Nice, clean, small hotel close to good restaurants

Posted Nov 30, 2017
The hotel was clean and the staff was very helpful. The hotel is a bit dated but nice enough for a short stay. The rooms are small but have every thing you need. Hotel is close to great places to eat and an easy walk to the center of the and the tourist My room was a bit noisy because it face the street but not too bad.

Centered hotel

Posted Oct 22, 2017 on Wotif
Pros: lobby and friendly staff
Cons: bigger bathrooms and more room
Location: close and handy to the main locations
Family gathered led me to pick this reasonable priced hotel. Rooms are small and bathrooms to the minimum. I suppose it was benchmarked for the price we paid

Dear Gerald, many thanks for your comment, it was a pleasure to have you in our hotel. We are pleased to see that you enjoyed the atmosphere of the hotel and the location also. Concerning the rooms, we have 40 rooms ; all differents. The hotel is a is a building that dates from before the war which explains these different spaces between the rooms. The next, do not hesitate to ask for a superior room. See you soon at the Simplon Hotel!

Very convenient location, comfortable.

Pros: Best feature - location. Also relatively modest in size, not overwhelming. Homely feel.
Cons: Only the impossible - larger rooms!
Location: As above.
Staff friendly and efficient. Room freshly painted. Small but adequate and clean; bed took up much of the room. Bathroom also very small but with basic facilities all in good order. Very conveniently located, within walking distance to main sites but also close to all forms of public transport - a very significant positive feature. Free wifi.

Nice and affordable place

Posted Oct 1, 2017
Pros: Minimalist and clean room. Friendly staff.
Cons: Even breakfast was good, I would recommend changing the selection daily/ I had the same breakfast for 7 days.
Location: You are right in the center of everything
I went to Lyon for a 1-week business trip. I was always out and about, either working or exploring the city, so I didn't need a fancy place to stay. This hotel is 3 minutes walking distance from Place Carnot and Perrache station from where you can go to pretty much anywhere in Europe. From the hotel I walked to Old Lyon, Place Bellecour, Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière, and many other attractions. There is a bike rental place right on Place Carnot if you want to explore further, but i Chose walking for pictures and not worrying about people and cars. The hotel did the job. I chose to buy breakfast every morning, but they served the same selection every day. The room was small, one queen size bed, a little desk in the corner and a chair. The bathroom was ok but cleaned every day with a fresh towel. The rest of the hotel is very charming and the decoration gives it a special touch. Remember, this is not a chain hotel, so do not expect spanking new facilities. Everything is old but well taken care. The staff was excellent, friendly and helpful. I definitely recommend this hotel if you are on a budget or don't want to pay for useless features.

A small, but comfortable single-bed room. The shower and toilet cubicle was a liitle sub-standard.

Good location, small hotel

Posted Aug 5, 2017
I stayed here during a conference at the university nearby. I enjoyed the breakfast. The AC was a must at that time of the year. I liked walking the streets nearby, with shops mostly for locals. Touristic attractions and great restaurants easy to access by short walks.

Excellent location, near the Perrache station

Posted Jul 1, 2017
Pros: It's a budget hotel but didn't feel like one, the staff were genuinely concerned to make sure we enjoyed our stay
Location: Everything you need for a varied and interesting stay is nearby and if you want to go further you can get the metro, trams and buses from Perrache
Couldn't fault this budget hotel, and the location is brilliant, right next to the Perrache station so don't get off at Part-Dieu! The old town is within walking distance, excellent shopping just around the corner and convenient for all the tourist sights and public transport. If we visit Lyon again (which we probably will, as we loved it) we will definitely return.
