we stayed four nights at Royal Villas. The building was old and there were cockroaches in our room. It seems the hotel called pest control because we noticed a pesticide smell afterwards and did not see any more cockroaches. There were small souvenir shops and restaurants close by. The best part was the beach, which I thought was amazing! The ocean water was super warm. There were vendors on the beach, but they were friendly and not pushy at all. There was also a band playing on the beach. The staff was friendly, especially Edgar at the bar. Edgar was very attentive, friendly, and professional. He seemed to be the only one running around making sure everyone was taken care of. I had the all-inclusive plan, and the rest of my group did not. So the bar manager was always spying on us to ensure we did not share our snacks or drinks which I thought it was kinda of petty. Like, how much is the hotel going to lose if I share my nachos with the kids. So I would order my inclusive nachos and pay for an additonal nachos just to get her off our back. On our last night, we rode a "pulmonia" to the Malecon. Pulmonia is what they call a car that looks like a golf cart. They are more expensive than a taxi or uber, but they are fun to ride on because they have disco-like lights and loud music :). I only wish we had more time to explore the Malecon area and the lighthouse. Maybe next time. Overall, we had a great time and would stay at Royal Villas again if we have to :)

Staff was Not attentive-especially at Kelly’s bar. Everything was closed by 10pm-

First thing they do they restrict you from using their amenities you’re allowed to order only one item on that specialty dining restaurants. The service was terrible in general. I would never recommend this hotel at all.

We had mold in our bathroom and no hot water. We reported and they did change our room.

Only comment is that it was hard to get PDF copy of my receipt with all my charges for the stay. The the place is A+ property.
