Hotel Eden PalacePosted Sep 18, 2015
Pros: Good situation, very nice breakfast buffet and staff.
Cons: The standard rooms. They look more as a 3 star hotel than 4. The beds are not comfortable. The small table at the balcony could be changed.
Location: You have access to all what you need nearby. Lake, shopping, restaurants or for a trip with the boat.
We stayed 3 days for a trip in Montreux. The hotel is in a very good location (train station, lake, boat shipping...)

Eden Palace Du Lac MontreuxPosted Sep 10, 2015
Cons: See above
Itinerary 18845254260 We booked this hotel after using it a few years ago. From the outside the hotel looks magnificent, overlooking, as it does, Lake Geneva. Unfortunately the parts of the hotel we saw are in need of refurbishment. The carpet on the stairs from reception to the first floor is in need of replacement with stains and tears on the edges of some of the stairs. If the tears worsen there is a danger that someone will fall. The breakfast room looks magnificent at first glance with a decorated ceiling –however the room is quite shabby and in need of repainting. Our room no 123 was small and at the rear of the hotel. We did not specify a room overlooking the lake and as we were staying for only 3 nights that was acceptable. However the room was small and a portable air conditioning unit had been provided. The Unit was noisy and the outlet had to be wedged into an open window. The Bathroom had a crack in the wash basin and the bath has a badly repaired hole in it. Although some of the waiting staff are helpful some are not. After eating at the terrace restaurant on 2 nights we tried to order food on the 3rd night. We were shown to a table and the table laid with a cloth.. After approximately 15 minutes we had not been shown menus or offered a drink although 2 staff were on duty and the terrace was not busy or even full. We decided to get up and leave, deciding that we would get better service at the local pizza restaurant-which we did !

Excellent location next to Lake GenevaPosted Sep 6, 2015
Pros: Location & Standard
Cons: Free Parking
Location: Queen Recording Studio next door in the Casino is excellent (and free)
Excellent location in an even more excellent City. The walk along Lake Geneva (right outside the hotel) is superb. Quiet spots & really lively spots with beer halls & restaurants etc.

Beautiful location, older hotelPosted Sep 6, 2015
Cons: The bathroom tubs/showers are dangerous, and both my wife and I nearly had falls. Not a bathroom for feeble or older people.
Location: Lots to do, good restaurants, and the lake is beautiful and clean.
In general, we were happy with the hotel, especially the excellent staff. The lake view is spectacular and hard to beat anywhere in the world. The hotel prices reflect the value of the setting. Food was good. This hotel needs a major investor to update the interiors. It has so much elegance that is lost on faded and worn out interiors. The rooms are a very nice size, except for the bathroom. Watch the tub/shower. It is dangerous to get in and out.

Excellent scenic views a few steps away from lake!Posted Aug 5, 2015
Pros: Spectacular views from balcony, calm ambiance, friendly staff at front desk and the quality of the breakfast.
Cons: Refurbish the place e.g. carpets all over, stains on upholstery makes it look very 'tacky', unattractive skirtings is off putting and looks terrible!
Location: See My Switzerland website Freddy Mercury museum- a must! We took a train to Glacier 3000 and had ample time! Best time: 1 Aug for National Swiss Day!
The hotel is situated in a prime location, next to the casino/Freddy Mercury Museum, and very short walking distance from train station, local convenient shops e.g. Muller and Coop, and 1 street away from the bus stop. The view from the balcony is spectacular, however if you are a non-smoker, you will have to enjoy the view through the balcony door is your neighbour is smoking on their balcony as the breeze from the lake carries the smell into your room. Very friendly, helpful front desk staff provided us with an adaptor, and was quick to answer phone when we rang them. The breakfast was amazing every morning, and worth the price, however when we had to leave early on an excursion, we chose to have an early breakfast rather than the pre-packed breakfast on offer which did not sound very attractive as described. The restaurant was more expensive in comparison to other restaurants which offered the same/similar main meals for less money. Beautiful terrace right next to beach and small swimming pool next to trees are the perfect places to relax. The hotel is a well worth place to stay if you don't mind the clean, but weathered, stained upholstery, old, stained carpets throughout, and the peeling skirtings all along the dining room floor. Although the hotel desperately needs to renovate, it was worth the stay due to the beautiful views, central location and good quality of the breakfast.
