the room felt new and convienient

i was welcomed by great staff members who made me feel at home. we spent exactly two minutes for check-in including questions and answers. The breakfast and dinner was just amazing. the first night i had burger which was just out of this world. The aircon was the only issue as it only has cold temperature

Nice, clean hotel with friendly staff

I was on vacation in Durban with my mom. I booked a room with two beds but when I arrived they only had rooms with one queen bed. I was a little disappointed about this but the next day after breakfast we went back to our room only to find our room cleaned and our bed changed. I was very impressed with how quickly they worked to fulfill my request. Breakfast was included in my booking. It was supposed to be a buffet according to the booking but apparently if the hotel isn't filled to a certain capacity they don't do the buffet. This ended up being ok because they had some good items on the menu and a cold meats, fruit, cereal bar. I was very happy with the food. The staff were amazingly friendly, from the receptionists to the servers and bar tenders. We enjoyed to free shuttle to the nearby beach and Gateway mall. There aren't any restaurants in walking distance to the hotel but the mall has plenty of eating options. It's currently the biggest mall in the Southern Hemisphere. The rooms were kind of small, but extremely clean. Bathroom and rainforest shower was good although the there was a funny smell from afar from time to time. Furniture, bedding and decor were relatively modern. The lobby area and restaurant were very well decorated. It really did give it a modern, boutique feel. I would recommend this hotel if traveling without children.

4* no. The staff are very poorly trained. Lift didn't work. Room not ready. No towels. Staff are all doing their own thing. No one knew what was going on. Never again. Hotel run down.

Sleek hotel

We stayed one Sunday night in Umhlanga before returning to the US. Very pleasant, stylish hotel a few miles from the beach with a roof pool with a stunning view of Durban and the bay. Convenient underground garage. Very friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are quite large and well outfitted. The location in or adjoining a mall in a business district is well-maintained. The mall has at least two restaurants -- one was closed on Sunday but the other was pretty good. A minor inconvenience was some construction or remodeling during our stay that put the elevator out of service. But really you can't go wrong choosing this hotel.
