Basic, but OK.

Posted Oct 22, 2017 on Hotels
Very basic. Reminded me of a student digs. Shower was a hand held shower head over a bath. But reasonably clean and actually quite spacious. Bed was comfortable, and having a balcony was a bonus. Reception closed for most of the day - which could be problematic for some.

Poor maintenance detracts from a great space.

A great balcony with views of the ocean and a place to sit and relax. Roomy space and set up to enable us to cook meals. Location excellent close to bus into Cannes, beach, restaurants, cafes and fresh food. Had no issues with the pin access to the hotel although as it is "off season" the reception desk is only staffed for 2 hours in late afternoon. The beds had loose slats which creaked each time one of us moved, and we were concerned one of us might collapse into the middle if one of them broke. The door from bedroom to balcony would not shut. IT was fixed on day 2. Other problems included lack of toilet paper, light bulbs needing replacement, a coffee table that was near its end...falling apart! Screwed together but screw heads sticking out. We were required to wash up and clean up, no dish washing liquid and one tea towel. The floors were dirty on our arrival and had cracked tiles. The dining table had two missing plastic suction cups, so we dare not use that in case the glass table top came off and broke.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We take our customers' comments very seriously, which allow us to improve our service and our services. We are sorry you did not enjoy your stay. Our residence has the advantage of being located in the city center, and we work every year with the owners on the refurnishment of some appartments. Every little lack of furniture should have been noticed quickly to reception so that we could improve your satisfaction during your stay. For any appartment rental, the cleaning is done on arrival and the first providings too giving the time to the guests to organise themselves and buy them on their own. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you again soon. Yours faithfully,

Villa Maupassant

Great location. Friendly staff. Across the road to the beach. Lovely pool and great local facilities not to mention a stones throw from downtown Cannes. Let down by the condition of the building, but this did not dampen the stay.

I really liked that the hotel is walkable to the beach. Lots of restaurants in the area as well. I liked the apartment style set up on the room as well.

Cannes/la Boca 2017

No frills apartment for travelers on a budget. While the price was fairly low I wouldn't go back and rather book a more expensive hotel with better amenities

Avoid this hotel...

Check in is late. Reception staff limited and unhelpful. Rooms and very dated. Imagine, decor from 80s. Only nice thing is the outside pool. It's not easy to find. But location is central.

Disgusting. STAY AWAY! The room was dirty, toilet was broken, TV and WIFI weren't working. There was no couch- only a twin bed. Only appropriate for stag parties- not for business or families. We ended up booking something else and moving the first night. ALSO- additional reservation for a parking spot.

Second year here

Posted Sep 18, 2015
Pros: Price, location
Cons: Beds
Location: Good restaurants and bakery close by. 2 minute walk to the beach. Cannes is walkable and buses are frequent and easy.
I think the staff were present less this year. It is handily placed for the beach and the local shops which include a great boulangerie. I have to say that the beds are no more comfortable than before but you get what you pay for. If you are on a budget and want a cheap base from which to go to the beach, visit Cannes (5 minutes on the bus) or other great places like Monaco or St Paul de Vence then this is absolutely fine. Some good local eateries nearby too.

LATE summer break

Posted Sep 13, 2015
Pros: quiet , no drama or children
Cons: neds updated and open reception
the hotels location is about 2.5 miles west of cannes itself in cannes boca, a 10 minute walk from that station or a better choice is the 5 min taxi from cannes central station . great location from the hustle and bustle . 1/2 walk along the seafront which is 100 yard walk. dont expect the beutiful people more the locals . The hotel has a limitied opening hours reception so beware if late check in , its no problem they are set up for it , but its diy and surprising . just call the hotel to confirm and arrange . The rooms / suites are comfortable and basic , plenty of room , closet space and equipment , they are however very tired , so dont expect the hilton .

Pick something else..

Old, not clean, small and pricey. Checkin at 5 pm, check out at 11 pm. If staying longer than 7 days you need to clean yourself. Does not recommend.
