Great location and staff
Travelling from Milan Malpensa airport by train to Baveno it couldn’t have been easier to get to Hotel Elvezia, just a five minute walk away. A friendly welcome and drop off of our bags in our lovely, clean room and it was off to get our bearings in Baveno. The lake itself is only 150 metres away, with restaurants, bars, shops etc on the front by the main boat ferries and bus stops. A great base to explore Lago Maggiore, with the hotel so helpful should you need assistance. Thoroughly recommended.

Nice place in a great location.
Staff were friendly and could speak some English even though we can speak italian. Hotel is only 5 mins (or less) walk from lake maggiore, and was clean and cosy. My only gripe is that there is only space for 5 or 6 cars in the property although there is a pay car park round the corner. Very nice breakfast with lots of choice. Overall good value for money. A nice place to stay and would do so again.

Passing through on the way home to Uk, Baveno is lovely (more laid back than other Maggiore towns) Elvetia is a great hotel choice: middle of town, comfortable, nice people, good breakfast

Lovely family run hotel near lake
Comfortable family run hotel. friendly staff and clean rooms. lovely location very near to lake side and close to good restaurants and boat port where you can jump on a boat to visit the small islands in the lake or go to other lakeside towns..

There is a Coop Express right around the corner, the locals hang out at the cofffee shop across the street and the restaurant Poste right around the corner is exceptional! We WILL stay here again and again!

Lovely little hotel with friendly & helpful staff
We stayed for 10 nights and used the hotel as a base to explore the region. It worked perfectly for us with a baby and a toddler. The train station is a 2 minute walk away and we went into Milan one day on the train. The ferry terminal is a few minutes walk away which was perfect for getting around the lake.. There is a lovely little secluded beach about 10 minutes walk away which we went to a couple of times and our little 2 year old enjoyed splashing around in the water . The owners of the hotel, Claudia and Allessandro were the perfect hosts and always went out of their way to help esp with having a toddler and a small baby.The rest of the staff were always very friendly and helpful too We ate at the hotel numerous times in the evening and it was always vey good and great value. Be sure to try the Costolette Pork Ribs which are sooo tasty. The breakfast in the morning was the perfect start to the day. Great selection of cereal,yoghurt,ham and cheese.coffee,fruit juice ,pastries and biscuits etc.It really was first class Our room fitted the bill for us.No balcony but we didn´t want one with our two year old just learning to climb. However there our rooms with a balcony if you prefer one. In summary this was a great choice of hotel for us and we would highly recommend it. Good value ,good location,great food and lovely hosts. What more could you ask for.Thank you hotel Elvezia for a lovely stay at your hotel.

Family,friendly hotel.
Our friendly welcome lasted the whole week and we were sorry to leave. As a two star B&B with evening food if required, this must rank amongst the best. Access to Train, Bus, Ferries and shops just a walk away, as is the very good Tourist Information office, and Church with Bells that ring the hour and half-hour and a Carrillon on occasions. ,

Great place to visit!
Budget price hotel reflected in the quality of the room. Furniture, decor and bathroom tired and dated. However, everything was clean, tidy, light and airy. The owners were friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome. Tea making facilities in the room would have been very welcome! Breakfast more than adequate and packed lunch and evening meal available if required. Great location with free parking.l

Nice hotel, poor breakfast
It was hard to find a good place to eat for dinner that was good and affordable. Wifi didn't work in my room and the breakfast served wasn't that fancy.

Wonderful gem in Baveno
My husband and I loved this hotel. It may be a two star hotel, but the service and the atmosphere was 5 stars as far as we were concerned. The hotel is located in a very cute corner of Baveno, 3 min from the lake and the town centre. The staff could not be more polite, helpful and friendly. I made a mistake in the reservation (booking a single instead of a double) and they were very nice about it and figured out a way to help us out at no extra costs. The hotel has wi-fi, the breakfast is good and abundant, the hotel has a lovely courtyard in which you can relax with drinks from the bar. Much cheaper than other 'big' hotels in the are and with a much, much nicer feel to it. This will definitely be our hotel of choice if we come back to the area.

