Dog friendly hotel

Posted Mar 25, 2017
Great place to stay with your pooch. When you check in you are offered champagne and your dog is given a bandanna. The room is set up with a dog bed and a set of bowls. The location is perfect. It is next door to a pet friendly coffee shop and a park.

Great hotel, good deal

Posted Mar 19, 2017
Pros: The lobby lounge areas, the attached restaurant, covered parking, location, views.
Cons: Hot tub is tepid and no jets, bed is old, bathroom fan wasn't working.
Location: Great location for access to anything in the area. Walking distance to all areas of the village and easy drive to Whiteface and other local sights.
We have stayed here before and would definitely recommend. The staff are very helpful and we were upgraded to a room with a great view of the lake and mountains. The lobby is full of comfortable nooks by the fire and my boys took advantage of the chess boards set up there. Having the Dancing Bear restaurant attached is great, it's a great restaurant with large portions of very tasty food for a decent price. Our room was spacious and very clean. The only issues we have are that the hot tub is not very hot and has no jets, and the pool is shallow. Also 1 bed in our room was very sqashy, not great for a bad back.

Dear Tee, Thank you for joining us again at High Peaks Resort and for sharing your experience, your feedback and your kind words. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your visit overall and appreciate hearing where we can improve. We will certainly look into the bed in your guest room. Our beds are typically made with feather mattress toppers, but if we know ahead of time that a firm mattress is needed we will certainly do everything we can to accommodate! Thank you again for sharing your experience and allowing us the opportunity to improve our guest experience. I hope we'll see you again soon! Warm Regards, Matthew General Manager

Wonderful stay

Posted Mar 16, 2017
Pros: The beds were extremely comfortable and the rooms were large and very well cleaned.
Cons: The main shower head is located in the center of the ceiling in the walk-in shower which made it difficult for my wife to avoid getting her hair wet.
Location: Much to do and see in and around Lake Placid. Many sporting activities including excellent skiing, and many fine restaurants.
Very warm and Adirondack comfortable hotel with a very accommodating staff, especially the front deck clerk, Eric, who can't do enough for you. The rooms are large and appear to have been recently renovated and very comfortable. Ask for a room looking out on Mirror Lake. The hotel lobby is expansive with a 2-sided wood burning fireplace in a central lounge area with nice chairs and sofas on which to kick back and relax or socialize. There are plenty of somewhat private areas in the Lobby away from the front desk and from the central fireplace area where one can work, read, or play a game of chess or cards away from others. The hotel restaurant, The Dancing Bear, serves a variety of good food and the bar serves excellent drinks. The restaurant/bar staff is very attentive and friendly as well.

Great View King Bed Room

Posted Mar 15, 2017
Pros: The room and the staff.
Cons: Another elevator, better breakfast options and for the bar to be open in the lobby.
Location: We were on Mirror Lake, there is skating on the lake with great restaurants and a few good shops on Main St.
The hotel was clean, the staff were friendly and inviting. I recommend booking the room with a view.

Good for the money

Posted Feb 26, 2017
Pros: Comfortable beds, very nice bathrooms, great location, good and free parking.
Cons: A hotel like this should have safes in the rooms, that seems like a pretty basic amenity for a hotel at this level.
Location: Great location, right at the end of the strip. Very convenient to shuttle to Whiteface, easy walk to everything. Easy to get car in and out.
This is a good hotel for the cost. We were in one of the least expensive rooms with no view. A bit noisy at times but the beds were comfortable. Very nice bathrooms. Found a few items from the previous guest when we checked in and one of the dresser drawers was broken, but everything else was good.

High Peaks, Lake Placid

Posted Feb 25, 2017
Pros: beautiful amenities, champagne upon arrival, many activities, fantastic location. Easy parking. Pools, hot tubs, bedding and the luxurious shower.
Location: Ice skating on pond or indoors, all Olympic activities, horse drawn sleigh, dog sled, great places to eat, hiking, gorge, skiing, etc.
We did not have enough time this visit to truly enjoy all the wonderful things to do. Such an amazing and charming town, hotel was great. Would HIGHLY recommend it.

We were nicely greeted by the staff. Everyone was friendly. We enjoyed chatting by the fireplace. This place was so convenient for parking, and pet friendly too. The pool needs to be updated, but we had access to pool and hot tub at the Lake house across the way.

Spacious and comfortable

Posted Feb 22, 2017
We had a Waterfront room right on the Lake. It was great to walk out the sliding door and stand 30 feet from Mirror Lake. What a beautiful view of the lake, ice skaters, dog sleds and mountains in the distance. The room was spacious and the beds were very comfortable -- just dreamy! Staff was friendly and accommodating. The Dancing Bear Restaurant was good, not excellent. The Aveda Elements Spa offered very good massages. Overall a lovely stay.
