Beautiful location
A beautiful hotel in a beautiful location but a little understaffed during our stay, especially on the Friday night. Check in and reception were excellent. Some of the outside areas including balconies needed a good clean but by and large we enjoyed a lovely stay!

First of all, the view from the hotel was spectacular and the atmosphere was enjoyable. However, I did not feel like a 4 star hotel when is came to servicing our room. We had to ask several times for body wash and shampoo replacement as the one in the room was empty when we arrived and the phone never worked which made us walk all the way to the front desk which was inconvenient. The shower button wasn’t working correctly but they finally sent someone to fix it. Did not receive our bottle of champagne on the second day as promised by the front desk. At that we gave up and was just counting the hours until our departure. For the price, it wasn’t worth it. Again, the hotel and location is beautiful but It’s too bad our experience wasn’t.

Très bon séjour dans ce bel hôtel . Dommage qu’il n’y a que peu de transat pour les piscines qui se remplissent très vite . L’endroit est magnifique et le staff très sympathique

Very pretty hotel in a lovely location. All the staff were really friendly and most were helpful. Music choices in the communal areas in the evening were a little odd. We were told upon arrival that breakfast was 0830-1030am so we enquired into whether we could get a small breakfast made to go for the following day given we had to leave early. We were told this wasn't possible. Later on we asked a different member of staff to double check as this seemed odd considering most hotels offer this service. The other member of staff said that this was actually possible and that breakfast started at 0800. Additionally, we found that our room wasn't clean when we arrived. There were empty containers in cupboards from previous guests and there was lots of hair in the bathroom where the previous guests had obviously shaved. Again we were disappointed given the standard we were expecting from the hotel.

Great hotel in a great area. We stayed in a Castle room which was really nice but the bathroom was looking like it needed a refresh and the air conditioning couldn’t keep the room very cool. Wonderful breakfast and dining options are excellent. The food at “Drac” is superb. Pool area needed younger staff to clean up used towels and drink glasses up a lot faster but it’s a wonderful pool and lounge area. Would definitely stay again and recommend. The small things are easily rectified. General manager Silvia seems wonderful had a genuine interest in how they could improve. Diani on the restaurants is fantastic!

This Castle was a gorgeous place to stay. We attended a wedding here, and the views were amazing from the Garden Room. We had a nice balcony on which we could enjoy snacks or coffee, the bathroom was large and clean, and the restaurants and amenities were very nice.

Castell D'emporda has been one of the most beautiful hotels we've visited in Catalonia! It's surrounded by tons of pintoresc medieval towns and beautiful landscapes. The restaurant and all amenities are all great. I only regret not having stayed here for longer!

This hotel was an ideal destination for what we wanted relaxation and tranquillity in the 3 days we stayed here . The pool areas are beautiful and the views are amazing . We travelled quite easily by bus from girona to Las bispal d'emporda and managed the walk uphill to the hotel, we checked in a little earlier and were warmly welcomed. The garden suite was luxurious and clean. My husband is a coeliac and was catered for without it being a problem. The area around the hotel is also so beautiful but eating out was limited without a car. Would definitely return for another visit

Fabulous restaurant!
We thought the hotel and service was excellent (though we had to carry bags up 2 flights), the evening meal was Michelin Star quality, but there was no bar area to have a drink (in autumn). Maybe outside in the summer has a bar.

Delightful menu, attentive staff , what you would expect from a top UK country boutique hotel. Only drawback but for the time of year it wasn't an issue (late October) the rooms don't have air con. The swimming pools are great, beautiful surroundings. Ideal for a weekend break.

It’s a very unique hotel........my room was in the old belfry tower! Lots of charm and a very relaxed atmosphere. The surrounding of farmers fields add to this on a morning. Very historical and you will be hard pressed to find somewhere as appealing.

