterebbe da fuori: appena abbiamo aperto la porta di camera, la maniglia ci è rimasta in mano; l'arredamento è più che spartano e sa di antiquato (non di antico); la mancanza di aria condizionata ci ha fatto sentire come in un forno crematorio… Consiglierei un radicale rimodernamento degli alloggi: solo così la bella facciata nasconderebbe un altrettanto bell'interno

Hotel muy viejo y sucio, con mal olor. Estábamos en la zona que no se había mejorado desde hace muchos años y además estaba muy sucio, telasdearaña, mosquitos en los plafones de las lamparas, moqueta ni hablamos. Muchas zonas mal iluminadas. Localización muy buena, desayuno dentro de la normalidad y nos llamo la atención que la piscina, gimnasio y baños de la planta inferior estuvieran muy bien. Nada que ver con el resto del hotel.

hotel Opatija vivamente sconsigliato
l'hotel "opatija" nel secolo scorso forse era un hotel di prim'ordine, ora è una struttura al catafascio, è tutto distrutto, trasandato e sopratutto sporco, il personale è maleducato, la colazione è una cosa mai vista, praticamente se non mangi uova o wurstel non c'è niente la camera definirla "tugurio" è un complimento, piccolissima, sporca, con moquette che non ha visto l'aspirapolvere da anni, senza aria condizionata, il bagno piccolissimo da non muoversi e sporco. E' stata una vacanza da incubo, quindi sconsiglio vivamente di prenotare in questa struttura.

J ai rarement donné un mauvais commentaire aux logement que je reserve mais là c est autre chose . Reservation d une chambre économique soite (à 74 euros au total) sans air conditionnée, avec un personnel dedaigneux qui n avait pas très envi de M accompagner(demande non par moi mais par le responsable à la réception ) pour me montrer ma chambre alors qu il aurait eté très difficile de la trouver car sous les toits (ancienne chambre de bonne ). Des,morceaux de verre présents sur la moquette de la chambre et la salle de bains. Un pommeau de douche fonctionnant très mal. Une télévision des années 70 qui grésille avec 5 chaînes tv. Difficile de trouver une place de parking pourtant facturée 6 euros pour chacune des moto alors que les 2 étaient sur un même stationnement. Tout ceci pour un établissement, soit disant de classe !! Nos amis dans l autre chambre en rez de chaussez avait une climatisation ne fonctionnant pas, un pommeau de douche idem ... Heureusement que d autres établissements proposant des chambres abordables sont d une bonne qualité Nous déconseillons fortement. Très mauvais établissement malgré qu'il soit bien placé.

A személyzettől messze áll az udvariasság és segítőkészség ( recepció). A meghirdetett 2 csillagnak megfelelő, a számlázásnál 3-at tüntetnek fel.14 óra helyett csak 15 óra magasságában lett szobánk. ( másoknak is ). A szobában furcsa szagok voltak, nem tudtuk beazonosítani. Meleg víz csak másnap lett. A napi takarítás mellett sem tudták a fürdőt kitakarítani,ami már a szoba elfoglalásakor is hiányos volt.Használtuk a parkoló kártyát és a végén még 30 EURÓ-t kellett fizetni. A éttermi szolgáltatás nagyon egysíkú,minden nap ugyan az,nincs zöldség.

Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und das Hotel macht äußerlich einen recht gepflegten Eindruck. Der Schock kam jedoch prompt beim betreten des "Neubaus" auf der rechten Seite. Es roch bereits beim betreten des Flures ziemlich muffig, das gebuchte Superior Doppelzimmer mit Balkon und Meerblick war alt, verwohnt, mit Rissen und Wasserflecken an der Wand, das Bad klein, dunkel und überall voll mit schwarzen Schimmelflecken. Das Bett war ordentlich, die Matratzen sauber und der der Meerblick im zweiten Stock zwar dürftig, aber vorhandenen. Das Frühstücksbuffet ist reichhaltig und wird regelmäßig aufgefüllt, hier ist für jeden etwas dabei. Fazit: Zum schlafen reicht's aber den Aufschlag beim Preis für Balkon und Meerblick kann man sich sparen.
