It is a very lovely, quiet deluxe hotel set back from the street. The service was impeccable, with free shuttles at call to and from the hotel. Remember to book in advance if you are arriving from the train station as this will save you the taxi fare! The rooms are large and the public bath is a treat. Breakfast is lovely - the restaurant faces the gorgeous court yard.

Great family friendly destination in Karuizawa
The hotel staff were friendly and took care of our family. They brought extra blankets, towels, and other supplies quickly. We enjoyed every minute of our stay.

Absolutely top notch! Room are spacious, clean and well upkept. Within walking distance to many nice small restos. Staff are friendly and can converse well in English. Def my choice of stay if we are to go back again, even with my kid. Food at French resto was excellent. It would be great if they could have more choice on their room service menu

Idyllic Town
The service at the hotel is impeccable, from the GM to the front office staff. While there were some hiccups, as with all things, more important, they were very proactive in finding solutions and making sure that the guests are not inconvenienced.

Excellent service from check-in, dining, check-out to pick-up between the hotel and train station. The room is spacious and very clean. Choices in breakfast buffet are limited but in good quality. Overall it was a pleasant stay.

Short Winter getaway
Lovely hotel with newly renovated rooms and public areas. Very friendly and helpful staff, most speak English. Great welcome on arrival with little snack and drink! The complementary shuttle service was awesome, if it was the pick up from the Shinkansen, the drop off to go skiing or the ride to a restaurant for dinner, there’s always a car available to take you around! Wish we would have stayed longer than just two nights! We will be back if time allows!

There’s no connected room for family stay, but the hotel has arranged the room nearby. That’s good for us. Overall the stay was good, but one of the room the heater was not working that made us not very satisfied.

Great hotel and experience, though there were a couple of things that disappointed. One was they apparently forgot to tell the driver to pick us up at the station, leaving us standing in the cold for a while. The other is when I ordered a coffee and they forgot to make it and I had to order it a second time

Serene surroundings, superb service, luxury stay
Location was excellent. Close to old town and Karuizawa Station. Short walk to Kumoba pond. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Hotel refurbished well and rooms were large, well kept. The restaurant served French fusion which was lovely only if you enjoy that sort of cuisine. Honestly there are so many local eateries a stone’s throw away that shouldn’t be missed.

Modern Boutique Hotel
We had a great stay at Kyu Karuizawa Hotel. The decor at the lobby area is very modern and inviting. We were greeted with champagne and Japanese finger food. The staff were very thoughtful and helpful. We stayed at the standard room but it was very spacious, with windows covered by greens. So peaceful. We wish we could stay longer.

朝食時のスタッフの対応が残念。昨年に泊まって快適だったので今年も利用しましたが・・。
朝食の際、人数分のカトラリーが足りなかったので、近くにいた女性スタッフ（Aさん）に申し入れたら、反応が悪く、『あれ？』という感じがしました。 普通、人数分のカトラリーが無ければ『失礼しまました、お待ちしますね』とか『フォークだけで宜しいですか？』といった返答があるものと思うのですが、Aさんは無表情のまま『何本ですか？』とだけ答え、不足分を取りに行ってしまいました。 その後も、最初にオーダーを聞かれた飲み物が、いつまで経っても（食事が終わりそうなくらいまで）来ないので（私達よりも後に頼んだ方には飲み物が既に提供されていました）、忘れてしまっているのかな？と思い、飲み物がまだ来ない旨をAさんに伝えると、また無表情のまま『はぁ、確認します』どだけ言い、バックヤードへ行ってしまいました。悪い人では無いのでしょうか、接客に向かない人っていますよね？そんな感じの方です。 隣のテーブルの方にもそんな感じの対応だったので、その方達も『あれ？』っといった表情でした。 2泊3日の滞在でしたので、翌日もAさんだったら嫌だなと家族で話しながら翌日も朝食へ向かうとAさんはいませんした。他のお客さんからクレームが入ったからなのか、ホテルの方が気がついて対処したのかわかりませんが、翌日は心地よく朝食を取ることができました。 別にお客様は神様扱いして欲しいなどとは思いませんが、最低限の接客対応はして頂きたいですね。ヒルトンクラスのホテルでこのような対応があったことに残念でした。 今後の改善に期待しています。
