Nice old colonial hotel well situated.

Posted Mar 6, 2016
Pros: Service and location.
Cons: Veggie options.
Location: Within the historic old town, close to everything.
Very friendly hotel with excellent location in the historic old town. Room was spacious and clean with a nice view. The restaurant has very good service but limited options for vegetarians. Overall it was a pleasant experience.

Fun place

A delightful place but room 107 was very stuffy, no ac, and windows don't open. Location is perfect. Staff is wonderful.

Great Location!

Posted Feb 14, 2016
Pros: Friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful old building with charming decor. High security on street, felt very safe, great breakfast served in courtyard
Cons: Very small gym/pool-closed on Monday for maintenance. Lighting in room poor. Bedspread not clean. Bath fixtures old, peeling paint on bathroom ceiling
Location: Central to all attractions in old city: restaurants, graffiti, museums, churches, shopping, Monserrate
Perfect location to tour the old city and see important museums and churches and access to Monserrate. Great restaurants and shopping nearby. Excellent security. Beautiful hotel with lovely staff. Room could have been nicer. Overall perfect pick!

Friendly hotel with character

Posted Aug 16, 2015 on Hotels
Hotel is in a good location five minutes from the central Bolivar Square although the surrounding streets are a little gloomy at night. Hotel is attractive and relaxing and the Spa is a real bonus. The staff at reception spoke good English & were friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable & clean and the bed excellent. Only slight disappointment was the restaurant which seemed a bit chaotic at breakfast time. The breakfast buffet was fine but staff seem to forget to fill things that are empty. We tried the food in the main restaurant once but were very disappointed. Food was very average and the service was slow. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would certainly stay there again.

Pleasant enclave within La Candelaria

Posted Jul 26, 2015 on Hotels
The hotel is a nice, clean enclave in the midst of La Candelaria. The included buffet breakfast is inside the large central courtyard. The rooftop restaurant has nice views, but interestingly was not open for dinner. Wifi is free and in all rooms. There is a nice small pool and hot tub, but the "workout area" is very tiny if that is important to you. We would stay there again if we were to return to La Candelaria, but note that the doors do not offer much sound-proofing from the noise that rises from the courtyard below.

Candelaria district

Posted Jul 4, 2015 on Hotels
I was happy with the choice of this hotel. We had a short time in Bogota and the location allowed us to walk around the Old Town area with ease. It is safe during the day with lots of armed, very polite and friendly police officers. (They will happily talk and give directions). At night the area is not safe to walk. We did take taxis to both nearby and far restaurants and were instructed to have the restaurants call a taxi for us. Those simple precautions made it safe. The room was huge and the bathroom very pleasant. We were in the older wing. I would stay here again.

Beautiful hotel - but take some earplugs

Posted May 28, 2015 on Hotels
Stayed here 3 nights on way home to UK from Cartagena. Beautiful hotel, lovely spa, fantastic value and ideally located for visiting the many museums & cultural spots of Bogota. Be aware that the Spanish style of the hotel makes it VERY noisy. You only need 2 or 3 people chatting in one of the central courtyards and it sounds like they're in the room with you. We had a top floor room which also had the disadvantage of a tiled floored restaurant directly above. The first morning it sounded like there was a tap dancing lesson going on up there. So, not a good choice if you're looking for peace & quiet - but then neither is Bogota!

5 nights in Bogota

Posted Apr 25, 2015 on Hotels
My friend and I stayed here for 5 nights. It is in an excellent position a few minutes from Plaza Bolivar..We stayed in one of the old rooms overlooking the street...the bathroom was a bit small but that went with the older rooms I imagine...it wasn't particularly noisy however. We ate once in the hotel, it was fine and had a nice Pisco Sour in the bar.The hotel staff are exceptionally helpful and friendly..At the weekend evenings the streets are rather empty much less so in the week.It is handy for all the main sites. It is a very safe area..quite near the Presidential Palace so strong police/army presence...Several restaurants within 15 minute walk..but you need to find them...We would happily go back.