Very poor customer communication/appreciation
Special dinner/overnight stay became a disaster when we were informed - on arrival, there was no resteraunt available. A BBQ would be provided. Room rep was 29 degrees. Thermostat broken? No maintenance staff on. New room 29 degrees, but eventually cooled. Safe was broken! BBQ was a disgrace. Little or no choice from a scimpy buffet, that they eventually charged us €100. We will not be back. Staff were great.

Cool hotel in an old castle
A nice, cool hotel set in the countryside just outside La Bisbal d'Emporda. The hotel is in a small castle that looks over the town and surrounding countryside, and has a fantastic restaurant, cafe, two pools and a large courtyard with a small bar. If you like something a little different reserve one of the tower rooms; you'll have to climb some narrow stairs to get there but the view from the room is worth it.

Beautiful and comfortable hotel with great restaur
This hotel is really beautiful. We stayed in one of the regular rooms (not in the castle proper) and every room has a balcony overlooking gorgeous farmland. The room was clean and luxurious with a sitting area. The onsite restaurant Drac was one of the best meals we had on our vacation in Spain. There are two pools, both overlooking the valley on manicured gardens.

Fit for a king/queen!
I made the rare choice to upgrade from a standard room to a castle room. In hindsight it was WELL worth the expense for the experience! If you ever want to feel like a king/queen for a night, make the trip to Castell d’Emporda! Great service, fine restaurant, absolutely fantastic views of the gorgeous countryside. A real treat.

Gem of a place
The hotel is a gem! It has been done perfectly and we hope it always remains a privately owned unique and perfect place! Truly beautiful surroundings too. The castle rooms are very romantic and perfectly decorated, clean and comfortable. The food both in the main restaurant and in the pool restaurant was so fresh and just absolutely delicious. Unfortunately the service can be a bit slow sometimes but not too bad. Will definitely be back.

A Wonderful Place To Be
I reverently got married here and it could not have been any more perfect. The hotel staff, especially Jacky was so helpful in planning a wedding from over seas. The hotel itself is beautiful and fun to explore. The rooms are spotless and modern (dali rooms). This is a hotel where you will be left alone. If you prefer to be waited on and pampered this may not be the place for you. While I loved the hotel and my time there I also agree with the other reviewers about it not being completely polished yet. Overall I would recommend this hotel and I would also happily stay here again.

Could be much better
Beautiful place but lacks class. I would put it as a borderline 4* hotel. It is really a pity because it has the potential to be a 5 stat hotel. They need to ramp up their services (bellboy, main restaurant, bar, maybe add a spa, pool area, pool service). Also, the town it is located is not the best one in Spain. No traditional old Spanish buildings and in general it looks very poor.

Hotel Castell d'Emporda
A lovely property. The design and decor is well thought out. The new rooms have been added sympathetically to blend in with the old site. We stayed in a Dali room which was fine. It was a typical modest, modern hotel room with a nod to Dali in the decoration. The view across the countryside was good. The Drac dining room is very nice and the food was excellent. The chef adapted the menu beautifully at short notice to meet dietary requirements. The exterior areas for dining and drinks are extensive but the weather prevented us from using them. Should be great in the warmer seasons. Easy access to the Dali Castle at Pubol and about 45 minutes drive to the Dali Museum at Figures. Both worth visiting. There is construction ongoing to extend the hotel at one end so it doesn't affect the guests, but there could be some noise.

It's great but has problems
Hotel looks amazing. Checked in but had to change room as it stank of staleness or mould. We were in a castle room. There was no issue with staff when we mentioned this and next room was much nicer and brighter and no smell. The double bed was two singles pushed together which is not so comfortable and really annoying. It was really quiet when we were there which was nice but you really have to drive to get anywhere decent. La Bisbal has little to offer but Pertallada is lovely. Some of the other towns around are also worth a visit. Beach is close enough in Callela or around Begur. All in all it is a great hotel, we might have been a little unlucky. Restaurant food is pretty amazing, the views are great from terrace and the pool is really nice.
