Great staff and service, location is very good and there is a shuttle bus to/from hotel to Kyoto Station. Interior decor has a bit vintage style. Medium size step up to the bathroom in our room was strange - could be a trip hazard or accessibility issue.

It was an absolute pleasure staying at Hotel Okura Kyoto. I was in Kyoto for one day. The concierge was fantastic at providing details on the best sites to see and how to get to them. I will definitely be staying here again!

This was our favorite hotel during our 10 day trip thru Japan. First of all, the hotel allow you to adjust the temperature in your room below 20C, which was not the case in the other hotels we stayed at. You had to stay in suites or complain to the front desk, but I found it very annoying. It was not a problem here. Anyhow, the rooms were large, clean and beautiful. The staff was polite and very helpful and food in the restaurant was good. The hotel was located in a good spot to get to the trains and other sights by foot. Very nice hotel, well priced for what you got and I would stay here if I visited Kyoto again.

The staff service and overall cleanliness of the hotel was good. About the only drawback was the guest room we were assigned was very small. Another positive and surprising feature about the property was the Japanese Kaiseki restaurant Iribune, which we found to be much better than we had anticipated!

Wonderful hotel - great location - great breakfast
The Hotel Okura was wonderful. A great location - they have a shuttle to the JR station. The staff was friendly and helpful. They have a wonderful breakfast buffet on the top floor where you get a view of all of Kyoto. The rooms were comfortable and clean. Great restaurants in the hotel. Five stars. An excellent hotel for your stay in Kyoto.

Old property living off its good name. This is a stuffy and tired hotel. The location is great but it is full of very very expensive restaurants and even charges 3300yen per person per visit to use the pool. Rooms need a overhaul. Bathrooms still have shower cutains! Overall a nice stay but you probably wont use any of the hotel services unless you are on a company expense account as a result.

Fantastic hotel, amazing service. Right over a subway stop on the Tozai line, and walkable from Teramachi shopping arcade and Nishiki Market. Subway line is easy transport right into Higashiyama and over to Nijo-jo on the other side. Staff was great, room was enormous and beautiful. Can't recommend enough.

The Japanese steakhouse food was not good. The food at Chinese restaurant was very good, but, the communication was very challenging in English and service not great. The Chip and Dale bar was FANTASTIC.

A worthwhile option if you want a decent, fairly priced hotel. Situated over a subway station and a modest shopping complex it is convenient for transport, groceries and food. Great soba and tempura place downstairs. Nishiki Market is a 5-10 minute walk, as is the Gion old precinct. Staff are friendly and very efficient. It may not be the newest in town (in fact it is probably the oldest "Western" style hotel in town as the original one dates to 1888) but it is full of character and has everything you need. Can recommend and would gladly stay again.

Really nicely presented and clean hotel, room was of a good size, staff were very polite. Good range of restaurants but there was a c.£18 charge to use the pool and gym which is excessive.

The staff are really nice, helpful and speak competent English. The rooms are very spacious and shower pressure is excellent. Amenities are top notch quality especially the slippers. Planning to return someday.

By far, Hotel Okura Kyoto was the most spacious hotel we stayed in while in Japan. The facilities are attractive, the rooms well appointed, the location convenient, and the staff friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again in the future.
