Beautiful setting overlooking the Pacific. Staff was very attentive and helpful without being snooty. The only minor drawback is that the beach is a public beach with open access. Despite this, it's a beautiful stretch of Laguna Beach coastline and there is a great view from the pool area if a more private setting is desired. All rooms have ocean views and we particularly liked our deck with a walkout to grounds.

Room had No Heat

Pros: Beautiful hotel.
Cons: Food in the Loft was not very good for such a expensive restaurant. The broccolini side dish was in a lot of oil and the risotto was not very good
Our first room with a beautiful view of the ocean had no heat during a cold day in March 2018 so we had to change rooms at 9:00 at night. The hotel did upgrade us to a suite.

Amazing location, not impressed by the details

Luxury hotels on the Southern California Coast like Terranea, Ritz, Monarch Bay are always unbelievably impeccable so when I booked Montage I was fully expecting the same level of perfection and service a picky guest comes to look forward to from a 5-stars property. Although the location and the property is nothing short of stunning I couldn’t help noticing overlooked details that made my stay at Montage not as exceptional as the one at Monarch, Ritz or Terranea: our room wasn’t serviced until late afternoon and not fully restocked, room’s soundproofing left a lot to be desired, picture quality of the TV was ridiculously poor and finally I was charged with one thousand dollars of sport apparels I never purchased (currently being investigated). I concur these are all minor details but nonetheless noticeable when comparing with close-by properties in the "Luxury" category.

Wonderful luxury hotel

Everything about the Montage is first class. I would give especially high marks to landscaping and beauty of the grounds and professionalism of the staff. Rooms are large and comfortable, and food service is excellent. It is expensive ( enough so that I doubt I can afford to return), but I still consider it a good value.

Horrible staff Dear Guest Relations, I was a guest at your hotel over New Year’s Eve (12/31/17) and wanted to express my extreme disappointment with your personnel and the treatment my guests and I received. After attending the NYE lobby event at your hotel for the past couple of years (which was fantastic) I decided to stay at the property this year and reserved suite #7134 for a couple of nights. Upon checking in, I asked multiple members of your staff about any arrangements that would be needed to attend the lobby party (as I understood it was a different format this year) and they assured me that as a hotel guest I was free to enjoy the music and bar area at any time. Upon arriving at the lobby area around 10:30pm we were told that we could not come in if I did not have a reservation and that the hotel staff that I had talked to at check-in “didn’t know what they were talking about”. We stood in line for about a half hour to see if there was any way they could make an exception and let us attend. We watched numerous people offer the security money and / or sneak in and upon questing them about it we were treated very rudely and were eventually told by security that we had to leave or they would have us “thrown out”. After spending such a large amount of money to try to make New Year’s Eve special I’m sure you can understand my disappointment in the way that you treat your guests and can’t imagine how a facility like yours can treat guests in this manner and still r

Amazing service. First time staying at a montage and will come again. Better service than other high need hotels.
