Great mom-daughter outing!

Posted Apr 15, 2016 on Hotels
This was a Thursday/Friday stay, a gift, for a mother-daughter getaway. Even though it rained on and off almost the entire time, it was fantastic. The room was very comfortable, the staff super friendly, the food excellent, and due to the rain, we had a lot of sights to ourselves. A very memorable mother-daughter outing. We also enjoyed the ride there and back, sightseeing through little towns on the back roads.

Don't do it!!!

Posted Apr 10, 2016 on Hotels
This hotel is old, run down and dirty. As soon as you walked into the lobby there was an odd smell. Then when we checked in the room was dirty. There were no fitted sheets on either bed, so I assume they wanted you to sleep on the mattress pad. Then in the bathroom there were "body" hairs. The whole place smelled awful! Not at all what you would expect from a $139/nt room; maybe a $39/nt room. We immediately walked back down to the front desk and they gave us our money back and we were able to leave. Even though I'm pleased they did the right thing and let us leave, but the bad part is they didn't seem at all surprised by our disappointment. I guess they're used to the complaints. Buyer beware!!!

Beautiful setting, cramped accodations

Posted Apr 5, 2016 on Hotels
Did not get much sleep as the furnace-thermostat didn't work and it was freezing cold the first night. Repair man came the next AM. Next night the thermostat didn't work right. The rooms were cramped and the bathroom was very small. No room to put toiletries. This appears to be an old building that has attempted to be remodeled to accomodate the lifestyle of traveling in 2016. Rooms were clean and the view of the pool was entertaining.

A little dated but excellent effort

Pros: Convenience to Callaway Gardens and included Garden entrance pass
Cons: Updating of rooms although mattresses and pillow were new and comfortable.
Location: Calloway Gardens, Warm Springs (FDR Little White House and park)
Hotel consists of several different blogs, large and smaller. Older units but acceptable for the price and convenience to Callaway Gardens (maybe 300 yards from an entrance). When considering that the entrance fee to the Gardens is waived from arrival to the end of the day of departure, the cost of the hotel is quite cheap. Large on site restaurant and only a couple of miles into Pine Mountain which has several restaurants, including an excellent Thai and a couple of Barbecue as well as a more family oriented restaurant.
