Clean, practical hotel in the center of Kyoto

Posted Jun 6, 2017
Pros: location. Very practical hotel, has Japanese flair: respectful staff and local breakfast. Small bedrooms are well appointed: from bathrooms to tea set
Cons: Having no control on climatisation. Air conditioning was too cold for our taste
Location: Markets and restaurants galore nearby. The temples and shrines that are a must can be accessed by train or taxi. Temple area
Welcoming helpful staff. Great location in the center of Kyoto, though calm and not noisy at night. kitty corner from the market. The food market Nishiki a few blocks away.

Spacious hotel in one of Kyoto's best areas!

Posted Apr 28, 2017
Pros: Room size, location, proximity to public transportation, friendly staff
Cons: Heating/air conditioning so that you can adjust the temperature in the room.
Location: Many restaurants, shops, stores, etc. Very close to public transportation. Located on a pedestrian only street.
My partner and I visited Kyoto during one of the busiest times of the year, sakura season. The hotel seemed to be well staffed to handle the large influx of travelers. We had sent our luggage from our previous hotel in Tokyo by takkyubin and when we arrived to the hotel our bags were already waiting for us in our room. Our room was big by Japanese standards - closer to the size of a room in North America. It seems that the hotel had undergone some renovations recently. It wasn't anything fancy but it was clean and comfortable. The windows in the room were covered with a wood/paper finish which was nice as it added to the Japanese aura. Some travelers had complained that they couldn't look outside because of this; however the windows were built so you could move the "Japanese" finish and actually see outside. The only real complaint we had about this hotel was that they centrally control the heating/air conditioning meaning you can't adjust the temperature in your own room. You only have the option to turn on or off the system. The location of this hotel was amazing. It was a 1 minute walk off Kyoto's busiest street in what was seemingly a pedestrian only area. There was a covered yet semi-outdoor shopping area right next to the hotel with many stores and restaurants. There was also wonderful bakery across the street from the hotel which is great for breakfast. Accessing the bus system was very from this hotel - about a 5 min walk. We would definitely stay here again!

Best location! Friendly staff. They also have rental umbrella which is free to rent. Just to make sure to bring it back to facility. It was so easy to get to hotel by bus.
