Where do I start! Everything about this place was amazing!!! The owners were just the sweetest and paid attention to every detail. They even drove us into town to restaurants and the bus station.
The property is beautiful and so well kept. The room…omg!!!! Stunning!!!!
This place is a MUST GO TO!!!
Wow, what a find!! The owners make you feel so welcomed. It is truly a relaxing and beautiful place. Home cooked food with immaculate rooms really make this a worthwhile stop. One suggestion, very helpful to have a car if you are there for more than a couple of days.
The property is very pleasant, and has an interesting history. The owners/managers were lovely and did everything possible to make my visit pleasurable. The grounds are beautiful with nice gardens. The breakfast on the terrace was fantastic as well. My only (small) complaint is that the train is quite close by.
The breakfast was outstanding, everything fresh and delicious. The property was beautiful with amazing views of the lake. Absolutely perfect spot for our family. Looked much better in person than on the pictures. Very helpful and pleasant staff.
Nicest ambience ever! Enjoyed both cocktails and breakfasts on the patio overlooking beautiful Lake Maggiore amidst lovely grounds. We stayed 3 nights, relaxing and loving our time there.
Simona and Alberto were warm, welcoming, and somehow everywhere if needed. Felt more like staying at a friend's home, but with an idyllic setting.
P.S. Don't miss visiting Isola Bella -- just a short ferry ride away.
A lovely family run hotel with the most gracious hosts.
The location, with its views over Lake Maggiore, is fabulous and made for the perfect start to our Italian trip.
Alberto was very helpful in finding good local restaurants and providing a taxi service to and from them.
Small elegant hotel, beautifully restored historic property, gracious friendly service, a spacious suite for a reasonable price (we had the Dinghy superior suite w/large patio/balcony) and stunning views of Lago Maggiore—we could not have asked for more. We enjoyed a breakfast and light supper served on the garden patio, and especially appreciated the proprietor’s help arranging our mandatory pre-flight COVID test. The hotel is on a quiet stretch of shoreline between Arona and Stresa which we preferred, but you do need a car to drive to restaurants and beaches with facilities. A walk into the small town of Belgirate is possible but it would be a long climb back up the hill.
Wonderful family-run hotel--very comfortable room, delicious breakfast, and gorgeous lake view. The hosts were so friendly and helpful, and gave us excellent advice about what to see and do in the area. We loved our one-night stay so much that we immediately rebooked for several days the next week!
Very nice hotel settled in a large garden. Quiet, clean, great lake views. Breakfast was excellent too. And the staff very welcoming. If you do not mind having to take a short drive to Stresa or restaurants, this is definitely the place to stay at.
We would highly recommend the Relais Casali della Cisterna! It is a family run hotel and they are very friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is beautifully kept and the room was clean and spacious.
I have stayed at 5 star hotels not this nice. First class everything, furnishings, linens, service, views, the total package. Th3se people should give seminars on how to run a hotel. I have stayed at thousands of hotels, you arenot going to get better.
This was our favorite place we stayed our entire trip. Our hosts treated us more like family than guests. We may go back to Italy just to enjoy Relais Casali della Cisterna.
Beautiful property with amazing lake views. Easy drive to Stresa to visit the islands and everything else that the area has to offer. Good variety of breakfast available. Beautiful gardens too.
Beautiful views, very clean, very accommodating staff...exceptional at getting dinner reservations, good breakfast
Note: A active train line runs behind the hotel. You can’t see it but it runs at night as well. The towels were extremely rough.
Really good experience, great room to stay with all the family ( we have three kids). The host were very nice to us, we booked late the rooms, no problem and all thr family happy.
Fabulous position overlooking the lake. Cool, comfortable rooms. Quiet position.
Railway was quite close, a little disturbing at times, but not enough to spoil our enjoyment.
quiet, beautiful views, great food, good wine selection, caring staff- perfect!

This is a great location to visit Lake Maggiore, since we had a car. It is right on the water and exquisitely maintained. However there is a busy road on one side and the train on the other. Despite this we loved it. The main, more touristy town of Stressa is only five miles up the road, and is where the ferry stops to take you to the islands.
Beautiful converted villa with excellent views of Lago Maggiore. Room very spacious. Parking a plus if traveling with car. Short distance to Stresa, about 6 minute drive, with access to ferry to other towns along the lake. Breakfast more diverse than most other establishments I’ve stayed at in Italy. Only minus are trains passing by about every 20 minutes or so and towels in bathroom could be softer. Staff were friendly and helpful with guidance to area. Would highly recommend!
We loved our two night stay. The room and hotel were very clean and comfortable. This is a family run hotel so a lot of care and consideration has gone into making sure your stay is enjoyable. We enjoyed having breakfast there each morning and both evenings we enjoyed drinks down in the bar. If we came back to the area we wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again!
A lovely hotel with rooms overlooking Lago Maggiore. Outstanding staff (e.g., helpful with dinner reservations), excellent breakfast. Excellent housekeping. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.
What a find. I have been to Stresa for years and usually stayed at the Grand Hotels on business. Relais Casali was a real gem. Simona and her staff were outstanding. The quiet retreat, exceptional views of Lago Maggiore, and the overall ambiance of this facility make it a real find.
We completely enjoyed our stay at the Casali. The place is amazing...very lovely, beautiful gardens, great atmosphere. We did not have a car and we were really needing one. The place is remote and difficult to access without a car.
Great hotel , wonderful friendly staff , took a point off because of what they called a private beach was not great but all else was very enjoyable . Would stay again .
Overnight in a suite with lake view. Positives were Lakefront, beautiful peaceful surroundings. Nicely decorated well designed large room. Negatives were very uncomfortable bed, bedding and pillows. Towels were worn out. Inadequate waterproofing in bathroom. Even the toilet paper was damp.Room was damp and musty smell from bedlinen and pillows. For a so called suite and the price one does not expect these malfunctionings. Breakfast was overpriced for what was on offer. Only one egg allowed per person. Owners tried very hard to be friendly but this is not their game.
Absolutely stunning rooms. First class bedlinen , towels.
The couple that run the hotel cannot do enough for you to make sure you enjoy your stay.
Nothing is too much trouble.
Breakfast plenty of choice, cooked eggs.
Would advice car hire if not driving to Belgirate it is a little way from restuarants in local town.
Great Location: hotel is directly on the lake with a small private beach and a huge garden. Though out of town, it's just 5 minute car drive to Stresa. The only small issue is that the intercity railway line is just behind the hotel. Though all rooms are facing the lake direction, if you are sitting outside in the garden, you will feel the shaking when trains passing.
Great Hosts & wonderful hotel services with personal touch.
Off beaten path a bit but wonderful room with hill side setting and views Of Lago Maggiore Only issue is seeing sign to turn off and current temporary entrance down gravel road. Keep going it is lovely.
We loved this hotel! We had a beautiful view of the lake from our room, and the room itself was elegant and comfortable. The hotel is a short drive from Stresa, and requires driving up a windy hill, but is well worth it.
A winner once you find it. Great staff, nice breakfast, pleasant room with a (partial) view of Lago Maggiore. Stayed for four nights; would extend if we had time. Did I say "wonderful staff?" Extremely diligent and ready to help. Now, to get back to finding...follow signs off main lake road to Villa Caudia. Continue past their gate and you"ll soon arrive at Sisterna!
