Great location. Just 1 min. to old town.

Posted Jan 8, 2017
Pros: Great breakfast and location.
Location: The old town is great for walking, shopping and eating. The Rathaus is old and surrounded by the very attractive old buildings.
Marburg is probably my favorite old city in Germany. The oldest university town in Germany and fortunately not damaged during the war. The village of Amoeneburg nearby sits atop a large hill with old houses and the ruins of a 10th century castle.

Comfortable hotel centrally located.

Pros: Reception staff helpfulness.
Location: Easy walking to market place. Short but steeper climb up to the castle/schloss. Played bit of football near the river, which is a short walk away.
Very good breakfast. Hotel staff very helpful and friendly. Wifi worked fine.

Welcome Hotel Marburg Germany

Posted Aug 19, 2015
Cons: Perhaps more staff, and possibly a supervisor in the restaurant when the the tables are full.
Location: A great University town with a Castle, many attractive half timbered house. A vibrant shopping area and many good Cafes, and restaurants.
My overall feeling is that it was a very comfortable Hotel, with very helpful staff, and a breakfast restaurant which had every thing anyone would want to eat at Breakfast. Was a little cramped when very busy, and one had to ask for things that had run out. The most disappointing thing was WiFi. The staff were kind enough to set up my iPhone, but I found the signal gone when I tried to use it the next morning, and as I am an 88year old man and not that technical, I found it a bother asking the staff to ret the WiFi every morning. However that is a minor niggle, generally I was very satisfied with my stay.

Reasonable stay

Posted Jan 12, 2015
Pros: Location is brilliant. Right next to the old town. Food in restaurant was very good. A modern bright hotel.
Cons: Need to keep on top of maintenance. My window was jammed open, on a very cold night. Shower needs a regulator, as temperature impossible to control.
Location: Great for exploring the old town and many restaurants.
Great location, comfortable hotel. Nice food in restaurant. A few niggles with things not working, but overall not a bad place to stay in Marburg. WiFi has to be paid for to get acceptable download speed, and it still kept dropping service.

Centrally located, does the job

Very central. Rather unimaginatively appointed as far as furniture and so on are cocerned, but it does the basic job well. Excellent breakfast and good wifi.

Best Location in Town but Just So-So Accommodation

Posted Dec 7, 2013
The hotel is literally right across the street from the elevator that takes you to the Old City, which is the tourist area of Marburg. There is not a better location in town if your intent is to stay at the center of this historic university town. The rooms were average, although our room key kept malfunctioning and we had to have the maid let us in more than once. There was a full breakfast but the selections were placed under "McDonalds-style" heat lamps and a number of choices were dried and shriveled by the time we came down to eat. The staff didn't seem to pay much attention to refilling juice dispensers or replacing overheated trays. The biggest frustration was the lack on Internet service during our stay. It is normally available but "technicians" were working on the system for most of our two days there. We hadn't made arrangements for the remainder of our time in Europe, figuring we would use Expedia from the hotel. Even during the half-day period when we were able to access the Internet, the connection was slow and shaky. There was one desktop in the lobby but there was always a line. The location is unbeatable but we would not use the hotel again. Just too many disappointments. Our sense was that the management knows it will attract tourists and doesn't think it has to go out of its way to make their experience enjoyable.
