Hotel truly is a pearlPosted Oct 26, 2015
Pros: The service was absolutely top-notch. Breakfast was lovely eaten out on the balcony overlooking the lake.
Cons: The shower was small... but as we learned over the next several weeks, some are small and some are tiny. This was in between!
Location: We were close to almost all the towns around Lake Como. We took a short ride up to Lake Lugano.
We enjoyed staying at La Perla for the first 3 nights of a trip to Italy. Our room had a magnificent view overlooking Lake Como. The room was a comfortable size although as we were to find out rather quickly, many hotels in Italy have very small showers. This was one of the smaller showers. We loved the location of being out of the tourist hub but being close enough to anywhere we wanted to go. The service was exceptional and that's where La Perla really shines. Any questions we had or information we needed, they were happy to supply.

Tremezzo gemPosted Oct 1, 2015
La Perla was a wonderful experience for us in Lake Como. The hotel itself is lovely, clean and well maintained. The breakfasts were amazing! Location is ideal to travel to all the Lake Como spots. Last but not least, the staff at La Perla are the nicest, friendliest, most helpful people we have met in Italy. We recommend this hotel heartily. Top marks!!

nice pseudo-modern hillside hotelPosted Sep 26, 2015
Pros: the people, the views, the look and feel
Location: famous villas, Bellagio across the water, small towns
the rooms are not big but the package is great. great views of Lake Como, free parking, inside or out, super nice helpful owners/staff, great spot on relative to the lake and famous bills, just across from Bellagio, etc. the breakfast is good, the terrace is nice, the staff/owners are crazy helpful, take all their advice! rooms are small but so what, they are nicely appointed and the overall feel of this place is great. i would recommend and stay here again.

Wonderful hostsPosted Sep 20, 2015
Pros: The views. The cleanliness. And the friendliness of the staff.
Cons: Pillows could be a bit softer and more variety of food.
Location: walk up to hotel is long and steep. Taxis are expensive. Ferries go from one island to another. Each one is prettier than the last. Car hire recommend
We have just returned from a 4night stay at La Perla hotel. Nothing was too much trouble . The ownership all they could to make the stay enjoyable. It was spotlessly clean and the views were amazing. Unfortunately we had a lot of rain but would definitely return there. I think you need a car to take full advantage.

Nice hotel, but need carPosted Sep 15, 2015
Pros: It was clean. The "happy hour" had fair prices for food and drinks and food was pretty good. Breakfast had lots of options.
Cons: Breakfast was only served 8-10am and checkout was at 10am - no sleeping in on vacation!
Location: Not a lot going on in Tremezzina, just some Villas to tour and gardens to look at - very quiet if that's what you're after, except the dogs barking.
This hotel is not easy to get to from public transportation. It is located in the very small town of Tremezzina which is a little over 1 mile from the ferry stop up a very steep hill with a dozen hairpin turns that would be a nightmare if you had luggage. Tremezzina is teeny tiny, not much to do there in the evening and everything seems to quiet down early. Also, if you're not used to driving in Europe, the drive can feel a little hairy. If you're coming by train, recommend staying in Varenna or consider Bellagio. Both of these cities larger and more restaurants and ferry options.

Amazing views and friendliest staff.Posted Sep 14, 2015
Pros: We liked the warm and friendly greeting from staff, couldnt do enough for us. Room clean and smelt good! Balcony with jaw dropping views.
Location: Tremezzo - stunning scenery, ferrying to the little villages nearby and visiting the Italian Villas were our highlights..and soaking in the views.
We had the best time staying at La Perla. From the most helpful, friendliest staff ever to the incredible view we loved every minute! Breakfast delicious - included in price..and on the balcony, that view again! La Perla is almost at the top of a steep and turning road, we liked the option of eating an evening meal here, again on the terrace, if we didn't feel like driving down to the lake each night. Well priced meals and very tasty. Attention to detail is obvious here, even in the little things. Highly recommended.

Perfetto!Posted Sep 8, 2015
Pros: Staff, room size, A/C, breakfast, dinner, bar, pool, everything!
Cons: Not possible
My wife and I just returned from a 2 week trip in Europe, visiting Switzerland and Italy. Hotel La Perla was an excellent choice and we loved every minute of it! The hotel is located a bit up the mountain which provided excellent views, whether it be sitting outside enjoying morning breakfast or lounging at the pool in the evening. At time of writing this review the hotel offered morning and evening shuttles down to the main town (less than 5 min ride), and they drop you off right by the ferry service which was excellent. This hotel has A/C (many do not) which was an good choice as it was unusually warm for the 1st week in September, we were happy to have A/C in our room with a thermostat for control. What separates this hotel from the others are the staff. I rarely write online reviews, but we do travel frequently and have stayed at many hotels. The staff couldn't have been better. They are genuinely nice people, who were only too happy to teach us a few words in Italian, provide excellent recommendations on what to see, and one night they even called an made us a dinner reservation at a local spot. I felt as if I were family! This was the only time I've ever left a hotel and have been actually sad to say "goodbye" to the staff, they made that strong of an impression on me. My next stop to Lake Como will include a reservation at Hotel la Perla!

Perfect Hotel. Great location.Posted Aug 31, 2015
The family that runs this hotel could not be any nicer. Perla is a perfect name for this jewel of a hotel nestled in the side of a mountain overlooking gorgeous Lake Como. The hotel is beautiful. We had a lovely suite with a private terrace which we took advantage of to enjoy the beautiful views. The pool was pleasant to cool off. Though we didn't use it, it was nice that they provided shuttle service to the town twice a day. There was a light dinner service as well as a lovely breakfast served on the terrace each morning. The owners of this lovely establishment truly made you feel like treasured guests in their home. I wish we could have stayed longer. A magical place for sure.
