Good times at the Wheatbaker.
An amazing hotel. The check-in process could be better and faster but after that, it was relatively smooth. Also, important, factor in a couple of hundred dollars for the "deposit" so you can use the restaurant without having to pay each time.

We stayed here for the first time in 2019 and was absolutely impressed by its location, service, appearance and amenities. We decided to stay here again based on prior stay. We were so disappointed to see that while services and amenities had been maintained, there had been no maintenance. There were signs of wear and tear in the bathroom that needed regrouting, the walls that need repainting and carpeting that needs changing. Other than that, which I know is very picky, the staff was absolutely amazing. The breakfast buffet every morning was not to be missed! And the location and security can’t be better!

I stayed at the Wheatbaker for 3 weeks in August this year with my son, mainly for a business trip. Positives - polite and attentive staff - great, well-maintained decor and superb facilities overall - fantastic gym - good covid-compliant hygiene/other covid-related measures - delicious food - great onsite gym - wonderful poolside setting for business meetings - a well-managed business centre - very comfortable bedroom Negatives - Problems with wifi on one crucial evening when I was due to dial onto a board meeting online. This caused untold stress as I wasn't sure if the wifi issue would be resolved in time for the meeting - during the 2nd week of our stay, I received a call from reception suggesting that I make a part payment on my room extras bill. I have never had this happen at any hotel I have stayed in and found this incredibly insulting - theft: some cash and an ipod were stolen from our bedroom. I have never had anything stolen from a hotel in all the years that I have travelled globally both for work and leisure. I reported the theft to management who were most apologetic and investigated after we left the hotel and returned to the UK. I was then told that I would be refunded the full cost of the lost ipod provided I gave the hotel proof of purchase and my bank details. I provided this information and, despite chasing, I am yet to be refunded by the hotel. This, more than anything, is what makes me rate the hotel so low for staff and service (terrible).

The staff are incredibly friendly. The Wheatbaker is strategically place provided you are here for business. If you're seeking leisure, it is perfect if you want somewhere quiet without too much foot traffic. Though its safe - Hotel Taxi service is a bit on the high end...I recommend outsourcing to local private chauffeur company with SUV cars (US$D80-100/day).

Exceptional service
Fantastic place to be our first stay in Lagos. Great neighborhood, staff went above and beyond to help us out. The pool is in a common area and not very used, and the lobby layout is a little bit different than the impressions from the pictures, but a fantastic choice overall. Highly recommend.

The property was CLEAN!!!! And the staff were extremely professional !!! Extremely The floor tiles in the shower could be a lot nicer as they did not match the level of luxury of the rest of the room. The sheets were also clean

The Best Place to Stay in Lagos
Great, modern hotel with friendly service in the comfortable Ikoyi neighborhood. If you want a safe, calm 5-star oasis within the city of Lagos, which pulses with energy, the Wheatbaker is your best choice.. You'll be rubbing shoulders with Africa's movers and shakers - the Nigerian "big boys" (ministers and businessmen) often have meetings here and I'm told Marck Zuckerberg was a guest when he visited.

Highly recommended if you need to be around VA

One night business stay
This is a nice hotel in Ikoyi. Tripadviser rates this as the #1 hotel in Lagos so I decided to stay here for only one night during a business trip (I usually stay at the Intercontinental). The room was very comfortable, tidy and clean. It also has a nice, modern look. The only problem is that it is a bit overpriced and the rooms were also small. Also, the gym is quite small. Overall I give it a B+. I would definitely stay at the Intercontinental next time unless they reduce the rates. The Intercon's rates are better plus much bigger rooms with a view and nice gym.

In safe and clean environment
The General manager is everywhere including restaurant to make sure everything is in place and also interacts with guest to know if the enjoy their services or if the needed something special. Very satisfied with this hotel and look forward to another visit. I especially enjoy meals in the Grill Restaurant. Also breakfast is complementary
