Situated at the top of hakone mountain, this quiet and tranquil ryokan was everything I was expecting from what I've read from manga's. I love the staff. Used to foreigners and we're very accomedating! Even though we arrived late, I called when I was at the hakone train station to let them know (the ryokan is at the last stop atop of the rope car so it take 1hr by bus we missed the train/rope way closes at 4pm). I loved the location because it's close to the bus loop 10min.
I gave it lower points because of personal preference: 1) it's an older facility so no elevator (only 2 floors)
2) sleeping on tatami mats takes some getting used to.
The best food! The breakfast and dinner are so so worth it. Must book dinner ahead of time (special is 2d regular 1day to reserve). Served in the traditional Japanese style with pickled items, fish and rice. You can order additional side dishes but I wouldn't the portions are very filling. The dinner comes with all you can drink alcohol/drink...so much fun!
The onsen has a public separated men/women very nice/hot! Comes with shisheido shampoo, conditioner, body soap. There's also a 40min private onsen you can get (book on the little white board morning of).
Would come back/recommend!
