Great stay.

Wonderful little hotel just outside of the tourist area in la fortuna. If you want to be in town it's not for you but if you don't mind a $5ish taxi into town it's great. Loved the country atmosphere and the staff were excellent. Breakfast served every morning on the porch with lovey music made my day. Bed was a little hard but seemed to be a theme in every place we stayed in CR. I think hard beds must be the norm. Overall would stay there again.

Bad cancellation policy

Posted Feb 21, 2017 on Orbitz
Cons: Nicer more understanding ownership, especially during high season when renting the room again is so easy.
Location: Volcano, hot springs and waterfall all worth seeing. Booking from San Jose hotels offers better rates for transportation and entry into nice resort.
Beware: There's another "El Jardin Hotel" in the Monte Verde area (a beautiful place with very nice owners). My rental car agency, "Economy" punched the wrong hotel in our GPS so we didn't make it to La Fortuna and wound up at the same name hotel in the Monte Verde area. I gave the Arenal Jardin Hotel 24 hour notice of what happened and they were unsympathetic. Not even a partial refund. They rebooked the room.

This hotel is a little far from town. If you don't mind getting a taxi each time you go and leave town, it's fine. The bed was not very comfortable. The air conditioning made a clicking noise the entire time it was on. It was very pretty and breakfast was very nice. Other than location the other issues are fixable.

Close to shopping

Posted Feb 18, 2016
Room was clean, no-frills. No glasses or ice. Breakfast was tasty. From our room, there was highway noise. From the beach where we live, dry and hot, to the mountains where it rained every day and was much cooler, it was a nice break.

Motel on the main road but far away from anything

Posted Feb 14, 2016
This is a really basic motel. You get a bed, bathroom, safe, TV and that's about it. The only plug socket we had was in the bathroom above the sink! We were in room 2, which is by the main road. The walls are really thin, so if your unlucky and get rooms 1, 2 or 3 you will be woken up to the sound of heavy goods vehicles at around 5.30am (even with earplugs). We asked If there were any other rooms available and the answer was 'no'. As in, that was the single word response we got. We had a look online though and rooms were available. When we asked about things to do in the area, all we could get was 'I don't know, but these tours we offer are really good...'. The other thing about this motel is that it's really far from anything, so you really need a car to stay here. The town will cost about $5 in taxi, and the national park is $25! Both one way!

Sad commentary, bothers to see there are people so grateful.

Hotel review

Hotel was nice. Albeit the mattress bedding was a bit hard. There was also a few bugs every now and then. Location, very noisy from all the traffic going down in the road. It made it a bit difficult to sleep sometimes. Hotel was close to downtown La Fortuna with taxi about 2500 colones. Nice scenery outside with good view of the volcano. Customer service was excellent. Tasty breakfast provided every morning. They would also help you on booking tours during your stay. Good place to stay overall if you don't mind those tiny details.

Great stay away from town. Not a luxury place, but great for our family. Service is wonderful and breakfast was delicious. Very relaxing.
