Misleading Trivago advert photo

Posted Nov 1, 2016
Cons: Replace the photo in all hotel booking websites with an honest one. Change the room wall safes to make them stay closed even if the battery fails.
Average/medium in every category. Minus was that the photo in Trivago's hotel booking system is untrue, it shows a waterfront restaurant on Lake Como when Engadina has no such restaurant, the hotel is 1/4 km back from the lakefront and has NO lake view. This false information disappointed my family greatly. The room wall safes are unsafe. After locking it and checking it was properly locked, on returning from breakfast we found it open. The mechanism's battery had gone flat and its fallback mode is 'open' - quite unsatisfactory.

Overall the stay was fine. Hard to find without a GPS and parking was a little problem

Good location just outside old town

Posted Oct 6, 2016
Pros: Location and cost.
Location: Close to station, good directions. 5 mins walk to harbour and old town.
Not fancy but clean and comfortable to stay in. Good position without paying fortune to be in centre of town. Friendly helpful staff. close to harbour and old city.

Nothing fancy, but good option for a good price

Posted Sep 30, 2016 on Hotels
No frills and a bit dated, but friendly staff and amazing location for a good price. 15 min walk to San Giovanni station and 5 min walk to the Lake and downtown Como. Good shower and big enough room. Breakfast was served to us which was a nice change for free breakfasts in Italy and had enough variety. Would stay again

Very good value hotel and near to the main station. Great for one or two nights. Staff (possibly the family owners) serve you breakfast in a cosy restaurant/bar and are very welcoming.

Close to the centre of things

Posted Sep 9, 2016
Pros: Very obliging and helpful staff, and the rooms were well decorated and maintained.
Cons: The lift could do with a refresh, control buttons sometimes a bit sticky, but the rest of the hotel appears recently refurbed.
Location: Lake steamers, boats and hydrofoils, restaraunts, Como itself, the funicular. It's a flat walk to all of them.
Excellent medium size hotel for the independent or budget traveller. Ideally placed for lakefront, stations and Come itself - nothing is too far away. The Continental breakfast is magnificent and sets you up for the whole day - you may not need to lunch. For travellers using public transport Como S.G station is about 300m away, and Como Lago about 500m - a flat stroll. Also bus station next to Como Lago with lake boats opposite.

Convenient clean and friendly

Posted Aug 30, 2016 on Ebookers
Pros: Clean, friendly convenient
Cons: Shower screen was broken but didnt really bother us that much.
Location: Close to centre with restaurants and only minutes from the lake
An average 3 star hotel in relation to facilities but if you are looking for a clean, convenient and friendly hotel at a resonable price then this will suffice. There is a small amount of parking otherwise it's meters around the corner. Staff are very friendly room was clean, air con worked ok. It is not far from town or the lake but don't expect any views, it is in a built up area. Breakfast was sufficient. Bar area is nothing special but have to say the drinks were the cheapest we found in Como, 3 euro for a beer or a large brandy.

Great little hotel

Posted Aug 28, 2016 on Hotels
I really liked this hotel. The staff are friendly and the internet is so much better than other hotels in Italy. It was even possible to stream video easily. The rooms are small and fairly basic, but they have a fridge, good wifi and good aircon so no complaints at all. Breakfast was quite good.