Simple, basic accommodations - beautiful setting!
The room was clean, the staff were friendly, the location was convenient to most of Baveno. The walls were a bit thin, so noise from other occupants was sometimes a minor issue. Beware - there isn't a television set in the room, although there is one in the lounge area. Very good price for a basic hotel.

Great value
Hotel Elvezia was all that we desired and more than we expected from a two star establishment. The room was clean and comfortable, with a good outlook. Breakfast was abundant, and inclusive of diverse tastes. A train line serving freight trains at night runs through the town, but we slept well.

Excellent value for a short stay
Owners could not have been more friendly or accomodating and they speak English! 3 minutes walk from lake pier terminal. Plenty of bars and restaurants within a few minutes walking distance. Room simple but clean with washbasin & bidet. own bathroom on a different floor-which wasn't a problem. Breakfast & packed lunches available. Well priced bar.Would stay again

Pleasant budget stay at Elvezia
Elvezia represents possiby the best value for hotels around the notoriously expensive Maggiore. As long as you don't mind sharing a bathroom (which were to be fair immaculately cleaned regularly), and you don;t want to spend all your time in your room, it is the perfect place for a short no frills break. A warning though - not much to do in Baveno.

THIS IS A OLD HOTEL THAT HAS NOT BEEN MODERNISED. IT IS GOOD VALUE FOR WHERE IT IS ABOVE THE LAKE AND THE FERRY PORT IS JUST THERE TOO. YOU CAN ENJOY THE LAKE AND THE FERRIES AND THE STAFF ARE FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL. WE WOULD STAY AGAIN. IT IS GOOD VALUE.

This has to be one of the best views out of a hotel ... ever - an 11th century church, lake, islands & mountains. The hotel is lovely - friendly owners & staff who couldn't do enough for us. Baveno is a lovely place (as is Arona - 20 mins on the train) with a really friendly vibe.

un bel posto per stare a Baveno, nel Lago maggiore
Questo albergo merita più di 2 stelle. The staff è molto simpatico , la stanza è molto pulito, la prima colazione è buonissima e abbondante e cì posto per parcheggiare la macchina! E meglio ancorca,l'albergo è solo pochi passi dal lago.

Nettes Hotel mit top Lage
Das Hotel ist einfach eingerichtet, hat ein sehr leckeres Frühstück und sehr nette, zuvorkommende hauswirte! Zum Lago Maggiore sind es fünf Minuten und das Hotel liegt genau neben der wunderschönen kirche. Wir waren zwei Nächte mit unserem 7 jährigen Sohn dort.

Klein hotelletje nabij het meer.
Aan de ene kant was de ligging prima op korte loopafstand van het meer, maar het ligt ook nabij een spoorlijn, wat 's nachts wat storend was. Hotel heeft ook een eigen parkeerplaats, wat positief is. Wij hadden per ongeluk een kamer met externe badkamer gereserveerd (was bij de boeking niet erg duidelijk vermeld), zou dat niet aanraden, is erg onhandig. Het ontbijt had een uitgebreide keuze, met name voor wie van zoetigheid houdt.

Wir hatten einen Aufenthalt von 9 Tagen. Sehr zentral gelegen. Claudia und Alexandro mit ihren zwei Kindern führen das Hotel sehr familienfreundlich und helfen wo es geht. Gaststätten sind in 2 Gehminuten erreichbar

Positif : Propreté et taille de la chambre pour 4. Au centre du village, à côté de l'église et proche de l’embarcadère pour les îles Borromées. Négatif : Chambre désuète. Meubles d'un autre âge ou en vieux plastique, literie (matelas très, très fatigués), couvertures, couvres-lits, télé à tube cathodique de 20 cm tout au plus. Il suffirait d'acheter quelques meubles chez un grand fournisseur pour remettre la chambre un peut plus au goût du jour. Petit-déjeuner standard.

Excellent séjour. Hôtel avec accueil très sympa, situé à 5 minutes à pied du lac Majeur, et des départs bateaux vers les îles Borromée (à visiter absolument, palais et jardins rivalisent de beauté), vers Stresa où on peut monter en télécabine jusqu'en haut de Il Mottarone (vue extraordinaire), vers Pallanza ou Villa Taranto (jardin magnifique). Restos en bord de lac à prix abordables. Plage sympa à Feriolo. Topissime !
